Purpose of the Role:

To support the delivery of engaging and inclusive academic sessions for newly arrived migrant girls aged 11 19 at the Baytree Centre as part of the Arrive and Thrive programme. The role involves assisting teachers in creating a positive and supportive learning environment, helping students with subjects such as ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Maths, and providing one-to-one support to those needing extra assistance. By offering guidance, encouragement, and structured support, the volunteer will contribute to the girls’ confidence, academic progress, and integration into formal education.

Main Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with teachers in delivering ESOL and Maths lessons.

- Provide one-to-one support to students, helping them overcome learning challenges and participate actively in lessons.

- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and able to contribute.

- Encourage students’ academic progress while promoting motivation and engagement.

- Strong academic background, ideally with GCSE or degree-level education in Maths and/or English, enabling competent academic support.

Purpose of the Role:

To inspire and guide girls aged 16–18 at the Baytree Centre through a focused six-session mentoring programme with a professional female role model. The Career Champions programme pairs young people with mentors working in their field of interest, for example, a girl aspiring to become an architect is matched with a practising architect, to provide insight into career pathways, develop professional skills, and build confidence. By sharing knowledge, experience, and encouragement, mentors support participants in making informed decisions about their future education and career choices.

Main Responsibilities:

- Deliver six structured mentoring sessions tailored to the mentee’s career interests and goals.

- Share knowledge, experiences, and practical advice about the mentor’s professional field.

- Introduce mentees to key skills, qualifications, and opportunities relevant to the chosen career.

- Support mentees in setting short- and long-term career-related goals, providing guidance on how to achieve them.

- Foster a positive and supportive relationship that builds the mentee’s confidence, motivation, and resilience.

This includes Her Space (Spark) for girls in school year 10 and above, Future Me (Jr Spark) for girls in years 8–9, and Step into Secondary (Sparklers) for girls in year 7. This involves co-facilitating weekly workshops that embed essential life skills and promote Baytree’s five Character Development traits: Resilience, Self Control, Fairness, Purpose, and Good Judgement. You will contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where girls can explore important topics, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive.

Main responsibilities:

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a library of reusable, age-appropriate session plans.

- Engage with girls to incorporate their interests and ideas into session content.

- Assist in the delivery of group sessions, workshops, and activities.

- Research and source materials and resources to enhance session quality.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. The King’s Trust couldn’t function as well without the support of thousands of volunteers across the UK, who are able to offer a vital network to young people facing significant barriers to jobs, education or training.

Our Employability and Progression Mentors provide one-to-one support, guidance, encouragement, and inspiration to a young person who has completed a King’s Trust Programme. As an Employability and Progression Mentor, you will offer knowledge, experience, and support to young people as they develop the skills, confidence and motivation to succeed - either in education or further training, through work experience, volunteering or by securing a job of their choice.

Mentors will meet on a regular basis with a young person and help them identify and achieve goals. You will offer guidance, support and encouragement and a safe space for a young person to discuss the skills they need to develop and how to do this. You will provide guidance on employability and job search issues, including supporting with CV writing and interview practice. You will provide active support between sessions as agreed, such as reviewing documentation, email responses, signposting where to find useful resources, networking connections; etc… And you will share relevant learning and useful resources with other volunteers and Trust colleagues that may benefit young people and our work.

Ideally an Employability and Progression Mentor will commit to around four to six hours per month for a minimum of 3-6 months for each mentee with whom they are matched. Relevant experience can be developed during the role but ideally a volunteer will have experience with building trust with young people from a range of backgrounds, mentoring skills, be a good communicator, be able to give and receive constructive corrective feedback and have experience of job searches, application processes and interview experiences.

We are specifically recruiting new mentors to meet a demand for in-work support and job-searching for roles in the Health and Social Care sector. Experience in this sector is desirable but not essential, with a focus on general coaching and employment support being the main priority for volunteers in this position. The majority of these mentoring connections will be fostered online, via digital meetings and email, with limited opportunities for face-to-face connections available depending on location and preference of mentees.

As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping people in the local community know where to turn when they need urgent mental health support. You’ll be out and about in the community spreading the word about the our service — chatting to local people, connecting with community centres, faith groups and local organisations, and sharing information through leaflets and posters.
