Job description

As our Training Manager, you will lead GamLEARN’s lived-experience-led training and workforce development. You will equip professionals to recognise gambling-related harm earlier and respond effectively, while helping members and contributors build the skills and confidence to participate safely and ethically. Working with colleagues and partners, you will shape an accessible, high-quality programme informed by lived experience, research and learning from delivery.

You will lead professional training, coordinate facilitators, develop future trainers and use evaluation to keep learning practical, inclusive and effective. You will work with members, colleagues and partners to strengthen participation and improve responses to gambling harm.

What you will be doing

  • Leading the planning, coordination and delivery of GamLEARN’s training programme for professionals, members and lived-experience contributors, in line with our public health approach to preventing gambling harm.

  • Delivering CPD-accredited and non-accredited training for justice, health, voluntary, community and other relevant sectors, strengthening professionals’ ability to identify harm earlier, respond appropriately and make effective referrals.

  • Designing and updating learning materials, session plans and practical activities informed by lived experience, research and delivery learning, and adapting them for different audiences, access needs and online or in-person delivery.

  • Coordinating the Training Facilitator and wider pool of lived-experience facilitators, agreeing delivery responsibilities, providing preparation and feedback, and maintaining consistent training standards.

  • Leading the Train-the-Trainer programme, supporting members to become confident facilitators through practice, feedback and readiness assessment, and coordinating accreditation where applicable.

  • Delivering facilitation and participation toolkit learning to help contributors and peer supporters build practical skills in facilitation, communication, boundaries and safe, ethical participation.

  • Working with the Head of Operations and Policy and Insight Manager to embed safeguarding, public health approaches and ethical lived-experience involvement across training.

  • Supporting facilitators and contributors with preparation, briefing, debriefing and reflective practice, and helping them make informed choices about sharing their experiences.

  • Working with the Membership Manager to identify learning needs and support members into training, delivery and wider participation, and co-producing accessible system-literacy briefings and shared resources.

  • Building training partnerships, promoting the programme with Communications colleagues, maintaining accreditation and quality standards, and using delivery, learner feedback and evaluation findings to improve training and report on outcomes.

What we are looking for

We are interested in hearing from candidates who have:

  • Relevant lived experience of gambling-related harm, either directly or as an impacted other.

  • Experience designing, delivering and evaluating training or structured learning for adults.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, including the ability to manage sensitive discussions and create supportive learning environments.

  • The ability to turn lived experience, evidence and complex information into clear, practical and accessible learning materials.

  • Experience delivering CPD-accredited training or maintaining training accreditation and quality standards.

  • Experience coordinating, supporting or developing trainers, facilitators, volunteers or colleagues.

  • The ability to adapt learning for different audiences, access requirements and online and in-person delivery.

  • Strong organisational skills, including planning programmes, coordinating delivery and maintaining accurate records.

  • The ability to build effective relationships with members, colleagues and partner organisations, alongside a commitment to inclusive, non-stigmatising practice and an independent public health approach to preventing gambling harm.

Desirable: a relevant qualification in training, teaching, adult education or learning and development; experience developing or delivering Train-the-Trainer programmes; knowledge of gambling-related harm and its links with criminal justice, health and wider social issues; experience in lived-experience-led organisations or co-produced learning; or experience evaluating learning outcomes and using CRM, online learning or reporting tools.

Why join us?

You will join GamLEARN at an important point in our development, with statutory gambling levy funding creating opportunities to strengthen support for people affected by gambling-related harm. You will play a central role in developing our training offer and helping improve responses across professional sectors.

Our team works remotely across the UK and values collaboration, inclusion, professional development and wellbeing. We offer 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, an additional birthday day off, access to an employer pension scheme, four weeks of discretionary company sick pay, free counselling support and an online GP service.

Application instructions

Please apply with your up-to-date CV and a covering letter of no more than two sides of A4 , explaining why you would like to join GamLEARN and how your skills and experience meet the essential criteria for this role.

Relevant lived experience of gambling-related harm, directly or as an impacted other, is an essential requirement for this role. We value the insight it brings and its safe, constructive use in supporting others.

This role requires the appropriate DBS check.
