We are seeking an Exhibitions and Collections Projects Manager to join the Crafts Council on a permanent basis. This is a vital role in the Public Programmes team to oversee the maintenance and development of Crafts Council Collections and the delivery of key temporary exhibitions.

Reporting to the Senior Collections and Programme Manager, this role will ensure the Crafts Council Collections are documented and preserved to a high standard for future generations. They will also support the strategic development of the Crafts Council’s programme, managing relationships with external commercial partners, artists and institutions, overseeing project budgets and timelines and contributing to reporting and evaluation frameworks.

This is a dynamic and hands-on role which involves working across the organisation and beyond to deliver and communicate best practice in exhibition production and collection management.

About You

• You will bring adept production and organisational skills to this role
• You will be confident leading the planning and delivery of exhibitions and collection projects working in collaboration with artists, partners, contractors and venues
• As an experienced exhibition project manager, with expertise in collection management, you will have a strong understanding of what it takes to successfully realise displays to a high standard and be familiar with collection management procedures and systems
• You should be a self-starter who is confident working independently and as part of a team
• You should be a clear communicator ensuring that project information is disseminated and adhered to by all stakeholders.

Main Duties

In collaboration with the Senior Collections and Programme Manager, you will:

• Oversee planning and arrangements for installation and de-installation of exhibitions including Brookfield Properties Craft Award summer exhibitions
• Maintain exhibition and collection project budgets, timelines and documentation to a high standard
• Lead dynamic teams of casual assistants, freelance technicians, designers, conservators and photographers as required
• Facilitate accessibility of the Crafts Council Collections including Primary, Handling, Archive, Oral Histories and Library. Leading on both online accessibility via Collections Online and ensuring the collection is available to its audiences physically
• Ensure maximum impact from National Lottery Heritage Funded project 'Craft for the People' Is achieved, ensuring crafts council collection is available to a wider amount of people and is more resilient
• Oversee management of upcoming loans, arranging object transportation, entry and exit processes, loan agreements, mounting and conservation, where needed
• Lead on loans marketing and collections income generation projects
• Oversee collection management projects, including acquisitions, auditing, condition checking, improving packing, image and copyright licensing, object photography, location and movement control. Recording Information on Crafts Council's CMS Museum Index +
• Review and improve collections storage processes, embed collections trust benchmarks in security, building management system for temperature and humidity control, pest and disaster management
• Contribute to implementing cost-effective and environmentally sustainable working practices for exhibitions and collection maintenance

Salary

Over the past decade Pembroke House’s activities in Walworth have grown considerably, with annual turnover rising from £200k to £1 million. We are looking for an experienced and skilled financial professional who can steward us through this crucial period of development.  You will be someone who combines a passion for our mission, a keen eye for detail and a flair for interpreting financial information and supporting non-specialists to make sound financial decisions. 

Days will be varied spanning everything from helping budget holders report to funders; preparing accurate financial reports and management accounts; to creating the budgets and frameworks for long-term financial planning. The rest of the core finance team comprises a Bookkeeper and a pro bono Payroll Officer based in Pembroke College, Cambridge. Other members of the team manage petty cash, look after the room hire business (including invoicing and credit control) and administer pensions. 

The trustee’s Finance and Risk Subcommittee formed two years ago and a new trustee position of Treasurer is currently being recruited. The Finance Manager will service and attend the subcommittee’s quarterly meetings and be the main contact point with the Treasurer between meetings.

As a new role there will be plenty of opportunity to mould finance operations across the organisation. Finance systems are currently in place, and have satisfied the auditor over the past few years, but there remains scope for improvement, including through automation and upskilling of the wider team.

About the role

We are looking for a Deputy Service Manager to join our team based in Croydon, providing leadership and line management to a team of night staff which is around 10 people in total. For your own personal safety, you will require to have access to your own transport as you will need to travel between our 4 sites during the night shift to provide managerial support to the teams. The teams support our residents with person centred support, to empower them to overcome their personal barriers with their mental health, to have greater independence and fulfilled living. The service is responsible for holding various activities, group sessions, and one to one support to enable residents to build their personal skills and experiences to achieve their goals.

Job responsibilities 

STRATEGY  

• To work closely alongside the Bishop and Archdeacon in developing, delivering and reviewing a measurable and impactful Edmonton Area Plan within the 2030 Vision for London. 
• To actively encourage and enable the projects and plans for mission across the Area working closely with the Bishop, Archdeacon and the Area Deans for each of the four Deaneries and other Area and Diocesan staff. 
• To develop a strategy in the Area in line with the overarching diocesan Mission Framework, which relates to the other four Area strategies and which leads directly towards plans for growth
• Some of these mission plans will relate to work on funding applications and others which relate to the increased provision and maintenance of services by personal interventions and strategic support.  
• Lead on the stakeholder engagement and change management planning for the larger sized mission programmes within the Area 
• To work with the Diocese of London 2030 Vision program office to gather appropriate metrics in order to provide a framework for good strategic decision making.
• To support parishes as they develop their mission and vision, adding value such as in facilitating vision and planning events, linking with partners and external bodies. 
• To build capacity for mission across the Episcopal Area with different church traditions and practices  

TEAM  

• To enjoy playing a full part in the Area Staff Team, sharing in decision making and development of the program of culture change. 
• To work strategically with particular parishes and clergy from time to time as they identify opportunities for making a difference within their local communities.
• To join the Diocese team of Deans of Mission at their monthly meetings and in ongoing collaboration and cross-border working. 

MAINTENANCE OF SERVICES

• To work with the Area Deans in the delivery of particular mission plans and initiatives in their Deaneries that relate to and will result in services of worship taking place in these churches.
• To encourage churches in their community engagement and social action initiatives, including partnership working across the Area and on specific local projects, sharing best practice so that new and existing services of worship will develop and be maintained to address their needs. 
• To provide support for clergy in the delivery of project work in relation to buildings so they will draw new people into worship services. This will include working through the purposes for which the buildings were established and their interpretation of that in the maintenance of services today. 

RESOURCING  

• To work alongside churches in vacancy to remain focused on mission and to plan for appropriate future leadership, supporting the Bishop and Archdeacon in running vacancy and appointments processes. 
• To help parishes access the support available from the Diocese of London’s Ambition and Priority teams, noting in particular support for new incumbents
• Ambition teams: Confident Disciples, Compassionate Communities, Creative Growth (CCX) – and how they link with maintaining church services. 
• Priority teams: Growing Younger, Safer Churches, Racial Justice 
• To provide advice and support to enable successful church revitalisation including work with current and potential Resource Churches in discerning how their strengths and gifts can be best used in support of planting and other parish support and that new services will be established to serve those currently less well reached. 
• To develop prayer initiatives and resources to support mission in the Area. 
• To ensure the necessary provision of training for missional engagement and useful sources for theological reflection on mission.  

GENERAL
