Lead Volunteer Role Description
- To update the Volunteers’ Rota from the Court diary and ensure that each Volunteer in the team and the CCSS office has a copy. Wherever possible, the Rota should be kept on a computer for updating and emailed to the rest of the team and the office.
- Ensure sufficient numbers of Volunteers are on duty for effective and appropriate support for bereaved families and witnesses who attend the Inquests.
- To arrange and re-arrange the Rota between the Volunteers, noting any holiday or leave of absence dates.
- Ensure a finalised Rota is sent to the office at the end of each month in order for volunteer expenses to be checked and processed.
- To ensure that all the Volunteers have each other’s contact details and the Volunteer emergency contact details are included in the court file and updated when changes occur.
- To ensure monthly and yearly statistics are kept up to date and to send the Monthly Statistics to the Volunteer who collates the stats at the end of each month.
- To ensure there are sufficient Report Forms for the Volunteers’ use if collecting stats in paper format. If alternative methods of collecting stats are used, to ensure that the team are all using the same method.
- To inform the Operations & Training Manager and the CCSS office of the need for more Volunteers or of any leavers.
- To assist with the recruitment interviews and induction of new Volunteers.
- Responsible for the support of new Volunteers and their final sign off. Where the Lead Volunteer has concerns about the level of support required or the competency of a new Volunteer, they should refer those concerns to the Operations & Training Manager.
- To organise Volunteer team meetings (minimum of 3 meetings per year) and to inform the Operations & Training Manager and the CCSS office via email of the dates of these so they can attend if necessary/appropriate.
- To immediately refer any serious concerns raised by the Coroner or Coroner’s Officers to the CEO.
- To inform the CEO immediately of any issues or concerns that arises at the Court that might impact on the CCSS.
- To provide local information for the Helpline Court Information Sheet when requested.
- To ensure the team follow the practices of the court and work in partnership with the court staff.
- To forward any testimonials about the support provided by our volunteers to the CCSS office.
- Responsibility for maintaining the stock of CCSS leaflets.
- Organise cover for themselves when they are on holiday or need to take time off.

This Role Holds the Line Where Community Meets Trauma
Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is building survivor-centred, community-owned digital spaces where truth-telling, learning, and healing take place. These spaces are powerful — and without strong moderation, they can also become unsafe. The Community Moderation & Safety Lead exists to ensure that our online and digital communities remain safe, boundaried, respectful, and trauma-informed, without becoming policed, silencing, or extractive.
This is not a passive moderation role. It is a systems and safety leadership role.
Purpose of the Role
This role is responsible for:
- Protecting members from harm.
- Preventing retraumatisation.
- Upholding community standards.
- Supporting moderators and volunteers.

Experience Qualification and Requirements
Essential experience
- Experience in community moderation or community management, online or offline, with responsibility for maintaining healthy and safe spaces.

- Experience in trauma-informed or survivor-led contexts, or demonstrated ability to communicate safely and respectfully around sensitive topics.
- Experience responding to harmful behaviour, conflict, harassment, or boundary violations, including knowing when to escalate.
- Experience maintaining clear records/logs (incident notes, actions taken, outcomes) with professionalism and attention to confidentiality.
Essential skills
- Strong ability to set and uphold boundaries and community standards consistently, without escalating conflict or causing harm.
- Excellent judgement in identifying risk indicators, prioritising urgent concerns, and following escalation pathways precisely.
- Calm, respectful communication style with the ability to handle challenging conversations and emotionally difficult content.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties
- Design and oversee community moderation systems across platforms, ensuring consistent standards, clear workflows, and survivor-centred safety practices.
- Develop and maintain community guidelines covering acceptable conduct, boundaries, tone-of-voice, confidentiality expectations, and consequences for breaches.
- Create and manage escalation pathways so volunteers can respond quickly to risk, route concerns correctly, and avoid delays or unsafe handling of disclosures.
- Lead and support volunteer moderators and facilitators through onboarding, coaching, decision support, and ensuring consistent moderation decisions across spaces.
- Monitor community spaces for safeguarding concerns, harmful or abusive language/behaviour, boundary violations, and patterns of escalating risk.
- Act as the first escalation point for high-risk conversations and disclosures that may require safeguarding action, ensuring urgent concerns are prioritised.
- Coordinate closely with key safeguarding stakeholders including the Safeguarding Officer, Content Approval & Safeguarding Coordinator, and Membership Director to align decisions and prevent gaps.
- Take appropriate moderation action in line with protocols (e.g., warnings, content removal, access restrictions, referral/escalation), while maintaining a calm and consistent approach.
- Maintain incident logs and moderation records that are accurate, timely, confidential, and suitable for internal review and accountability.
- Review patterns of harm or risk (themes, repeat users, platform weaknesses, vulnerable moments) and recommend improvements to guidelines, systems, volunteer training, and prevention controls.

