About the role
As we embark on a new ten-year strategy, this is a unique opportunity to lead the development of a radical and ambitious approach to partnerships with businesses, building on the successful partnerships we have with Lloyds Banking Group, Specsavers, Taylor Wimpey, Berkeley Homes and many more.
This pivotal role will lead the development of a corporate and commercial engagement strategy across Crisis, growing and deepening our portfolio of corporate partners, broadening their support for our organisation and our cause, and inspiring them to act within their businesses. The role also involves leading the continued development of our fundraising and partnerships outside of London, creating a national support network to end homelessness.
While the role is directly responsible for strategic and corporate partnerships, the post holder will lead across the charity, ensuring a joined-up approach across retail, service delivery (including Crisis at Christmas), brand partnerships, venture philanthropy, investments, and innovation.
The role also involves membership of the Brand, Marketing & Fundraising senior team and the organisation’s Senior Leadership Group, where it plays an important organisation-wide leadership role. Additional investment has recently been made in the team, and senior leadership and the Board have committed to supporting its success.

This largely home-based role is based in the Regional Corporate Partnerships team, which is one of the longest established, regionally based corporate teams in the third sector, with a track record of working with some of the largest and most dynamic businesses in the country.
As Corporate Partnerships Manager – Midlands, you’ll be supported by the Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager (your line manager) and work alongside two Corporate Partnership Managers overseen by Head of Regional Corporate Partnerships. Team
ShareAction’s Banking Standards team seeks to work with stakeholders such as banks, investors, and NGOs to make sure the banking industry take responsibility for their impact on people and planet. We have a history of campaigning on key aspects of banks’ climate strategies – such as their emission reduction targets or their fossil fuel policies – and we are gradually expanding our campaigning, research, and engagement work to other sustainability themes and banking regulation.
Position
What you’ll do (key responsibilities)
The research arm of the Banking Standards team ensures that ShareAction’s banking campaign is based on sound analyses and facts. Our Research Managers are responsible for analysing banks’ position on climate change, related industry standards, and market developments. Based on in-depth assessments, they formulate recommendations to strengthen banks’ commitments and inform engagement by investors and other stakeholders. Insights and recommendations are typically grounded in the following types of research:
- Investor briefings and short research notes reviewing climate-related commitments made by individual banks, either on a specific area of their climate strategy (e.g. in response to a new commitment) or across their climate strategy (e.g. to support a shareholder resolution or voting recommendation).
- Thematic reports and internal position papers reviewing how the European banking sector aims to address a specific issue and/or the relevant standards banks relies on (e.g. to inform engagement on new areas of work like green finance or refine existing campaign asks like fossil fuel policies).
- Banking surveys ranking European banks on their approach to climate change across are a range of themes (e.g. governance, climate targets, sector policies), in collaboration with the Financial Sector Research team.
The Research Manager is responsible for tracking banks’ commitments on an ongoing basis and ensure this information feeds into all types of research in a consistent and timely manner. This role closely collaborates with campaigners and support engagement efforts with research insights. They also lead on certain investor briefings, research notes, and thematic research under the supervision of the Senior Research Manager.
Specifically, the Research Manager leads on the following areas of work:
- Monitoring banks’ climate-related commitments on an ongoing basis and reflecting new commitments and updates in an internal database (‘banking tracker’) in a consistent and timely manner, enabling accurate and efficient uses across various research and campaigning activities. For example, the banking tracker will help streamline the pre-filling of banks’ individual questionnaires for the banks survey.
- Producing thematic research to inform ShareAction’s position and recommendations on climate-related issues. Initially, the Research Manager will conduct research on topics included in the banking survey but not covered by existing thematic reports (e.g. governance). This research will directly inform the development of the next banking survey questionnaire.
- Drafting investor briefings and similar research materials in close collaboration with campaigners to support engagement with focus banks, members of our investor coalitions, and journalists, amongst others.
- Presenting research to banks and other stakeholders including investors in meetings or webinars.
- Drafting responses to external consultations and taking ownership of consultations in specific areas of expertise.
- This role will be possibly required to line-manage and mentor one Senior Research Officer, addressing development needs and fostering their professional growth.
The Research Manager will also support other areas of work in the banking team, including:
- Delivering the banking survey (feeding into the research questionnaire, collecting data, and inputting into specific sections of the report
- Filing shareholder resolutions
- Drafting investor letters and AGM questions
- Among other operational needs (e.g. note taking during meetings)
The Research Manager will initially be contracted on a 12-month fixed term contract. We are aiming to make this position permanent; however, this is contingent on securing longer term funding for the role by the end of the 12-month period.

