Unfortunately cats can occasionally stray or get lost, which can be extremely distressing for their owners. Our lost and found volunteers are passionate about reuniting lost cats and bringing families back together. They help cats and their owners by advertising lost cats and providing support, advice and guidance to people searching for their cats.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Responding to enquiries from the public about lost and found cats
• Keeping up to date records of lost and founds cats
• Matching cats that are reported lost with those reported found
• Advertising lost and found cats
• Providing help and information to owners about their lost cats

Time expectation 

Our lost and found volunteers usually spend between 2 to 3 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Our branch team leader volunteers lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and employees, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

A bit more information about this role and the team

Pembrokeshire is a new branch, is currently be focused on neutering domestic and feral cats, and fundraising. The new Branch Team Leader will be well supported to recruit more volunteers and gradually expand the ways we can help cats in Pembrokeshire, including rehoming. 

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident
• Making sure the team observes charity best practice and compliance
• Collaborating with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
• Leading the team to follow Cats Protection policies, procedures and guidelines
• Monitoring expenditure and helping ensure long term financial stability of the volunteer group
• Organising and chairing team meetings
• Acting as an ambassador for Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our branch team leader volunteers usually spend 10 to 15 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. There will be times of year when more hours are required, such as towards the end of the financial year, but support and guidance are available.

RideWise is looking for new Trustees to help guide the charity through its next stage of development.

We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Charity finance and financial oversight
• HR and organisational leadership
• The NHS, public health or demonstrating health impact

About RideWise

RideWise is a Nottingham-based charity that helps people lead healthier, happier and more sustainable lives through walking, cycling and active travel.

We work with communities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, supporting thousands of people each year. Our work includes cycle training, walking programmes, community engagement, accessible cycling, bike recycling and practical support to help people travel more actively.

The role

As a Trustee, you will work with the rest of the Board and our senior management team to:

• Help shape RideWise’s strategy and future direction
• Provide constructive support and challenge
• Oversee the charity’s finances, governance and management of risk
• Bring knowledge and insight from your area of expertise
• Act as an ambassador for RideWise and the communities we support

All Trustees share responsibility for the overall governance of the charity. You do not need previous trustee experience, provided you are willing to learn and can bring relevant skills, sound judgement and a commitment to our work.

Make a difference to the lives of rescue cats! We have a number of roles within our cat rescue based in York. 

Home visitors

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare & quality of life for the cats & kittens in our care.

Our home visit volunteers help us to assess each home environment and a families circumstances to ensure our cats are suitably matched to their new family. This is a vital step in our rehoming process to ensure our cats get the happy ending they deserve.

You can dedicate as much or as little of your free time to this role- picking up outstanding home visits as and when you can.

This role can also be done remotely (from home) if necessary or preferred.

We rely on our fantastic team of dedicated volunteers to continue our work and would love for you to join us.

Fundraising

We are looking for cat loving people with a little free time and lots of ideas to join our fundraising team!
 

This role includes all aspects of fundraising including organising and taking charge of ideas/ events with the support of the wider team and helping out at events. 

We need your help to raise much needed funds to support the work that we do and help give cats and kittens in need a better future. 

Fostering

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare and quality of life of cats & kittens in our care.

• Do you love cats but unable to commit to one of your own?

• Do you live approx 40 min radius of York?

• If you have pets, do you have a spare room to foster cats/ kittens in need?

• Do you have access to a vehicle?
   

We are looking for people to join our wonderful supportive team of foster carers! 

Caring for cats/ kittens in your home while they undergo rehabilitation and wait to be adopted doesn't cost you a penny. We provide full training & support along the way.

Transport Volunteers

We are always looking for transport volunteers to join our team. This role involves transporting animals, equipment and donations too and from various locations in and around the York area. We may also occasionally need help transporting cats and equipment from further afield. 

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

What we need from you

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
• help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

• Using online map searches to match cats and kittens to new homes

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

The branch is looking for indoor fosterers so any applicants would have to have a suitable spare room

What we need from you 

• A stable, safe and compassionate environment in your home or in a purpose-built pen in your garden provided by us
• Enrich the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and appropriate handling/interaction
• A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare
• Introduce cats to prospective adopters so they can find their forever home
