The Work Rights Centre is looking for a motivated solicitor or barrister to contribute to our growing employment rights programme by providing expert legal advice and casework, and supporting the wider development of the charity and our strategic goals.

The role
You’ll provide excellent employment legal advice, and support the Head of Employment in supervising our two senior legal advisers. About you
You will have significant experience of advocacy and/or public affairs with a track record of driving strategies that achieve measurable policy, attitude or legislative change. You will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills in English, and the ability to translate complex issues into plain English. You will have experience of project management and preferably budget management, particularly team or donor-funded project management. You will be media trained and confident speaking to and influencing a range of external senior stakeholders.
In past roles, you will have line managed colleagues and may have managed teams, and will know how to work with others, including in coalition with other organisations, to design and deliver advocacy campaigns. You will understand how to motivate your team to deliver against an organizational strategy. Your leadership style will be aligned with CIUK’s feminist leadership principles and values. About the role
The Head of Advocacy and Influencing is a leadership role with significant responsibility for external analysis and positioning for CIUK - including through regular updates to the board Impact and Transformation Committee. The role is responsible for providing strategic direction for CIUK and CI’s advocacy and influencing and leading the team to deliver UK and globally facing advocacy campaigns. The role is responsible for ensuring high quality publications and managing sign off and profile risks as part of CIUK’s risk management strategy. The Head of Advocacy and Influencing will also act as a senior external spokesperson for the organization to the media, parliament and public events. The role has significant responsibility for positioning and meeting expectations of donors who fund the team’s work. The role covers four main areas of responsibility:
Strategic Leadership & Delivery
Play a key role in the delivery of CIUK’s new 4-year strategy. Lead cross-organisational teams to deliver high quality policy analysis, advocacy and campaign strategies to UK government, parliamentary and private sector targets. Work with communications to design and deliver integrated campaign plans.
External representation and relationship management
Build the visibility and reputation of CIUK by building and managing key external relationships in government, parliament, private sector and across the sector, including in coalitions and alliances. Provide strategic advice on political developments, external opportunities, and risks, ensuring timely and well-informed positioning, and prepare the CEO/SLT for high-level external engagements. Serve as a senior spokesperson for CIUK in political, media, and public forums. Work with the CARE confederation to develop advocacy lines and approaches.
Thought leadership and Policy Development
Provide strategic leadership of the Gates Foundation partnership, delivering against expectations and securing further funding from this and other donors. Ensure a rigorous evidence base for CIUK’s policy agenda, both by working with CIUK’s team of thematic experts, as well as commissioning and managing research projects where needed. Prepare and approve briefings, position papers, op-eds and other communications in support of CARE UK’s influencing goals. Oversee CIUK’s strategic role in Centenary Action, including representation on the Steering Group and overall coordination.
Team and line management
Set and drive the advocacy and influencing team’s annual plans and contribution to the organisation’s strategic priorities. Be accountable to delivering on team KPIs and organisational KPIs that link to the team’s work, and for managing the team’s budget. Play a key role in the leadership of the Programme and Policy department. Provide strong line management to direct reports and demonstrate a strong personal commitment to CIUK’s equity, diversity and inclusion goals and feminist leadership principles.

This role primarily raises income (but also awareness) through performance marketing activity with a clear focus on maximising ROI and delivering supporter growth at scale. The focus is on managing digital channels including Google & Bing Paid Search and Shopping, Google Grant, Meta, Display, YouTube, SEO and identifying emerging channels. Ensuring digital marketing complements other marketing activities as part of an integrated team approach is key.

The Digital Marketing Manager works side-by-side with colleagues from across the Supporter Experience and Communications directorate, ensuring a joined-up approach to all communications activities, through the integration of strong storytelling, marketing expertise and supporter engagement.
Key responsibilities
Ensure Mary’s Meals’ mission remains central to all Acquisition Marketing work.

Ensure activities follow fundraising and data regulations, and marketing best practice.