We are currently seeking a Finance Trustee to join our Board as Treasurer. Treasurer Role:
The primary role is to ensure alongside other Trustees that they accept ultimate responsibility for the affairs of G&C and ensure that it is solvent, well run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up. As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls, and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.
- Overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts, and annual financial statements, as produced by the finance team or others where appropriate, to the Board of Trustees
- Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
- Liaising with any paid staff about financial matters, as appropriate.
- Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial reserves, and cost management.
- Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems.
- Drawing any major financial concerns to the attention of the trustee and the management team.
- Ensuring that the charity has appropriate reserves in line with its reserves policy, and monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

The Person We’re Looking For:
- A finance professional with a firm understanding of charity finance and some experience of fundraising and pension schemes.
- Knowledge of charity fundraising, bid writing, and/or other income generation and/or securing funding through creation or leveraging of partnerships and networks (at a national or local level).
- A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity and the skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences.
- Clear communicator with the ability to explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders.
- Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, and liaising with auditors.
In addition, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all Trustees.

- Demonstrating a commitment to G&C’s objectives
- Contributing to setting the strategic goals and monitoring performance by active participation in Board discussions and decision-making
- Actively assisting the charity to build their connections and partnerships for the purposes of most effectively delivering their goals and fundraising
- Ensuring that G&C complies with its governing documents, the law, and all other relevant documentation
- Helping to identify risks and ensuring appropriate controls are in place

Who we are looking for
We’re seeking two trustees who each bring distinct strengths. The first should have experience in safeguarding, ideally gained through work with volunteers, or in community settings. You could have a background in adult and children’s services, care, or service delivery organisations that utilise volunteers at scale.
You’ll provide board-level oversight of our safeguarding and ensure best practice in policies and legal considerations.
The second trustee should bring grant-making experience, preferably with an understanding of how fundraising and grants work together in a charitable context. You’ll help us through support and challenge to improve our impact reporting, storytelling and the strategic pipeline between fundraising and grant distribution. Commercial thinking and an appreciation of how to demonstrate impact to attract donors would be valuable.
Time Commitment

The Cathedral Safeguarding Committee acts as ‘critical friend’ and provides constructive challenge to the Chapter of Worcester Cathedral regarding the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. Its role is to support Chapter in meeting their safeguarding obligations for the Cathedral and its activities, including safer recruitment, and to provide assurance to Chapter that the Cathedral’s safeguarding arrangements are fit for purpose.

Responsibilities
- to provide independent perspectives on safeguarding policy and practice at Worcester Cathedral.

Commitment
Meetings: The Safeguarding Committee meets formally 4 times per year (usually during the daytime, although times may vary). The duration of meetings is a maximum of two hours.
Papers are received in advance and all members of the Safeguarding Committee are expected to have read the papers and be prepared to contribute as needed to discussion.
Expenses can be claimed for attendance at meetings or carrying out functions on behalf of the Committee.

