Headway East London is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Working across 13 London boroughs we offer specialist support and services for survivors and their family. About the Role
We are looking for a Day Service Co-ordinator to join our art studio team and support people living with brain injury in our day centre in Haggerston.
You will take responsibility for organising and delivering activities in the Submit to Love art studio, such as supporting members in creating new artworks, planning and delivering events and outings, and engaging members in a variety of other activities in response to their needs and interests.
The role also involves providing advocacy and support (key working) for up to 12 members and ensuring the smooth running of the day service as a member of the co-ordinating team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Activities in the art studio:
- Support members to engage creatively and develop their personal artistic practise.
- Work alongside the studio manager, day service members and volunteers to plan and deliver events, including artist led workshops, exhibitions and open studios.
- Plan trips to cultural events and experiences.
Key working:
- Act as key worker for up to 16 members, checking in regularly about their engagement in the centre and their general wellbeing, and supporting them with information, advice, and advocacy as appropriate.
- Establish and maintain contact with members’ families, carers, and relevant statutory partners to facilitate good communication and better provide appropriate support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including comprehensive individual risk assessments.
Day Service co-ordination:
- Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in the day service and other teams at Headway East London to create a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating environment for members.
- Share responsibility for practical tasks in the day service to ensure its smooth running.
- Work sensitively with volunteers, supporting them alongside the volunteer co-ordinator to take on meaningful and rewarding roles in the day service.

What will I be doing?
The role of Community Youth Worker is, by nature, highly relational and is a position of great influence that enables you to nurture, inspire, connect and empower young people from all walks of life, so they can make the most of their lives. Community Youth Work takes many forms and while the actual work is subject to change according to the current needs of young people or Matrix, it may include:

- Running/assisting with after-school and/or holiday clubs
- Mentoring young people
- Supporting young people in a social enterprise environment
- Research of young people’s needs in the local community
Youth Café
The Youth Hideaway is our flagship project and is a fun open access youth café run by our team after school at our social enterprise café - The Hideaway.
As a Community Youth Worker some of your time will be spent assisting the Youth Café, Project Lead and Head of Youth Work in delivering this project and it may include:
- Helping to create a safe, fun and inspiring environment for the young people that attend
- Plan, prepare and deliver quality youth sessions
- Build healthy relationships with young people that attend the sessions, identifying and responding to the needs that may arise
Monthly Youth Hubs
Youth Hubs are fun open access youth clubs run by our youth workers in the community. These are run on a monthly basis on rotation in different areas within Guildford Borough. As a Community Youth Worker you will be responsible for planning, organising and running at least one HUB, which may include:
- Creating a safe, fun and inspiring environment for the young people that attend
- Planning, preparing and delivering quality youth club sessions
- Building healthy relationships with young people that attend the club sessions, identifying and responding to the needs that may arise
- Promoting the activities of the Youth Hub in the community
- Exemplify the charity's values and Christian ethos to the wider ‘Hubs’ team, leading them in prayer where appropriate.
- Promote the activities of the Youth Café in the community
GASP Motor Project
Matrix will often work in collaboration with partner organisations and following a successful run of pilot sessions we are pleased to confirm that from September 2022 we will be extending our work with GASP Motor Project.
Working in this setting is very similar to the mentoring work that we offer in schools and you may be expected to:
- Conduct one-to-one sessions to listen to, analyse and respond to the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of young people
- Manage, monitor and evaluate caseloads as part of the one-to-one support sessions
- Develop and run a variety of contact points for the young people attending the project, including group sessions
- Build good working relationships with the GASP team
Schools Work
Our work in schools is varied and you may be expected to:
- Conduct one-to-one sessions to listen to, analyse and respond to the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of young people
- Manage, monitor and evaluate caseloads within your allocated school as part of the one-to-one support sessions
- Develop and run a variety of contact points and projects for young people across the school, including group sessions and drop-ins and after school projects
- Alongside the Secondary Schools Project Lead, supervise and build a team of volunteers to work within the school
- Build good working relationships with school staff, CAMHS and other relevant local services
General
- Contribute to, and be involved in fundraising and other activities that benefit Matrix, including whole staff workshop days, fundraising activities.
- During school holidays and after school, be involved in projects organised and run by Matrix, including holiday and after-school clubs (e.g. our Youth Café - The Youth Hideaway) within your allocated hours and as agreed by your line manager
- Raise the positive profile of Matrix by building professional relationships in a multi-agency environment including through networking events in the relevant local area, such as meeting with the community safety wardens, local schools, churches, Police and PCSOs
- Represent Matrix by providing a positive role-model to young people
- Promoting our activities in both the community and in a school environment through; social media engagement and assemblies
- Ensure you work to the Youth Work Standards
Level of Authority
As a Community Youth Worker, you will need to operate with a high degree of autonomy. You will be expected to administer your own time and workload in liaison with your line manager, keeping an ‘open’ diary for all activities. A working timetable for school holidays will be developed in consultation with your line manager.
Personal Specification
Essential
- A strong youth work background in a relevant field e.g.: youth work, teaching, social work
- Able to relate well to young people in all environments including (but not exclusively)school, 1:1, open youth clubs and partner projects
- Capable of building relationships with and liaising with other professionals
- Experience of leading workshops and / or groups sessions with young people
- Able to set appropriate boundaries with young people, in all situations
- Agree with and able to support and work within the Christian ethos of The Matrix Trust. (This job has a “genuine occupational requirement” (GOR) for the post to be filled by a Christian).

