Volunteer positions currently available:

Support Session Volunteer 

You’ll be supporting people over the age of 18 with disabilities, this may include those with poor mental health, learning difficulties, autism and other disabilities.  Your role will include supporting clients to understand and undertake a task on a one-to-one basis.  The task will vary from client to client as will the needs of the individual.

As a support session volunteer, you might:

• help people have their say when it matters most
• Helping individuals navigate challenges and ensuring their needs are met
• help people to make complaints and use local services

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

What does the Clinical Trustee role involve? 

As our Clinical Trustee, you will provide expert clinical oversight and strategic counsel to the Board of Trustees. Working closely with the Medical Director and senior clinical leaders, you will support the development of our long‑term clinical strategy, uphold high clinical standards, and ensure strong clinical governance across regulated and unregulated settings.

You will also chair the Clinical Advisory Group and serve as a member of the Risk and Assurance Committee, ensuring robust oversight of clinical quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

This is a pivotal role at an exciting moment for St John Ambulance as we expand our impact and continue to strengthen our ability to deliver high‑quality care in communities across England.

What We’re Looking For

You will be a registered healthcare professional (GMC, NMC or HCPC) currently in clinical practice, with strong experience of clinical leadership at trust or corporate level

Is this role for me? 

• A current professional registration and active clinical practice.
• An understanding of the realities of delivering healthcare outside traditional settings and bring sound judgement, strategic insight, and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience at Board level or as a charity trustee.
• Experience of clinical governance and improving clinical quality.
• Ability to work effectively with volunteers in a complex organisation.

This is a voluntary role, and the term of office is three years in the first instance, with a further three-year term by mutual agreement.

The Branch Chair role is vital to the running of the branch as they act as a leader and a coordinator for the branch. Without these roles, we would not have as many branches as we do.

What you will be doing

• Planning, arranging, and chairing committee meetings and public meetings.
• Along with other committee members, representing the branch at external meetings e.g. with local services for autistic people.
• Delegating tasks to other committee members or volunteers
• Raising the profile of the NAS within your branch and local community.
• Ensuring your branch complies with NAS policies including risk assessment, data protection and safeguarding
• Monitoring branch income and expenditure in partnership with the treasurer and authorising branch payments
• Supporting fundraising in your branch
• Co-ordinating and promoting local campaigns and bringing others on board to help you
• Keeping your Senior Branch Engagement Officer informed about branch activities and events
• Overseeing the moderation of the branch online support group / forum
• Liaising with newsletter editor on contents and production of bi-monthly newsletter
• Motivating the team involved in running your branch
• Trying to resolve any difficulties experienced by your branch
• (NB In the case of Co-Chairs, the above tasks would be shared between the two)

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Cats Protection helps thousands of cats every year. Our fundraising volunteers play a vital role in making this possible. By using your passion for cats and people, you’ll help raise the funds needed to support more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we’ll support you to get involved in a way that suits you best. Whether you enjoy organising events, fundraising online, promoting activities on social media, helping with administration, or coming up with fresh ideas — there’s a place for you here. Whatever your skills or interests, this could be the perfect role.

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

Time commitment

This role is flexible and designed to fit around your other commitments. You’ll be part of a friendly team raising vital funds — and having fun along the way.

Would you like to help East Ayrshire Women’s Aid improve the lives of women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse in East Ayrshire? Do you have a willingness to learn, share your skills and work as part of a team? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you might be interested in becoming a Director of East Ayrshire Women’s Aid.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team delivering vital support to vulnerable women, children and young people in East Ayrshire. You do not need to know everything there is to know about domestic abuse, but they do need to know that you are reliable and committed to our principles and values.

The position is voluntary, but East Ayrshire Women’s Aid will provide you with training and support and pay your expenses. The Board meets at least six times a year, usually on Saturday mornings.
