Key Responsibilities include:

· Influencing and supporting parishes to prepare and deliver their NZC action plans relating to their buildings.

· Support the Property Team to develop and implement a comprehensive NZC action plan for clergy housing.

· Developing relationships with technical specialists and potential funding agencies.

· Managing relationships and communications with a wide range of other stakeholders.

· Managing headline project data and tracking progress against the project delivery plan and providing regular, timely reports highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.

· Ensuring all relevant risks are identified and mitigation actions are in place.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills include:

· Degree or equivalent (with a project management and/or a qualification relevant to NZC being desirable).

· Extensive experience of leading, co-ordinating and delivering complex projects;

· Experience of managing multiple stakeholder types in a complex programme context.

· Up-to-date knowledge of environmental and climate change issues.

· Strong knowledge of project management techniques and processes, including governance, plan management, budget, risk, and issue management. ·

· Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to bring order to complex situations and find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems.

Job Purpose - Facilities Manager - Projects 

The role holder will report directly to the Head of Estates whilst working closely with the Facilities Manager and the wider team, as well as operational colleagues.

The role holder will be responsible for the delivery of specific ad hoc estates projects, whilst also providing support to the wider Estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activity to ensure the development of an estate that delivers outstanding outcomes for the people we support, ensuring the portfolio is managed safely, cost effectively and in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

This role requires an individual with strong project management capability within an estate’s environment, with a demonstrable track record of delivery of projects on time, to Budget and to the requisite level of quality.

Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, the role holder will: 

• Lead the estates input in the expansion of the existing property footprint.
• Onboard new additions to the estate’s property portfolio efficiently and effectively.
• Work collaboratively with operational colleagues ensuring “best outcomes” are delivered for the people we support in the development and maintenance of the estate.
• Support the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activities.
• Be visible and on site to ensure the smooth running of projects and the timely resolution of issues. 

Dimensions

Whilst the role currently has no direct reports assigned, the level of project activity and the consequential resource requirements will determine any additional staffing needs. The nature of individual projects will determine this although it is anticipated that project spend will be circa £0.5m+ per annum.

Principal Accountabilities

Estates and Facilities Management 

• Responsibility: Act as the senior estates and facilities professional on project work assigned. 

• Project Plans: Ensure there is a clear and documented estates plan for each project assigned and lead the implementation of these plans to ensure best possible outcomes for the people we support. In the planning and delivery of projects, the role holder must ensure that due consideration is given to operational requirements. 

• Project Performance: Ensure a robust contract performance management framework is in place for each project. 

• Regulatory: Ensure all project work is undertaken in accordance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements. 

• Resource Management: Manage and co-ordinate both AFG staff and external contractors in the delivery of projects. Where required mitigating actions/plans may need to be taken to ensure that projects are delivered to requirements. 

• Onboarding: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. property acquisition (both support with the identification of appropriate property and subsequent due diligence). 

• Expansion: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. the expansion of existing estates footprint. 

• Business Cases: Prepare business cases, feasibility studies for consideration by the Head of Estates and onwards by the Executive/Director team. 

• Business as Usual Estates Activity: The role holder will be required to work alongside the Estates Manager and the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual estates activity (including site visits, contract monitoring meetings, supervision of reactive repairs etc.), where project requirements mean the role holder has capacity to undertake this work. 

Financial Management

• Financial Performance: Manage project related budgets, ensuring projects are delivered to Budget, to the requisite quality and to time. 

• Procurement: Work closely with the Procurement team to source potential suppliers for services and ensure those services are sourced on a “Value for money” (VFM) basis, and in accordance with the terms of the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation. 

• Tenders: Working closely with the Procurement function of the Charity, take the estates lead in tender activity where assigned, ensuring that activity is undertaken in accordance with the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation. 

• Cost Reduction/Service Improvement: Lead in ensuring we are continually striving to reduce cost/improve service provision. 

• Commercial Acumen: Commercially savvy to drive continuous improvement opportunities (both financial and operational). 

Sustainability, Efficiency, and Innovation 

• Estates Development: Ensure development activity within the estate takes account of environmental considerations/technological advances in the go-forward design.

We are seeking experienced and highly motivated staff members for our Complex Needs Accommodation Service. The role will require you to work alongside the Regional Services Manager , to provide a high level of support to these clients at our Ashley Road and Milton House projects.

You will be in a specialist role designed to work with people with complex support needs relating to: mental ill health, physical health & substance use needs. You will also play a key part in reducing the risk of re-offending, liaising with external professionals, preventing homelessness and promoting the independence and social inclusion of these clients.

The working rota for this post is Monday - Friday. (no weekend shifts) and a mixture of earlies (8am - 3.30pm) & lates (3pm - 10.30pm)

Main Responsibilities:

Established in 1936 and one of Scotland’s leading wildlife bodies, the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with some 3500 members.  Its purpose is to advance the study and appreciation of birds in Scotland by promoting their documentation, promoting interest in them, promoting their conservation, providing a focus for information about them and encouraging the appreciation of relevant creative arts.

