Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led learning programmes across a number of prisons. To ensure the continuation of our programmes during times of staff absence, we are now seeking to recruit a Prison Facilitator on a bank working basis to work across the west midlands region who is able to travel to cover sites in the wider area too. Working closely with prisons and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will support with the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme in the Central region, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.
Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships quickly and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. You will also have a willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice, to provide short or long term cover within the region including possible overnight stays.
This role will be prison-based. This is a bank role and so the number of days to be worked will vary and are not guaranteed. It’s an exciting and important time for our charity as we work to help more people out of homelessness and poverty as part of an ambitious strategy.
The newly created role of Federation Development Lead will sit within the Partnerships and Federation Development directorate, to support the delivery of key charity and federation-wide objectives, as part of our mission to empower people affected by homelessness and poverty to change their lives for the better while using our voice to achieve social change.

Role purpose:
Drive the growth of the primary education sector, leading on centre acquisition, income generation, and customer experience.
Develop and deliver integrated sales and marketing strategies, including digital lead generation, network development, key segment outreach, and data-led campaign planning.
Act as the sector lead, using insight to shape positioning, monitor market maturity, and influence internal and external strategy for long-term impact.
Key responsibilities:
Planning
Shape and deliver the Primary Sector Development Plan.
Sales & growth delivery
- Drive income and centre growth targets across all relevant programmes.
- Develop tailored acquisition and conversion strategies by segment, including cold outreach, warm lead nurture, events, and campaigns.
- Track and report against sector income targets, centre growth metrics, lead conversions, and ROI using dashboards and data analysis.
Marketing and lead generation
- Design and test sector-wide digital campaigns in collaboration with marketing teams and, where relevant, external agencies.
- Manage audience segmentation, personalised journeys, email marketing, and paid social media campaigns targeting school leaders, MATs, and parents.
- Plan and deliver events related to the Primary sector and represent the organisation externally when required.
- Contribute towards content strategy across case studies, impact stories, webinars, and sector PR/editorial opportunities as required.
Customer Experience (CX) & retention
- Lead on sector-specific centre onboarding, retention strategies, and cross-sell pathways.
- Be responsible for mapping and reviewing the customer journey, reducing friction for customers, and removing internal barriers.
- Develop Customer Experience led comms plans to ensure consistent, high-quality touchpoints that support relationship building and long-term value.
Collaborate across teams and support innovation
- Contribute to team planning meetings, training sessions, and department-wide initiatives.
- Support the induction of new team members and contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused team culture.
- Be an engaged member of the Engagement and Marketing Directorate and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Business Development.
Skills, experience, and knowledge
Essential
- Proven experience leading sales, sector development, or programme growth.
- Experience in designing and delivering multi-channel marketing or outreach plans, ideally across digital and in-person formats.
- Demonstrable success in achieving income and acquisition targets within a complex stakeholder environment.
- An understanding of education systems in the UK, particularly the primary sector.
- Experience of working on your own initiative, taking a pro-active approach to your work.

- High level of presentation skills to external stakeholders.

We are looking for a passionate and strategic Head of Developing Philanthropy to join the Environmental Funders Network (EFN) in this remote working role.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in growing environmental philanthropy across the UK and to help inspire funders to support causes that sustain a thriving planet.

The Role
Working closely with EFN’s Executive Director, you will lead on growing the amount of funding flowing to environmental causes from UK funders – including trusts, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals – by connecting and engaging with those not yet funding environmental causes at scale, and inspiring and supporting them to start giving or to give more.
You will form part of EFN’s Leadership Team, deputising for the Executive Director as needed, and will likely line manage a small team of 3–4 individuals.
You will:
- Revise and implement EFN’s Growing Environmental Philanthropy (GEP) strategy, working with the Executive Director, Board and GEP Advisory Group.
- Raise awareness of the need for environmental philanthropy through partnerships, events, communications and media opportunities.
- Identify and engage new funders and advisors through meetings, events, field trips and speaking engagements.
- Provide inspiration, advice, and practical resources for funders and advisors to start or expand their environmental giving.
- Support wider programme delivery, including the Big Give’s Earth Raise campaign and partnerships with organisations such as the Beacon Collaborative and Climate Lead.
- Contribute to fundraising for EFN’s GEP programme and support EFN’s financial sustainability.
About You
You’ll bring at least five years’ experience in fundraising or a related industry, with a proven track record of building and managing relationships with individual donors or high-net-worth clients. You’ll be a confident communicator and creative thinker with a strong commitment to environmental and social justice.
You will have:
- Strategic leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams.
- Excellent relationship management and influencing skills, with confidence in public speaking and representing EFN at high-profile events.
- Experience developing and delivering inclusive, outcome-focused events and programmes.

- Solid IT skills, including CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and virtual meeting platforms.
