About the role
The main objectives of this role will be to provide excellent supporter care to Shelter’s fundraisers, which will involve building relationships and giving fundraising and event support and advice and providing efficient administrative support to the department. We want to give you scope to grow into a confident and successful fundraiser, so you will receive training and provide supporter care and admin support across a variety of community & events activities, events and products across all three teams.
About you
Communicating with a variety of people: you will enjoy communicating with people in a variety of different ways, over the phone, face to face, by email, letter and over social media channels.
Time management & organisation: there’s a lot to do, particularly when we have fundraising products live and during the busy winter fundraising period, so it’s important to be able to manage your time well. The team has a really positive collective attitude to helping you do this, and they will suggest different tools and methods to stay on top of your work. But your being organised from the get-go is important.
Attention to detail: in all tasks, you will need to have a good eye for detail to make sure work is completed with a high level of accuracy.
Proactive: there are many activities to get involved with at Shelter, so being proactive ensures you get as much from your role as possible. Within your role you need to take initiative in setting up meetings, asking questions and suggesting/trying new ideas. Beyond this, taking advantage of volunteering in our shops or at events, and visiting local Shelter Hubs, is a great way to understand the cause and sector.
Willingness to be busy: everyone in the team has lots to do and has a range of responsibilities across different areas. To be successful in this role, you need to be willing to be busy during the working day and enjoy the variety this brings.
Flexibility: as this role will support work across the wider Community & Events team throughout the year, it is vital that the successful candidate is adaptable and willing to get stuck into different activities when needed. There will be occasional evening and weekend work to support events, for which time off in lieu will be given.
Positive attitude to learning: one of the most important aspects of the job is being positive and willing to learn. Being open-minded and keen to find solutions to problems is essential.

This is an exciting new role for the organisation which will focus on engaging with communities and recruiting and training volunteers to deliver peer support services for those living with lupus. As Community Services Coordinator you will work as part of a small, tight-knit team, and will facilitate co-production sessions with stakeholders across the lupus community, enabling beneficiaries to design and shape community-based services. Key responsibilities
The People & Operations Officer will have experience of working in a varied operational or office-based role, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector, though candidates from other sectors with relevant, transferable experience are very welcome to apply. Harris Hill is delighted to be supporting the recruitment of a People Engagement and Development Partner on behalf of our client, an international faith-based humanitarian organisation delivering life-changing healthcare and long-term health system strengthening in some of the world’s most underserved communities. With a growing supporter base and ambitious plans for the coming years, the organisation is now looking for an experienced people professional to help cultivate a strong, values-driven culture across its UK team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the People Engagement and Development Partner will play a central role in shaping the employee experience and supporting managers across the organisation. The postholder will provide day-to-day guidance on people management matters, including performance, wellbeing, employee relations and organisational development, working closely with managers to ensure consistent and effective people practices. The role will also champion organisational culture and values, supporting initiatives that strengthen engagement, collaboration and team dynamics. Alongside this advisory work, the successful candidate will contribute to the development of key people processes such as recruitment, onboarding, performance frameworks and learning and development opportunities, ensuring that staff are supported to grow and thrive. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, the role will help embed strong people practices, reinforce values and contribute to a healthy and supportive workplace culture.
We are looking for an experienced HR or people professional with strong generalist knowledge and the confidence to support and coach managers across a range of employment matters. You will bring a solid understanding of UK employment law alongside excellent relationship-building and communication skills, and will be comfortable handling sensitive situations with diplomacy and care. Experience developing people processes, delivering culture or engagement initiatives, and supporting learning and development programmes will be highly valued. This role would suit someone who is proactive, organised and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven environment.
