About BABCP: The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) is a charity and the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the UK and Ireland. We are a membership body with around 27,000 members and as a professional organisation we promote, improve and uphold standards of CBT practice, supervision and training. What we are looking for?: We are looking for one new lay person to join our Board as ‘Lay Trustee Director’, meaning you will be both a trustee of the charity and a director of the company. Our Board is made up of ten Trustee Directors who are elected from within BABCP’s membership and up to three Lay Trustee Directors. We are looking for a Lay Trustee Director with a proven track record of excellence in their field, who can bring fresh perspectives and experience from other professional sectors and walks of life.

You should:

· Be able to take important decisions using sound, objective reasoning and with good attention to detail.

· Be willing to ask questions and constructively challenge the status quo.

· Be able to think creatively and strategically, while being committed to operating with integrity.

What will you be doing?: As a Trustee Director you will, as part of the wider Board, oversee the organisational structures, systems, policies and resources in place to achieve the charitable objects of the Association. You will help ensure that BABCP exclusively pursues its stated purpose against a defined strategy and in compliance with its governing document and relevant legislation and regulation. You will attend our Board meetings, reviewing all Board papers in advance. You may also be asked to participate in additional committees or working groups focused on specific themes areas, taking into account your areas of expertise and interest where possible.

The role is voluntary and unpaid, though travel and approved out-of-pocket expenses will be covered.

How you will you make a difference?: There are very few in the UK and Ireland who are not affected by the consequences of mental health difficulties. By volunteering your expertise and experience with BABCP, you will ultimately be helping to improve the mental wellbeing of those nations and to protect the public who are directly or indirectly impacted by mental health issues.

Basis Yorkshire is seeking a committed and values-driven individual to join our Board of Trustees as Treasurer. This is an opportunity to support a long-standing, specialist organisation working alongside sex workers and people experiencing sexual exploitation across Yorkshire.

Basis has over three decades of experience delivering trauma-informed, non-judgemental support, advocacy, outreach and education. We work with people across all sectors of the sex industry, as well as young people and adults at risk of or experiencing sexual exploitation. Our approach is rooted in dignity, agency, social justice and harm reduction, with the voices and experiences of the people we support at the centre of everything we do.

As Treasurer Trustee, you will play a key role in supporting the Board’s oversight of the charity’s financial health, sustainability and governance. While professional financial qualifications are not required, we are looking for someone who is confident in scrutinising financial information, asking constructive questions, and contributing to strategic decision-making.

We are particularly interested in individuals who share our commitment to challenging stigma and inequality, and who can bring thoughtful, independent judgment to Board discussions. Role Summary

The Company Secretary is the guardian of The Cyber Helpline’s compliance with both the law and best practice. The Company Secretary will play a key role in ensuring that Board procedures are followed and regularly reviewed. Acting as a resource for the Board, the Company Secretary will also provide guidance on Board members' responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

The Company Secretary will be responsible for the following:

• Ensuring the charity operates in accordance with its governing document, the Charities Act, and the Companies Act 2006. Advising the board on their duties and on any legal and regulatory changes.

• Being the subject matter expert on charity law and regulation within the Board. 

• Organising, attending, and taking minutes at trustee meetings (board and sub-committees), including preparing agendas and circulating papers.

• Supporting the trustees by commissioning papers and other work required by the board, recording and tracking progress of actions agreed

• Ensuring all mandatory returns, including the annual report and financial statements, are filed on time with Companies House and the Charity Commission.

• Informing the Charity Commission of any significant changes in the charity’s structure or management, for example, the appointment or resignation of Trustees.

• Assisting with the recruitment, induction, and training of new trustees, and managing conflict-of-interest registers.

• Maintaining accurate records, including the register of members and trustees, the register of any charges on the company’s assets and managing high-level correspondence.

• Maintaining the charity's registered office as the address for any formal communications. Ensuring that all the charity’s business stationery carries its name, registered number, country of registration and registered address. 

• Ensuring the security of the charity’s legal documents and owning the charity’s policy for the filing and retention of documents.

• Ensuring The Cyber Helpline has adequate insurance in place. 

• Ensuring the charity is compliant with relevant UK law & regulation. 

• Supporting the protection of intellectual property. 

Person Specification

This role would suit either someone in a Company Secretary role or someone with aspirations to become one. We are happy to support someone looking to make the transition into this role.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must be 18 years old or older and resident in the UK with the right to work in the UK. 

Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check (e.g. DBS). This is because the role involves access to sensitive information. Any disclosures will be considered on a case-by-case basis in line with relevant legislation.

Engagement: Trustee meetings are quarterly (three remote and one in-person). The individual will provide additional time as required, we expect this to be between 2-4 hours a week for 42 weeks of the year.

As a Network President for Oldham, Rochdale & Tameside– you will support the Network Lead; act as an ambassador to the local community on behalf of St John Ambulance and the Order of St John, promoting the charity’s objectives and our work within the local community.

You will have established links in the community and be able to help SJA achieve our charitable aims by developing relations both externally and internally with local units, volunteer managers, regional staff and with the County Priory Group and other Presidents. All you do will be aimed at supporting the area to fulfil our vision: ‘Everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.’

The role is only for people in Oldham, Rochdale & Tameside. You will need to attend a Network meeting that is two hours a week in Denton or Oldham.

Membership Secretary

Challenge Adventure Group (“CAG” for short and the operating name of CAG Trust) is a voluntary youth organisation for Knowle, Dorridge and beyond aimed at boys aged 10 and above.

As our name suggests, we provide challenging, adventurous and fun activities and the D of E Award for young people in their leisure time. Taking part in fun experiential activities enables members to develop their physical and mental skills and capacities and reach their full potential of becoming positive, active and happy citizens.

Summary

CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019. Our group is flourishing and we have a growing number of members who want to take part in our exciting program and challenging adventures. There is a lot of paperwork and payments to be completed and returned by parents and this has to be distributed, returned and logged along with the collection, chasing arrears and logging of membership fees. You will be working in conjunction with the Treasurer and Group Leader as well as being a Committee member.

Description

We are looking for someone to manage member registrations and termly membership renewals / fee collection. The membership secretary has a vital role to play at the start of each term and has an important role throughout the year maintaining members’ records as per GDPR guidelines.

The key tasks of the role are to:

• Maintain the database / spreadsheet of membership and parent details and enrol new members throughout the year.

• Discuss membership with potential new members, register new members and send out Welcome packs to new members.

• Ensure the parents and new member are comfortable in their first few months.

• Manage the membership renewal process at the beginning of each term. 

• Manage the distribution process of membership paperwork to include chasing missing paperwork. 

• Administration and chasing of unpaid / late membership fees.

• Work in conjunction of the Treasurer.

• Coordinate membership levels with Marketing manager to ensure membership is always full.

• Manage the Membership database, in addition to contact details, record Gift Aid Declarations, permission forms and any other relevant returned paperwork.

• Chase any non renewed members and archive as per GDPR guidelines as necessary.

• Conduct a membership audit if required by the committee and in liaison with the Group Leader.

• Respond to membership enquiries.

• Liaise with parents over any membership issues.

• Act as a member of the Committee.

• Attend training courses.

Ideally you should have / be:

• An ability to communicate with adults and young people, both verbally and in writing.

• An ability to organise and plan effectively.

• Office software literate.