The Club Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of running the Club, including its small team of staff, volunteers, an annual turnover of about £350,000 and assets which include built property (HQ).  They will champion and drive forward the Club’s vision and goals. There will be emphasis on strong leadership to manage and support staff, volunteers and trustees; ensuring the highest standard of services to members; planning and reporting on the annual programme of Club-wide events and developing future priorities.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

• Ensure implementation of all H&S, safeguarding and risk management responsibilities, in line with external and internal policy and Risk Register needs.  Ensure regular review of policies, advising Management Committee and ensuring awareness of them wherever necessary among Council and Committee members, staff, contractors and volunteer leaders.
• Work with the Office Manager to ensure compliance with all necessary measures for the maintenance and management of Waterston House and its users. 
• Ensure appropriate insurance cover for all relevant Club needs, including property, people, events and activities.
• Oversee the staff role in contributing to preparation and monitoring of our annual budget, reporting regularly to relevant committees.
• Oversee and support as appropriate all Club publications and media activities, including its website, Scottish Birds, newsletters and other communications.
• Ensure that statutory Data Protection requirements and obligations are met.
• Ensure that the Club’s IT infrastructure is adequate, robust and up to date. 
• Explore additional avenues for Club funding, make recommendations to the Club office bearers and Council.

Salary: £32,000

Scope and Purpose:

As Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the property, grounds and vehicles and manage the on-site facilities team and volunteers, leading them to support & deliver an exceptional Go Beyond experience for children who come on our Breaks. These are residential breaks for small groups of children aged 8-13, who stay with us Monday to Friday during most weeks throughout the year. Delivery of the breaks will be managed by the Team Leader and their team.

You will ensure the centre is operated and maintained in accordance with all relevant legislation, making sure we are safe, secure, and compliant. We have ambitions to develop our site and you will help us with continual improvement and improving our environmental and sustainability practices.

The role includes the facilities management of the centre to facilitate delivery of daily operations, including children’s activities. We aim to maximise the use of the centre and generate income. Your role will be pivotal in raising our profile in the local community, encouraging people to use our centre, supporting potential events, third-party use of our facilities and including the small, self-contained cottage which we let.

You will lead the local team including; Team Leaders, Maintenance, Housekeeping and Centre Cook along with volunteers (including groups of corporate volunteers who help us with on-site tasks). Ensuring not only the buildings, grounds and on-site activity areas are always at their best and ready to be enjoyed but ensuring the centre is kept clean and welcoming for our visitors and that our children and receive a healthy, nutritious meal during their stay. As a charity, we need to make sure this is all kept within budget.

You will need to be financially astute with a keen eye for detail and have practical and working knowledge of general building and estate management, HACCP, COSHH, Legionella, Asbestos, Fire Safety, Risk Assessment and Waste & contractor Management.

You will have a sound knowledge of Safeguarding and understand the importance of how activities can develop curiosity, confidence, resilience and communication skills in children and young people.

You will be a proactive, independent thinker able to manage themselves and lead a team to inspire and ensure Go Beyond provide the best opportunities to young people whilst they are visiting our centres.

Key responsibilities

Operations:

• Responsible for assessing risks, ensuring Health & Safety compliance, asset management, planning, and delivering action plans and regularly reviewing these.
• Responsible for ensuring all contractors are fully inducted and follow the site safeguarding protocol.
• Responsible for Contract management including reviews and renewals.
• To manage the onsite Housekeeping, Maintenance, Catering personnel and Team Leaders including; managing performance, target setting, planning staff training needs, cascading operational objectives, and managing leave and absences.
• Develop, implement and review the Land Management and Centre Management plans. 
• Responsible for the management and maintenance of all resources assigned to the centre, including site security, buildings, vehicles, land and equipment and ensuring they are maintained and fit for purpose, replaced as required and set out in the management plan.
• Maintain GDPR and other legal, regulatory and compliance records and planning and oversight of servicing, maintenance and regulatory safety checks.
• To manage resources in a cost-effective manner and improve sustainability in all aspects of our work, including reducing energy, improving recycling, and harvesting rainwater.
• Manage and liaise with customers and agents for lettings (Farmhouse and Cottage) providing assistance as required.

Breaks:

• Accountable for the safety and welfare of the staff, children and young people
• Deputy Safeguarding lead.
• Responsible for defining the strategic growth and development of the centre delivery programme.
• Produce centre based quarterly reports for SLT regarding H&S, Incidents and accidents, Centre and Land development projects including those completed by Corporate Volunteers
• Produce centre based quarterly reports for SLT regarding breaks, young people and volunteers
• Manage the allocated expenditure budget and reporting
• Develop new and existing relationships with the local community and partner agencies e.g. youth organisations.
• Ability to deputise for Director for Children and/or Director of Development and Sustainability as required.

The postholder will develop research-based policy positions, identify and deliver clear opportunities for public and political engagement, and mobilise support from a range of stakeholders.
