Across the UK, our 65 local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our Administrator volunteers are the lynchpin our local branch activities. They act as the first point of contact, ensure useful information is circulated to other members and help us make sure we keep all the data and details we need up to date.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

• Keeping records and data up to date and taking notes at meetings

• Preparing mail-outs

• Answering enquiries

• Accessing the branch Remap Email and Portal accounts

• Booking venues for meetings

• Ensuring branch members are aware of current agreements/activities

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

What you’ll need for this role

• Design eye-catching graphics: Use Canva to create appealing posts and event graphics to attract attention and engage followers.

• Engage with the community: Respond to comments, messages, and encourage group interaction to build a supportive environment. Share our group with relevant community pages and work to increase followers. 

• Develop an Auctions Newletter: Produce an exciting newsletter for our Auctions Supporters, keeping them up to date with the latest information and encouraging them to donate and take part in our monthly auctions.

Would you like to befriend a child or young person in care and make a long-term friendship with them? 

If yes, then volunteering for Reconstruct may suit you.

An Independent Visitor is an adult volunteer who befriends a young person in care and develops a long-term friendship with them. This often involves helping young people develop new interests, skills and hobbies or going on outings such as to the cinema, bowling or just a walk in the park.

You must be 21+, available for flexible working and able to commit to a minimum of 2 years. As a volunteer, you would spend about 2-4 hours every month with your allocated child.

Each volunteer is carefully matched with a child or young person in care in their local area who shares similar interests.

WHAT DO INDEPENDENT VISITORS DO?

• Visit a child monthly and becomes a trusted adult friend to them.
• Provide a consistent and reliable adult with a view to building a trusting and positive relationship with the child.
• Provide a child with the opportunity to try new activities and spend time with them away from their placement. This in turn can enhance progress and resilience of children, by building self-esteem, strengthening mental health, and opening new social relationships outside of the care system.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?

• Interpersonal Skills – Ability to easily build rapport an identify with children and young people.
• Communication – Excellent communication skills, good report writing skills.
• Committed – Willing to commit to a child for at least one year and preferably two years.
• Role Model – A good role model for a child or young person who may have experienced difficult times during their childhood.
• DBS Check – We will carry out safer recruitment checks and you will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check.

Examples of activities can include:

• Sports
• Play football 
• Cinema
• Bowling
• Go to the library

You will be allocated a budget for each visit for your activity, and payment of your expenses, are paid so you are not out of pocket. These include, travel costs, and parking.

As part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to attend necessary training for the role. Interviews will be arranged in due course thereafter.

Link Age Southwark is a vibrant local charity providing support to over 800 older people in Southwark who are feeling lonely or isolated. Our vision is for friendly local communities where older people and those living with a diagnosis of dementia can thrive in their later years.

All our volunteering opportunities are within the London Borough of Southwark, predominantly south of the borough - Camberwell, Peckham, Nunhead, Dulwich and around. 

One of the greatest challenges for many older people is access to suitable transport. As we age, our mobility decreases and sometimes we can lose confidence in our ability to leave the house independently. 

Our network of volunteer drivers provide a vital lifeline to many older people to help them get out and about and keep them connected with their local community.

We are able to provide transport to and from Link Age Southwark social groups. This role is all about providing an unhurried door-to-door service on either a regular or one-off basis. 

This role requires:

• owning a car with a full and clean driving license and suitable insurance cover (most insurance companies are charity friendly - we can help verify your car use if required)
• ensuring the vehicle you are driving is safe and legal
• sufficient fitness to drive - please inform us if there are any issues that may affect your driving ability
• patience and understanding towards the needs of older people, particularly those with mobility issues
• attendance at a volunteer induction and other relevant training opportunities
• completion of a full Disclosure Barring Service and character reference check
• a commitment to working within the policies of Link Age Southwark, in particular health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding and equality & diversity

BFUK are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate volunteers to support the delivery of our creative and educational hospital workshops. These sessions not only offer children and young people the opportunity to be imaginative, learn something new, and socialise, but also serve as a welcome distraction from time spent in the hospital. There is always something new to experience; previous workshops have included various crafts, make-up artistry, indoor gardening, hands-on VR demonstrations and mocktail making!

Our workshops take place in Great Ormond Street Hospital on Tuesdays and University College Hospital on Wednesdays.

As a Workshop Volunteer, you will:

• Assist with the preparation of workshop activities and support the sessions to run smoothly
• Chat and engage warmly with children, young people and their families during activities, offering encouragement and support
• Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team

Bright Futures UK is looking for passionate and knowledgeable KS3 Maths tutors to provide educational support and a fun, safe learning environment for young people living with long-term illnesses. 

What will you be doing? 

• Run tutoring sessions online to support a young person. 
• Offer subject area knowledge and expertise related to KS3 Maths. 
• Help to combat social isolation through fun and engaging tutoring sessions.

