Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes across a number of prisons.  We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Belmarsh (subject to contract award). Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Belmarsh, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read. 

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings  underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role will be prison-based. It’s an exciting time to join War Child as they have just launched their new Alliance initiative. The War Child Alliance brings together the five War Child fundraising members (in the Netherlands, UK, Germany and Sweden, plus Children in Conflict in the US), with 14 programme members, based in and around conflict-affected areas across the world and coordinated by a new international body: the War Child Alliance Foundation. Through the Alliance they are integrating programme activities under one umbrella – allowing War Child to combine strengths and pool resources – all with the aim to multiply impact for conflict-affected children.

As part of the Trusts and Institutional funding team of four you’ll work alongside the Head of Trusts and Institutional, Trusts Manager, Trusts Executive and the new Trusts and Institutional Funding Executive. The main task of the Institutional Funding Lead is to secure funding from UK-based institutional donors, with a primary focus on the FCDO.

You will drive forward dynamic and proactive engagement strategies directly with UK-based institutional donors and indirectly through consortia, as well as developing and supporting organisational positioning for contracts and grants.

This role will introduce innovative and agile funding approaches and models to enhance War Child UK’s competitiveness in a complex donor environment. You’ll achieve this by working closely with the War Child Alliance Foundation to research and analyse opportunities, enhance and support donor engagement plans, and drive forward engagement opportunities to maximise and secure funding.

About the role

• Develop and strengthen a network of contacts with relevant representatives from UK institutional donors and partners, primarily FCDO, institutional foundations and INGOs, to enable consortia to develop and grow.
• Identify funding needs within War Child and match them with institutional funding opportunities by engaging with country teams, the regional teams and the Alliance institutional funding coordination.
• Lead the co-creation, coordination, and design of complex and challenging proposals for institutional funding opportunities, including multi-country opportunities or large-scale consortium bids.
• Line manage the new Trusts and Institutional Funding Executive providing professional development and support.

About you

• Experience of co-creating, leading, and coordinating complex proposal development processes, ideally for relevant donors including FCDO and humanitarian pooled funds.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, with an up-to-date knowledge of relevant donors including FCDO, and humanitarian pooled funds.
• Experience in building networks, partnerships, and consortia to maximise programme impact and funding opportunities.

In this varied and fast-paced role, you will be responsible for developing relationships with key media outlets and influencers to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis, the issues faced by people with the condition and Cystic Fibrosis Trust across the UK. You will also support the delivery of the Trust’s internal communications activity and support the Events and Celebrity Liaison Manager in managing the Trust's external events programme and cultivating and retaining key celebrity supporters and influencers.

As a member of the Communications Team, you will help develop external and internal communications on our research portfolio, policy and campaigning work and fundraising initiatives. You will also proactively monitor and look for opportunities for timely responses to the news agenda on social media.

With a fantastic nose for a story, you will have outstanding writing skills and be able to turn complex issues into compelling stories to pitch to journalists and to share with staff. You will be aware of the UK’s charity, healthcare, and policy landscape and have a keen eye on the news agenda, keeping abreast of developing trends and spotting opportunities to pitch comment pieces and reactive statements.

The Senior Finance Officer will sit at the heart of our Operations Team, reporting to the Head of Operations and the Co-CEOs and playing a crucial function in ensuring the efficient day-to-day management of the organisation’s financial functions.

This will include all day-to-day management of our financial systems and banking, including our accountancy software (Quickbooks) and our internal financial spreadsheets. This involves recording and tracking the income expected from funders, processing invoices and payments, preparing payroll and producing monthly reconciliations and termly budgets. You will also work with our teams to ensure compliance with our financial policies, process expenses and work with our external accountants each year to provide the information needed for our accounts.

You will also research, advise and steer on both necessary changes to our processes, policies and procedures and standalone project work which may involve tasks such as reviewing our pensions processes or any savings and investments. You will understand and enjoy the challenge that working at a charity with multiple complex funding streams brings.

You will have experience of similar work, ideally in the charity sector and will be familiar with the use of both accountancy software and managing cashflows and budgets using Excel. You will have excellent communication and people skills as well as a proactive approach to problem solving and be methodical with a very keen attention to detail.