Could you help to raise vital funds for SSAFA in your local area? You don’t need a military background, just the ability to get on with all kinds of people and some occasional free time.
What is a Branch Fundraiser?
As part of a local team, our fundraisers represent SSAFA at events, and in public. The role includes helping at fayres, street collections, concerts, quizzes, raffles, sporting events etc.
Why do we need you?
SSAFA branches rely on regular charitable income to fund all the necessities behind our support for clients. This includes volunteer travel expenses, phone bills, publicity and grants for clients in urgent need. A varied programme of fundraising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role involves being out and about at public events and would suit someone looking to give the occasional day, half day or evening to support SSAFA; when and where would be flexible to suit you.
What would you be doing?
Examples of tasks would include:
- Being part of a team with collection/buckets tins at events, supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.
- Acting as a marshal at a public event e.g. handing out water to runners, supervising parking etc.
- Being part of a team running a stall at an event, Armed Forces Day, fayre, county show etc.
- Helping with putting up posters, building gazebos, serving refreshments, packing/unpacking cars etc.
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA, engaging people of all backgrounds and interests
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

The Chapter constitutes the board of charity trustees of Worcester Cathedral (registered charity: 1207427). The Chapter comprises members who are lay and ordained, executive and non-executive as set out in the Cathedral’s Constitution. The non-executive members provide constructive challenge, input and support to the Cathedral’s strategic direction and operational implementation.
Commitment
Meetings: The Chapter currently meets formally 8 times per year (including two away days), usually for four hours on a weekday morning. Papers are received in advance and all members of the Chapter are expected to have read papers and be prepared to contribute as needed to discussion.
The Chapter does not normally meet in August. Expenses can be claimed for attendance at meetings or carrying out functions on behalf of the Chapter. Non-executive members of the Chapter will serve as lay canons of the Cathedral (or honorary canons if ordained), having the right to the title of ‘Canon’ and of being assigned a stall in the Cathedral’s 14th Quire. Non-executive members of the Chapter are required to adhere to the Chapter Member / Trustee Code of Conduct
Responsibilities of the Chapter:
A non-executive member of the Chapter shall take a full part in the discussions and decision-making of the Chapter as it fulfils its statutory responsibilities:
- to order the worship and promote the mission of the Cathedral;
- to formulate proposals in connection with the strategic direction and mission of the Cathedral;
- to manage all property vested in the Cathedral and the income accruing from it;
- to ensure that necessary repairs and maintenance of the Cathedral and its contents and other buildings and monuments are carried out;
- to attend to all matters concerning the appointment of staff to the Cathedral;
- to prepare an annual budget for the Cathedral;
- to prepare an annual report and accounts;
- to keep under review the Constitution and Statutes of the Cathedral;
- to ensure legal and regulatory compliance;
- to meet safeguarding requirements and ensure best practice;
- to exercise the power if necessary to provide for the incorporation of limited companies for the better management of the Cathedral.
Contributing to the Cathedral's Life, Worship and Mission:
A non-executive member of the Chapter shall contribute the skills and experience they bring to the Cathedral as opportunity allows, for example:
- by serving on such incorporated limited companies as the Chapter may establish, on sub-committees of the Chapter and on any working groups of the Chapter as may be created;
- by attending and contributing to worship at the Cathedral;
- by contributing to the ministry of hospitality offered at the Cathedral and to such other Cathedral activity as may be appropriate;
- by acting as an advocate for the Chapter of Worcester Cathedral within and beyond the Church of England, across the city, the Deanery and the Diocese of Worcester and the wider region;
- by serving as a Canon of the Cathedral, being seen and present as such, as may be appropriate;
- by providing critical friendship and constructive challenge to Chapter colleagues, the Chief Officers and the wider Senior Executive Team.
In general:
- to ensure their own compliance with the Chapter’s policies and procedures, and contribute to the review and development of policy and practice;

- Communicant member of the Church of England (within the meaning given in Rule 83(2) of the Church Representation Rules), or a communicant member of a Church which is not in communion with the Church of England but subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity

Release Counselling and Therapy for Women (Release) is a small charity in Sussex with a big impact and have been supporting the mental health of thousands of women, since 2013. We specialise in supporting the mental health of women at key moments in their lives from parenting to peri/menopause.
Founded in 2013, our charity is led by women, for women. Women are at the highest risk of suicide up to a year after giving birth and during perimenopause. And we provide mental health support for women at these key times in their lives.
We offer therapeutic groups for mums and birthing parents and women in midlife, along with wellbeing days and a women’s one-to-one online counselling service.