Following appointment to the IGA, independent members are eligible for nomination to the BoT after 1 year as an IGA independent member.

Appointments on the BoT are for a 4-year term limit.

The IGA is the highest body of the new Islamic Relief Worldwide governance structure and consists mainly of representatives elected by Islamic Relief family members across five continents, creating a body that is truly globally representative.  It is from the IGA that IRW draws its trustees.

We would like to hear from exceptional applicants with considerable experience and specialist knowledge in a range of professional backgrounds: law, accountancy, audit, humanitarian programming, PR/communications, marketing or fundraising, IT, charity financial policy and strategy, shariah compliance. Those selected will play a vital role in IRW’s strategic work and in helping us respond to key challenges.

• Promote IRW’s vision, mission and values and demonstrate IRW’s values in all of the IGA’s work.

• You may have engineering experience or be a skilled craftsperson, but this is not essential

• Using our online referral portal to manage and update case notes

• Attending regular meetings of the local branch

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

What you’ll need for this role

• Warm, approachable and confident to call referrers/clients to initiate discussions

Job description

The Helping Hands Community Trust provides a free independent, fully inclusive advice, care and support service to people whose lives are in crisis, are vulnerable and those disadvantaged by circumstance.

Reporting to the Advice Centre Manager, yours is a key role helping to ensure the smooth running and organisation of our services, providing the first point of contact with clients, stake holders, partners and funders who visit our South Wigston Advice Centre and Outreach Surgeries.

Our core services are delivered ‘face-to-face’, where first impressions are vitally important in helping people feel welcome and valued. An essential part of your work is exploring, understanding client needs in order to prioritise access to the most appropriate advisor.

You will be working with an enthusiastic team of paid and volunteer staff and your duties and responsibilities include: 

· To greet clients and visitors with a positive, caring and helpful attitude.

· Provide a service that is based on sensitivity and respect in responding and determining the needs of clients.

· Help ensure workplace security by maintaining client /visitor logs.

· Ensuring impartiality and confidentiality is preserved.

· To liaise with outreach team members at our Oadby and Wigston surgeries and partner locations.

· To receive, forward and screen incoming telephone calls and enquiries and make call backs.

· To liaise with advice staff regarding support for and the referral of individual clients.

· The entering of client details onto our AdvicePRO data base.

· Maintaining our online diary, entering details of clients, appointments with advisors utilising Office365 Bookings software.

· Confirming with clients that they are attending appointments.

· Announcing the arrival of clients / visitors to their advisor / appropriate team member.

· To facilitate online video calls, appointments and conferencing.

· Assisting with a variety of administrative tasks including sorting and dispatching mail, copying of documents,        maintaining the supply of advice and information leaflets.

· Maintain a diary of room bookings.

· Attend meetings.

· Undertake training that is appropriate to the role.

The Children’s Book Project is a grassroots charity, powered by volunteers at every stage of what we do. At our Book Sorting Hub at Seagulls LS11 9UD we would love you to join us as a Volunteer Coordinator, helping to oversee our regular book sorting events which take place during term time.

We are a very friendly bunch and you will be working as part of a small team working with our corporate groups. We try to give each group of volunteers the fullest insight into our work and so during the course of their time with us they will quality control, organise, sort and box books for delivery to schools ready to gift to children. Your role will be to lead them in these tasks to help them understand the value of their contribution and to help the day run smoothly.

The role

On any typical day with us this role might include:

Helping to set up for the day

Instructing small teams of volunteers how to check, sort or box books

Organising aspects of the day, for example having oversight of

donation packing requirements and ensuring these are met

Telling volunteers about our work and ways in which they can help

Who are we looking for?

Absolutely anyone can enjoy this role with us! You might have an interest in our aims, in children's books or in volunteering within your Local community. We are looking for people that enjoy communicating with others, working as part of a team and helping to make a tangible difference to the lives of children and young people throughout Leeds. The role can involve standing for periods of time so you should be mobile. You should have at least basic conversational English.

Anticipated commitment

Our shifts are 10.30 - 3.30pm, but we offer flexible commitments. Semi regular attendance helps us to plan but you can pick dates that work for you.

Bright Futures UK is looking for passionate and knowledgeable KS3 Science tutors to provide educational support and a fun, safe learning environment for young people living with long-term illnesses. 

What will you be doing? 

• Run tutoring sessions online to support a young person. 
• Offer subject area knowledge and expertise related to KS3 Science. 
• Help to combat social isolation through fun and engaging tutoring sessions. 
• Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team

What are we looking for? 

• Subject Knowledge: Strong understanding of KS2 and KS3 Science concepts and specifications.
• Teaching Skills: Ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.
• Empathy and Patience: Kind and understanding nature, especially towards those facing health challenges.
• Reliability: Consistent availability for the agreed-upon time commitment.
• You must be a UK resident and be at least 18 years old.
