We're searching for volunteers for our upcoming concert in central London. The volunteers are required just for one day, Sunday 27th September. Hours roughly 10am-6:40pm

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Resident Engagement Support Volunteer to help create a welcoming and positive environment for residents living in our accommodation in Welwyn Garden City, and Hatfied hostels.

This is a flexible role that will begin with a focus on befriending and social connection. Volunteers will help open the residents’ café, serve teas and coffees, and spend time chatting with residents to help build rapport and reduce social isolation.

As confidence and relationships develop, the role can be shaped around the volunteer’s interests, skills and ideas. We welcome volunteers who may wish to support additional activities such as games, quizzes, crafts, wellbeing activities, cooking sessions, or sharing practical life skills.

No specialist experience is required - just a warm approach, good listening skills and a willingness to engage with people.

Key Responsibilities

· Opening and helping run the residents’ café during the afternoon session.

· Preparing and serving teas, coffees and refreshments.

· Offering a friendly welcome to residents.

· Spending time talking with residents and building positive relationships.

· Encouraging residents to take part in social activities, signposting to staff where additional support is needed.

· Supporting or helping to organise simple activities such as board games, crafts or quizzes.

We are currently on the hunt from some volunteers to help support our weekly Speak Out Central drop-ins.

Speak Out Central is a weekly drop-in for people with learning disabilities in the centre of Brighton, helping to prevent loneliness and social isolation. People get together over a cuppa at main office at the Brighthelm Centre between 1:30pm and 5:30pm every Tuesday. We aim to support people to be more involved in their local community and make connections with others at the drop-in and the wider community in the city.

The role involves:

• To help facilitate weekly drop-in meetings with other volunteers and staff
• Work with people with Learning disabilities to become more independent and try new things away from the drop-in
• Support people with learning disabilities to develop supportive relationships and friendships
• Support people with learning disabilities to feel more confident accessing mainstream services.
• Attend induction training and ongoing training as required.
• To work independently as needed and adhere to the Speak Out Codes of Practice for Volunteers and Advocates at all times
• Support people in the decisions they make but not make them for them.
• To challenge discrimination and help people to have their rights upheld.
• To identify at risk clients and follow Speak Out’s safeguarding process if needed

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

Learn to Love to Read offers one-to-one support to children who find learning to read challenging, in schools and online via Zoom.Our In-school volunteers are asked to commit 90 minutes, one afternoon a week, usually between 1-3 pm.
Our virtual volunteers are asked to commit 30-60 minutes, one afternoon a week, usually between 4-6 pm.

Full training and ongoing support is provided for all volunteers to provide them with a framework which supports children's reading skills, while also building their self-esteem, confidence and love of reading. Our volunteers support the same children each week, providing 20 minutes of one-to-one support for the whole academic year. This ensures a consistent and rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the children.

In Wandsworth, post-COVID, 20% of Key Stage 1 and 25% of Key Stage 2 children did not reach the expected standard of reading in summer 2025. Low literacy is linked to poverty and social exclusion, limiting options in life. Early literacy intervention is crucial to break this cycle. School closures due to COVID-19 have been tough for children from disadvantaged families.
 

Please note we only work with schools in the London borough of Wandsworth and all our volunteers need to live in or within easy reach of that borough. 

In line with Safer Recruitment, all applicants are asked to complete an application form, provide references, take part in a face-to-face interview and ID check, and attend online training which includes safeguarding. All volunteers must have an enhanced DBS check which we arrange on your behalf. You will also be required to obtain checks from any country in which you've lived for more than three months from the age of 16 in line with Wandsworth's guidance. Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Become a Helpline, Text & Email Listening Volunteer in Bristol 

Sift has been supporting people affected by self-harm for 40 years. Our wonderful team of volunteers provide valuable, non-judgemental listening to a community that often faces stigma, misunderstanding and a lack of support. 

For this training, we're recruiting women-identifying Bristol-based volunteers to work across our helpline, text and email services on our women-run Thursday shifts. These volunteers work from our office, located in the city centre. We will be recruiting volunteers of all genders to work across other weeknights when we next train, so please do keep checking our site for upcoming opportunities.

Our volunteer training course for this opportunity takes place online over Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October 2026. Volunteers must attend all four dates to complete the training.

Every quarter, you’ll meet a group of your peers to discuss volunteering and have a safe and confidential space to reflect on the work.

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and life experiences. You may have your own experiences of self-harm or mental health challenges or be keen to learn more about how to support others through these experiences. 

You don’t need previous listening or counselling experience, just an open mind, a commitment to the role, and a willingness to learn. 

We're looking for anyone who wants to offer meaningful support, and can listen with empathy and an understanding that everyone’s situation is unique. We're keen to recruit volunteers who are flexible, adaptable, and open to new learning experiences.

Your Role as a Mentor

As a mentor, you will hold weekly one-on-one sessions of 1-3 hours for the duration of 12 months. You will help build confidence, resilience, and help your mentee manage feelings through a series of fun experiences and activities. Whether you’re playing games or discussing goals, you’ll be making a difference in a child’s life by developing the tools for a positive future.