What you’ll be doing

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Senior Development Manager, you will work closely with the CEO, Director of Development and the Board to develop a giving strategy that will directly feed into our organisational strategy, with a focus on increasing engagement and the growth of the major donor income stream.

You will manage a portfolio of existing major donors and conduct prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship of donors giving gifts from £5,000 to £50,000.

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate conservation professional to join the Trust and play a key role in the care and conservation of our outstanding churches, a fascinating and unique collection of highly listed historic buildings.

Churches Conservation Trust is the national charity protecting historic churches at risk, ensuring they are enjoyed as social, tourism, educational and cultural resources, kept open, in use, and living once again in the heart of their communities.

As a Conservation Projects Manager and a key member of the national Conservation team, you will work with experienced consultants and skilled craftspeople, with national and regional colleagues, volunteers, local partners and stakeholders to develop and manage a range of holistic, conservation and new use projects, from inception to completion, and providing professional advice and support to community led projects.  You will lead on all capital, conservation and maintenance, programmes in the region.

You will have expertise and specialist knowledge in the field of historic building repair and conservation, and a proven track record of project management (client side) in the heritage sector. You might be a Building Surveyor, a Conservation Architect, an Estate Manager, or a Project Manager, in this continually varied and unique role you will be working on some of the most significant historic buildings in the country. As you’ll be working on projects across the region, but not exclusively, it is essential you have a full driving license.

The British Asian Trust is one of the most exciting and innovative charities working in South Asia. They were founded in 2007 by His Majesty King Charles III and a group of British Asian business leaders to tackle widespread poverty, inequality and injustice in South Asia. In recent years they have experienced substantial growth, with income increasing from £1m to £22m.

An estimated 172 million children in India are considered ‘at-risk’ from various forms of harm and exploitation. Children are made vulnerable by a complex network of interconnecting factors such as high levels of poverty, gender inequality, unsafe migration, cultural norms and poor implementation of schemes and laws. The Child Opportunity Fund’s goal is to create more safe spaces to ensure that millions of children can live their lives to the fullest potential. To achieve this, they are aiming to raise $25m which will be matched by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, totalling a $50m fund.

We are looking for an exceptional philanthropic fundraising leader, with experience of leading an appeal and first-hand programme management skills, to undertake a one year maternity cover as the Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the appeal, working collaboratively with the team to reach their significant fundraising targets across HNWIs, trusts, institutional funders and corporate partners.

About the role

As Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal, you will:

• accelerate and coordinate fundraising for the Child Opportunity Appeal across a diversified range of high value income streams in the UK, India, Dubai and globally;
• drive and implement the fundraising strategy, ensuring KPIs are monitored and met;
• coordinate internal working groups as well as external senior volunteers to ensure a consistent and aligned approach to fundraising and new donor engagement;
• produce effective prospect research and robust donor pipelines to secure major donations at the 6 and 7-figure level from HNWIs, corporates, trusts, foundations and institutional funders;
• ensure all donors and partners receive first-class stewardship and relationship management, working closely with in-country, programmes and communications colleagues to produce compelling proposals, reports and updates;
• support the CEO to manage the partnership with the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation;
• develop and deliver strong engagement opportunities and leverage cultivation event and project visit opportunities;
• contribute to financial planning and reporting, and develop processes and systems for effective fundraising and stewardship.

About you

Ideal skills and experience:

• Demonstrable experience of operating in a senior philanthropic leadership role with a strategic mindset and high levels of ambition
• Exceptional project/programme management skills
• Experience of running a significant philanthropic appeal/campaign, or playing a senior role in the delivery of a large project in a complex organisation
• Experience of implementing a fundraising strategy and successfully meeting KPIs and targets
• Strong track record in securing high value gifts from warm and cold donors and partners, including demonstrable ability to independently manage the fundraising process from research/identification to closing the ask
• Exceptional communication and networking skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders of all levels (SMT, Trustees, senior volunteers, donors, partners and colleagues)
• Strong team leadership skills with a supportive and motivating approach to rally colleagues across the organisation to deliver on the Appeal
• Ability to be both strategic and operational
• Ambitious, a natural-analyser, trustworthy, calm and proactive