What you’ll bring to the team

- Passionate about climate change, sustainability, and/or the role of the financial system in addressing these issues.
- In-depth understanding of climate change issues, particularly as they relate to financial institutions and preferably the banking sector.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to autonomously manage research projects, allocate tasks, and prioritise multiple competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyse complex quantitative and qualitative data, produce detailed reports, and summarise findings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to leverage Excel to produce research insights and/or manage data.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a wide variety of audiences and build productive working relationships.
- Team player who actively seeks opportunities to support colleagues and is willing to support other areas of work when needed.
Desirable
- Experience in managing or mentoring more junior members of staff.
- Good understanding of how private commercial banks operate and what products & services their offer to corporate and retail clients.

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements
Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.
The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.

About the media team
Amnesty UK's media team is called upon by most departments to showcase, promote and publicise their work. There is no campaign, event, stunt, publication, piece of research or other product which doesn't look to the press team for support and press coverage.
In many ways, the media team bookends much of the organisation's most high-profile campaigning work - starting with media strategies, through to crafting messaging, briefing spokespeople, issuing press releases, connecting with journalists and setting up interviews. The media coverage achieved is often considered to be a key indicator in how a campaign or report has performed against the organisation's objectives.
The team also work with their counterparts and research teams from around the world who want their reports and comments profiled in the UK media.
The media team also operate an on-call rota service out of office hours. This means that every morning, evening and weekend throughout the year a media manager is available to respond to journalists as well as process important outputs from the International Secretariat.
About the role
This is a unique opportunity and a great time to join Amnesty UK's busy media and PR team.
Amnesty UK has ambitious campaigning and growth targets up to 2026 and you will play a vital role in helping to deliver those targets.
This will be achieved by developing media strategies, organising media interviews and producing the relevant materials such as press releases, fast reactive quotes, opinion pieces and letter to editors.
You will be working across a variety of areas, but there will be a specific focus on racial justice, economic, social and cultural rights, corporate partnerships, in addition to part-time involvement in our protest and gender rights work.
The media work on these campaign areas will be designed to deliver real human rights change and help increase the number of Amnesty supporters in the UK.
You will also monitor breaking news stories to ensure Amnesty UK reacts quickly and powerfully. And be part of an out of hours on call rota.

The position:
You will manage our Volunteer team, requiring exceptional communication, a natural affinity for people management and organisation, and an ability to inspire people to get involved with our work. You will be responsible for the overarching strategy and success of the Volunteer Program.

Hours:
This is a temporary 12 month maternity cover, full-time position over Monday to Friday.
From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.
During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, spanning Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.
Who you are:
Volunteers will be your passion. You’ll have a deep understanding of the importance of this kind of supporter and how to best steward their specific experience and manage their unique needs. You'll understand how to best manage and recruit volunteers, mobilising our UK wide network effectively both remotely and on the ground in order to create change. You’ll know how to best communicate and engage with them in order to make the most out of their time and efforts. As a senior youth worker you will be part of the team at Carney’s community, involved in the running of the youth boxing sessions, youth club and bike workshop. The post will start before the lead youth worker is on maternity leave to allow you time to get to know the team, the young people and for effective handover when you will be given responsibility for overseeing the youth club and bike workshop sessions and work in partnership with the head coach to run the youth boxing sessions.
