The role in a nutshell:

We are looking for volunteers to help in our network of Age UK Cheshire shops throughout Cheshire. We have shops in Northwich, Macclesfield, Alderley Edge, Knutsford, Crewe, Ellesmere Port, Sandbach, Frodsham and Poynton. You will meet new people daily and have some fun while helping raise funds to help local older people in Cheshire.

What will you be doing?

Retail Volunteers carry out a wide range of tasks in our shop. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till or keeping our shop floor full and organised. You will meet and assist customers while raising funds which go directly to helping older people in Cheshire. You will gain useful retail skills and work experience for a recognised, valued and effective charity.

How would you be supported in this role?

Our retail volunteers receive an initial induction into the work and policies of our charity and then specific training on tasks within the shop. 

Why do we need volunteers in this role?

Age UK Cheshire operates charity shops to raise funds for the delivery of services for older people in need in Cheshire. Volunteers play a key role in the shop team, ensuring our shops are welcoming places in the community and selling the items that are generously donated to our charity.

• supporting with cat admissions and matching cats with prospective owners

No Panic is a national self-help charity, which supports people with a range of anxiety problems. We provide the No Panic Helpline and there is additional support services offered to members.

We are looking for volunteers to join our Content Team.

Volunteering as a Content Team Editor, involves:

· Sourcing articles about anxiety from Content Team contributors and from outside No Panic.

· Updating our blog up to once a week, by editing and publishing new content.

· Sharing content published on our blog to social media platforms.

It may also involve supporting Content Team Academics and Content Team Contributors to improve their articles.

Communication is through No Panic accounts, rather than your personal account. On some platforms you may need to use your account to access No Panic’s profile.

Can you help us to bring in the funds we need to make the food bank a success? 

We are looking for a volunteer Fundraising Lead to play a significant role in shaping a fundraising strategy, help raise awareness of Bounds Green Food Bank (BGFB) and generate income through events, projects and fundraising activities.

We currently raise money through grants, individual donations and community projects. We would like to broaden our fundraising initiatives and are looking for someone to raise funds, meet fundraising targets, raise our profile with key funding partners, and inspire relevant groups to support us.

About Bounds Green Food Bank: 

Open since June 2020, we serve over 1,500 children and adults in the community. We are committed to improving lives by providing food and essential household items and helping alleviate household food insecurity. We strive to promote social inclusion by supporting people and families in crisis situations and needing assistance.

The role: 

• Work with the Board of Trustees to agree a fundraising strategy, including setting annual fundraising targets

• Help to develop a fundraising team

• Identify income-generating opportunities and develop projects

The national charity No Panic supports people with anxiety problems, such as panic attacks, OCD, agoraphobia, social phobia & health anxiety. Our main service is our helpline.

We seek a volunteer to coordinate the Fundraisers Engagement Team, who liaise with people raising money for us by participating in challenges/contests.

The role is to keep track of current and potential fundraisers contacted by team members & the amounts of money raised, & involve other No Panic Teams as necessary.

FamilyLine operates as Family Action’s Helpline, open Monday – Friday, to anyone 18+ experiencing challenges related to family life. Volunteer shifts are currently available from 9am – 5pm.  

Volunteers use a digital system to volunteer from their own home, offering listening & emotional support, suggestions, guidance & signposting via telephone, webchat and text messages.

Volunteers are trained to support using an empathetic, people-focused approach to ensure everyone who accesses the service feels included and receives the support they need. 

Volunteers are also able to make referrals to other services, such as FamilyLine’s Counselling & Befriending service, or the Family Action grants programme.

How often would I need to volunteer?  
FamilyLine volunteers choose the days & times for their own shifts of at least 2 hours per week. We are looking for a commitment of at least 12 months.

The Chester Shop is a beautiful community hub with two floors of creativity and vintage treasures!

Our Chester Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We are growing our volunteering team and looking to recruit 2 Lead Volunteers for our Content Team. We’re looking for more people to join as volunteer media officers – this will involve writing press releases for our missing and unidentified appeals, giving interviews and forging partnerships with broadcasters and publishers.
