Who are we looking for?
We want people who can make a real difference and help people living with mental illness. You don’t need any prior experience of social work, but you will need to:
- Hold or be predicted to hold a 2:2 in a subject other than social work.
- Hold at least a grade C at GCSE level in Maths, and in English or English Language (not English Literature), or an equivalent level 2 qualification.
- Have the right to remain and work in the UK (including access to public funds) for the entire duration of the programme.

About the role

This is a temporary role covering Maternity Leave.
This role is part of the Wiltshire Adult Domestic Abuse Team, which provides support to people and their families who have been impacted by domestic abuse.
Working within the team, you will work directly with victims of domestic abuse, providing them with support and educational sessions to increase their safety and the safety of any of their children.
Offering support to standard to medium risk victims of domestic abuse, key tasks will include:
· To provide high quality, person centred, trauma informed support to people impacted by domestic abuse
· Being part of a team providing a whole family approach
· Support people to increase their personal safety
· Support peoples personal empowerment to take control of their lives
· Undertaking risk assessments and collaboratively developing safety plans.
· Give practical and emotional support to families who are experiencing domestic abuse in the community.
· Deliver and facilitate groups for people impacted by domestic abuse, including the Inspiring Families Course
(Including evening delivery where required)
You will work closely with Children’s Social Care, offering professional consultation regarding domestic abuse cases and attending team meetings where required. You will work closely with local Social Workers to increase the safety and stabilisation of people, by offering specialist domestic abuse educational sessions to the non-abusing parent, either in a one-to-one or group setting.
Key responsibilities:
· Provide a high-quality, person centred, trauma informed service and empowerment to those who need it.
· Manage a caseload of standard to medium risk cases, providing virtual and face to face support.
· Complete an initial assessment of individuals’ and families' needs with corresponding support plans to meet these needs so, preventing escalation of difficulties.
· Triage new referrals, ensuring comprehensive safety and safeguarding advice and guidance on initial contact.
· Undertake regular caseload review meetings with individuals and families during home and community visits to ensure they are fully supported to meet their personal goals.
· Be responsible for running groups, adhering to a clear manual and supporting second facilitators.
· Complete pre and post group assessments.
· Attend regular meetings with Children’s Social Care and offer professional consultation to Social Workers regarding cases involving domestic abuse.
· Assess, manage and review risks to service users, colleagues and self, including the use of the DASH Risk Assessment, and professional judgement.
· Attend Children’s Social Care multi-agency meetings such as child protection conferences and core groups, offering your professional perspective and provide written reports for Child Protection proceedings.
· Work with colleagues, health and social care professionals and multi-agency networks to evaluate caseload needs.
· Improve parents' understanding of the impact of Domestic Abuse on their child(ren) and work with the parent to provide continued support to their child(ren).
· Ensure personal safety and that of service users and other staff at all times.
· Respond to emergencies and crises including access to places of safety.
· Plan and implement activities to promote self-awareness, confidence and participation for service users.
· Enable service users to participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of services.
· Utilise evaluation and monitoring systems to ensure high standards of service are consistently achieved e.g. Insights and Orchards Database.
· Assist clients in attending legal and other appointments where necessary.
· Ensure support provided is accessible to clients in terms of location and times.
· Facilitate and deliver group work to people impacted by domestic abuse, including evening groups on a rota basis.
General
· Remain up to date and concordant with organisational procedures, policies and professional code of conduct, upholding standards of best practice.
· Attend and contribute to team meetings.
· Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness where required.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Family Support Service sits within AFRUCA as one of our most impactful programmes targeting families from a range of ethnic backgrounds across England and Wales. The service works closely with local authorities children’s services in cases involving families on child protection plans or in court proceedings. We provide direct one to one training and support for parents to aid their ability to provide appropriate parenting and ensure a safer, happier home environment for their children.
The AFRUCA Child Protection Service currently has a team of five qualified social workers and supports over 50 families each year. We also provide a therapeutic service where children are being reunified with their parents. We are establishing a child protection legal drop in service for families in contact with children’s services and an advocacy service for parents in the child protection system.
Most of our families are referred by local authorities children’s services as a result of cultural and religious practices which are deemed harmful to children’s well-being. We offer qualified social workers who do not wish to work in the statutory sector with an alternative approach to practising social work where empathy, kindness and support is key to our work with families. Our ultimate aim is a reduction of children in Black and Ethnic communities going into or remaining in foster care. We offer a non oppressive and non judgemental service that helps to promote the well-being of children in safe families.
We are looking to attract a qualified social worker who supports our ethos and is willing to contribute to our work with families to protect more children in our communities.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for Advocates to join and shape this service covering Moray. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. You will be home based for administration; therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential.
About you
Desirably you will have some experience of working in advocacy, or providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing support.
You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.
How will you make a difference?
You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.
You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to their care, treatment, and support.
You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support. You’ll be creative in your approach to empower our clients by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them. You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Team Leader for our supported living service in Ipswich, Suffolk. Someone who will go above and beyond to make life amazing for our service users and our enthusiastic and professional support workers. Our Charity supports 13 adults with learning disabilities/autism to lead fulfilling and independent lives whilst being active members of the community.
As our Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
- Creating and managing monthly rotas
- Supporting and supervising assistants
- Organising and leading weekly team meetings
- Inducting new starters into their role and completing competency observations
- Overseeing reporting such as medication records, health and safety, and quality assurance
- Leading on the planning and facilitating community events
- Working as part of the senior leadership team to maintain a high quality of care
About you:
- Well-organised, IT literate and adept at allocating and delegating work appropriately.
- Proven ability to guide, support and teach the essential skills of supporting people with learning disabilities/autism.
- A clear understanding of care planning processes.
- 1 or more years’ experience as a Team Leader working with adults with learning disabilities.
- NVQ Level 3 in health and social care.
- Experience in, or be willing to learn, digital care planning programmes.
- Up to date knowledge of CQC regulations with the ability to apply them in a care setting.
- Natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling.
