Hi, I’m John, the founder of The Ootsider. We are an West Lothian -based social enterprise on a mission to provide warmth, dignity, and comfort to those experiencing rough sleeping. Using a "buy one, give one" model, the profits from our premium, hand-made in Scotland outdoor robes directly fund the production of our bespoke, weather-proof, sleeping coats which we donate free to rough sleepers across the UK.

To help us scale our impact and protect more people from the harsh elements, we are looking for a superstar Volunteer Grant Writer & Fundraiser to join the team and help us secure vital funding.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working directly with me, you will:

·Research Opportunities: Scout out trusts, foundations, and corporate grants that support homelessness, social enterprise growth, and Scottish community manufacturing.

·Craft Compelling Bids: Take The Ootsider’s proven impact story and weave it into persuasive, professional funding applications.

·Manage the Pipeline: Help keep a simple calendar of upcoming deadlines so we can plan our applications effectively.

What We’re Looking For

·A Passion for the Cause: You care about tackling homelessness and believe in the power of social enterprise.

·Strong Writing Skills: You can write clearly, persuasively, and concisely to meet strict word counts.

·Independence: You are comfortable working on your own initiative, managing your 8 hours a month effectively.

Are you an experienced fundraiser, business development professional, partnerships manager, sales professional or marketer with a proven ability to build relationships and generate new income opportunities?

Do you want to use your skills to help transform lives while being rewarded for the funding you successfully secure?

Project Yananai is seeking ambitious, proactive and results-driven Fundraisers to join our growing global Advancement team. We're looking for people who can identify opportunities, build strong relationships and convert them into sustainable funding that enables our programmes to create lasting social impact.

Working alongside our Chief Advancement Officer and Deputy Chief Advancement Officer, you'll play a key role in securing the funding needed to expand our work across India, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This role is offered on a Commission-Based Agreement, rewarding individuals for the funding they successfully secure.

Key Responsibilities

·Research and identify funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, institutional donors, corporate partners and philanthropic organisations.

·Build and maintain relationships with prospective funders, partners and supporters.

·Develop compelling grant applications, funding proposals and sponsorship opportunities.

·Generate new fundraising leads through networking, outreach and relationship building.

·Manage funding opportunities from initial prospect through to successful award.

·Work collaboratively with programme teams to develop high-quality funding proposals.

·Maintain an active pipeline of funding opportunities using our CRM and AI-powered fundraising platform.

·Represent Project Yananai professionally with donors, corporate partners and external stakeholders.

·Contribute ideas and initiatives that help grow Project Yananai's fundraising capability.

·Support donor stewardship and help build long-term funding relationships.

About You

·You may come from a charity fundraising, business development, partnerships, sales, account management, corporate relationship management or marketing background.

·A proven ability to generate income, win new business, secure funding or develop strategic partnerships.

·Excellent relationship-building and networking skills.

·Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.

·A proactive, self-motivated and target-driven approach.

·Excellent organisational and time management skills.

·A genuine passion for creating positive social impact.

·Previous fundraising or grant-writing experience is advantageous but not essential. We welcome applications from professionals with transferable experience in generating revenue, developing client relationships or securing commercial opportunities.
