Home based, Northern Ireland (NI)

The vacancy

About the role 

You’ll have an opportunity to make an impact in a time of growth and change for the charity. We have bold and exciting ambitions for the next few years to raise our profile, support more people affected by Parkinson’s and significantly change public understanding of the condition.

You will lead this work in NI, influencing policy development and implementation to improve health, social care, welfare and transport services for people affected by Parkinson’s in NI.

What you’ll do  

You’ll play a key role in…

  • Leading on the development and implementation of an agreed NI campaign priorities and plans.
  • Identifying opportunities to influence policies in health, social care, welfare and transport across relevant departments and bodies.
  • Engaging in and raising awareness of the needs of people affected by Parkinson’s and Parkinson’s UK in NI with key stakeholders including political, health, social care and welfare personnel, the third sector and Parkinson’s community. 
  • Undertaking research and gathering insights from people affected by Parkinson’s and provide robust evidence to improve health, care and welfare services.
  • Co-ordinating, researching and responding to consultations and ensuring charity policies are applicable in NI.

What you’ll bring

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of running successful campaigns, organising events and managing and being active in coalitions and alliances. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with high profile contacts, coalitions and networks.
  • Understanding of the political structures impacting people affected by Parkinson’s in NI and ability to use this to influence locally and nationally.
  • Proven experience of influencing key decision makers at all levels and the ability to maintain political impartiality and be discreet.
  • Knowledge of appropriate health, social care structures, transport and welfare services relevant to Parkinson’s in NI.
  • Experience of recruiting, training and motivating volunteers

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • live in the area specified (Northern Ireland) and be able to travel when needed within the area