We are looking for people to join our Bristol Complex Needs in St George as a Project Worker. The service provides accommodation and housing related support to people experiencing homelessness; dedicated to providing a safe, high quality and inclusive service to people while they are living in the hostel, and a positive move-on into independent housing.
In the role of Project Worker, you will:
- Oversee a caseload of clients and provide ongoing 1-1 support in an approachable, caring and person-centred way.
- Provide practical and personal support to clients with complex needs around areas such as housing and health.
- Have a good understanding of a person centred approach and how to provide the right support to clients to meet individual needs, identifying personal aims and ambitions and making plans to achieve them.
- Work with the team, external statutory agencies and voluntary organisations to ensure everyone has access to available support.
- Continue to develop your skills further around working with clients in a holistic way, and to gain a deeper understanding of housing and benefits law, and other specialist areas through training, supervision and line management support.
In this role you will work on a shift rota Monday – Friday 9am-5pm. In some of these role’s staff can claim an additional 20% pay premium for hours worked between 8pm and 8am Monday to Friday, and all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday.
About you
We are looking for enthusiastic people with experience of dealing with complex and difficult situations in relation to people and helping people throughout difficult periods and a process of change. You should also demonstrate:
- A sound understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness, and the difficulties they can experience in accessing services.
- Some experience of liaising with a number of individuals or agencies to achieve effective outcomes for others.
- Excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to work with a variety of different people.
- The ability to work in a role that supports vulnerable people and maintain high level of contact with clients on a day to day basis.
- Above all, you should have a genuine desire to support people to transform their lives and a non-judgemental approach to working with people with complex needs.

This exciting pilot is a new approach to preventing rough sleeping, through the provision of accommodation with onsite specialist move-on support to those who are at immediate risk of sleeping rough. The service will provide a route and support for single homeless clients who are presenting to the Local Authority Housing Options or day centres and at imminent risk of rough sleeping, but not yet rough sleeping.
Where their homelessness cannot be prevented by the council and they are at imminent risk of sleeping rough, a referral can be made into the Rough Sleeping Prevention service.
The service will be based across three London locations in Islington, Lambeth and Kensington and Chelsea and staff will be based expected to work across all three sites
- Work on 7 day rolling rota inclusing early, mid and late shifts
- (K&C): medium – high support accommodation.
- (Lambeth): medium support accommodation.
- (Islington): Assessment hub space for up to 15 clients. Site will operate 24/7.
Each site will have staff delivering casework and support, providing each person with a comprehensive assessment of their needs and circumstances, and intensive specialist support to secure move on.
In this role you will jointly manage the safe day to day running of the project with other members of the team and to provide basic support and advice to clients.

With Single Homeless Project staff co-located in probation offices, you will be working in close partnership with Probation Services, to support people on probation to either sustain their current accommodation or to secure new housing as needed.
We are seeking people who could deliver housing advice, guidance and support to clients. Working with a caseload in your local designated boroughs, you will produce comprehensive and high-quality assessments on their support needs; particularly their housing, employment and financial needs and follow the most suitable pathway for them.
We are also looking for people who are interested in working in this sector and with this client group. We encourage applications from those, who are also at the beginning of their career path - graduates and those with transferrable skills & experience.
About you:
- Some understanding of working in supported housing or floating support services, with a demonstrable knowledge of Housing and other related Legislation or a relevant qualification
- Experience of managing complex and difficult situations in relation to vulnerable client group(s).

About this key role
Our successful candidate will assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, and produce support and risk management plans based on these assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process. You will be expected to deliver a holistic support service, working independently or with colleagues as the situation dictates, providing practical help such as social and housing support, education, training and employment options, benefits work and debt advice.
We will also rely on you to develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies, ensuring a steady flow of appropriate referrals onto the scheme, and with regional agencies, including police and social services. Closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future, is also an essential aspect of this role.
What we are looking for
- To have worked on an offender-led support project, had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of Bradford.
- Experience in negotiation with partner agencies to establish links to further aims of the project.
- Experience of engaging successfully with people with challenging or complex needs.
- To have a relevant qualification to a good standard, or be working towards one.
- Sound knowledge of ‘County Lines’ and the Government’s Prevent programme .
- Knowledge of services for offenders and patterns of offending in Leeds borough/s.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.
- A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.