Develop and execute a results-driven digital marketing strategy focused on income generation, conversion, and lifetime supporter value.
Maximise value from the Google Ad Grant, ensuring full utilisation within grant constraints while delivering measurable results.
Build performance-driven channel plans across Paid Search, Shopping, Meta, Display, Video, and SEO, aligned to acquisition and revenue targets.
Identify new growth channels for Mary’s Meals.
Set up, manage, and continuously optimise Paid Search and Shopping campaigns on Google Ads, Google Grant, and Bing Ads with a focus on return on ad spend (ROAS) and cost per acquisition (CPA).

Deliver Display and YouTube campaigns via Google Ads, managing targeting, placements, and creative testing.
Monitor and optimise campaign structures, keyword performance, bidding strategies, and audience targeting to maximise revenue.
Lead the delivery of technical and content SEO initiatives to improve rankings and organic traffic.
Work with the Creative Communications team on agreed content and copywriting requirements for acquisition marketing activities.
Track and report on key income metrics using GA4, GTM, and UTM tagging, with a focus on ROI, revenue per click, and conversion rates.
Set and report on KPI’s such as CPA, ROAS, CTR, conversion rate, and impression share.
Analyse data to identify trends, optimise campaigns, and deliver insights to inform wider marketing activity.
Test and refine messaging, ad formats, and landing pages through A/B and multivariate testing.
Contribute to oversight and performance of organic social media channels alongside the Supporter Marketing Manager, Supporter Experience Manager and Creative Communications Manager.
Work with designers and content creators to brief, review, and optimise assets (copy, creative, landing pages).
Collaborate with the Marketing, and wider Mary’s Meals teams to ensure campaigns support broader objectives.
Champion best practices in performance marketing across the organisation.

We are seeking experienced, values-led development support to build events participation and supporter conversion over six months through a realistic events programme, including Kiltwalk participation.
Scope and responsibilities
Register the Trust for relevant Kiltwalk events, where registration is required, and maintain an events tracker.
Develop a corporate recruitment approach, including targets, outreach templates and follow-ups.
Produce a digital-first Fundraising Pack and supporter journey, including welcome, tips, story prompts, assets list, stewardship and a thank you pathway.
Identify additional suitable events and recommend a realistic programme.
KPIs
Trust registered with agreed Kiltwalk events in the period.
For each Kiltwalk event, encourage corporate participation with up to 10 walkers per event, tracked through an outreach and sign-up funnel.
Events programme proposal completed, including at least three additional opportunities assessed and recommended.
Fundraising Pack completed and ready to deploy.

We are seeking a creative and strategically minded marketing professional who will establish and grow CsP’s digital platforms from the ground up, developing a distinctive brand voice and presence that is rooted in Sheffield Cathedral while clearly expressing the unique identity of the Community of St Paulinus.

Our client, a well-known anti-poverty charity is looking to recruit a Director of Policy & Engagement on a maternity contract of up to 12 months. This great charity provides front-line advice, advocacy and campaigning and policy work on behalf of people in London beneath pension age, who are experiencing issues around benefit payments, disability and housing or who are at risk of homelessness. The services they provide have become even more essential during the current cost of living crisis.
The role:
As Director of Policy & Engagement, you will lead the organisation’s policy, public affairs, and campaigns function, shaping and delivering local and national influencing to drive change on social security and housing issues. You will ensure the voices of people with lived experience are central to all of the organisation’s work, embedding meaningful participation across the organisation, in governance, services, policy and campaigns.
You will also oversee strategic external communications to support the organisation’s influencing, brand and fundraising objectives and will direct all fundraising for your department including managing funder relationships, identifying opportunities and leading on bid writing and reporting.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for influencing policy and practice locally and nationally and representing the charity as a spokesperson in the media, with government ministers, MPs, and other senior stakeholders.

The person:

They will have excellent media stakeholder and political engagement skills, with experience of acting as a spokesperson for an organisation. This person will value and embed lived experience in all aspects of their work and will have a strong understanding of social security and housing policy.
This person will also have substantial experience of leading on research for social policy influencing purposes in addition to having developed and shaped policy for an organisation in a charity which works towards combatting poverty and other social justice issues. Having managed political and media engagement and external influencing activities in the past, this person will be an effective relationship manager both internally and externally, in addition to having provided knowledge based leadership to small teams in the charity sector. In addition to being a highly effective project manager, this person will be a very strong communicator both verbally and in writing, and will be fully committed to the aims and objectives of this anti-poverty charity.