About the team
Shelter North East has been based in Newcastle for over 25 years and we provide advice across 12 local authorities We have an advice team, a legal team, support services which are made up of a Housing First project, along with a DIYSA service and hub administrators. We also have a number of national staff who support our work, such as a Community Fundraiser, Community Organiser and an Involvement Officer. About the role
As an Engagement Worker, you will be pivotal in delivering Shelter’s purpose to defend the right to a safe home by enabling those we assist to enforce their housing rights. You will be a key member of our local team, delivering intensive support to a small number of individuals with multiple disadvantage to move from homelessness to sustaining a tenancy. Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health
Our provide supported accommodation for 50 young people at risk of homelessness across two sites. We provide support to our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures. Our staff team comprises of Support Workers, night staff and two managers. Each Support Worker holds a caseload of residents and meets with them weekly to build a support plan and help them achieve their goals.
In delivering the role, you will work on a rota shift pattern, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective, and supportive staff during the day. You will work with the Managers and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our accommodation project. This includes delivering one to one sessions and group work sessions to assist residents to develop personally and socially in order that they grow in confidence and move towards independence. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations. You will also support young people to safeguard themselves against abuse and risk.
Based on site, this role is on a seven-day rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays. Shifts are currently 0730 - 1530, 1200 - 2000 and 1400 - 2200. There is a small amount of lone working, but you will get to know the team and project, along with extensive training prior to starting on a rota.

GSU Advocacy and Policy Team is leading an award-winning outreach project that seeks to support students to stay and succeed at Greenwich. A team of part-time student staff call 1000’s of students each term, supporting them to navigate University life, services and GSU. This role will support the award-winning team to deliver proactive supportive calls to students.

This role sits within the Advocacy and Policy Team and focus on making 1-1 timely interventions to support students to succeed as well as identifying broader trends in student behaviour to inform our strategic approach to services and support.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
This post holder will be part of the Advocacy and Policy Team and will be expected to contribute to the department’s wider objectives and planning.
Delivery of Outreach
- Coordinate the team to deliver outbound phone calls and taking inbound calls in a call centre model, including opening and closing
- Ensure that the quality of personal outreach delivery is consistent and in line with the agreed scripts and conversation structures to support students
- Ensure the team provide excellent customer service to students, at all times seeking to support students’ needs appropriately, clarifying information and providing appropriate solutions
- Support other retention and wellbeing initiatives throughout the year
Supervision
- Support with training and development of student-staff team
- Support with the scheduling of shifts, monitoring of attendance and submitting of payroll
- Undertake 1-1’s with student staff, identifying additional support
Signposting & Monitoring
- Keep accurate records of all calls and student outreach in line with provided data tools
- Support callers to identify potential concerns from students and signpost students to the most relevant support pathway
- Closely monitor for any safety or safeguarding concerns from students, and support with escalations
- Support with the analysis of issues and regular reporting as directed

We have a vacancy for a Hospital Mental Health Outreach Worker to join our team. This is a full-time position.
About the Project
Herts Mind Network (HMN) has formed a partnership with Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust (HPFT) to deliver a one-to-one outreach service for people who are in hospitals across Hertfordshire.
We have two existing arms of the project – one based at Kingfisher Court and Albany Lodge facilitating discharge to the community from inpatient settings, and the other based at Watford General Hospital & Lister Hospital supporting those who have attended A&E in mental health crisis and have a dual diagnosis.
This is a new arm of the project focused on serious violence, with one worker based at Watford General Hospital and one worker based at Lister Hospital working in A&E departments and wards facilitating discharge for people aged 16 - 25 who have been admitted to hospital due to being a victim of serious violence.
About the Role:
The aims of the Bounce Back service are: to provide up to 16 sessions of emotional and practical support, advice and information to patients. We will visit patients on the ward and continue the sessions in the local community and in patients homes once discharged. We will facilitate a smooth and timely hospital discharge and focus on re-integration back into the local community.
The Bounce Back Worker will work with the HMN Community Outreach Teams and the hospital staff to ensure patients are offered advice, information, and holistic support. The Bounce Back worker will use a recovery orientated approach working with patients on the ward, and in the local community, including in people’s homes.
The recovery approach includes empathy, warmth, acceptance, authenticity, compassion and humanity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical and emotional support to encourage patients to develop their independence within their local community.
- Facilitate a smooth discharge from hospital back to the community.
- Have a solid understanding on the impact of serious violence on an individual’s mental health.
- Have a working knowledge on the areas of serious violence including knife crime, cuckooing and county lines.
- Monitor outcomes and evaluate the service.
- Ensure that the safety and wellbeing of patients using the service is monitored and reviewed regularly.
- Embed a person centred and recovery orientated approach in all aspects of the roles and responsibilities.

Job Summary
Please note this is a part time temporary role, working between 21-28 hours per week on a one year contract. The pro rata salary for hours worked is between £14,145 to £21,527 per year.
The role will involve providing Youth Engagement activities to trans and non-binary 18–25-year-olds who are facing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. This is an important part of our work supporting trans and non-binary young people into safe accommodation and work or education, supporting them to formulate and achieve their own life plans and preventing future homelessness.
Our Youth Engagement programme provides opportunities for young people accessing our services to:
- build skills and confidence to reach their own goals and objectives;
- access an affirming community of LGBTQ+ peers; and
- shape the work of akt.
