Purpose of the Role

As a Collection Tin Volunteer, you’ll play a vital part in supporting Momentum’s fundraising in your local community. This is a friendly, social role that gets you out and about on your local high street, building positive relationships with shop owners, café staff, and pub teams who support our charity or want to start supporting us.

You’ll commit a few hours each month to finding new local businesses to support our cause, as well as visiting existing business supporters to collect full donation tins and replace them with empty ones (at least every three months).

You will be responsible for handling and banking cash in line with the Fundraising Regulator and Momentum’s policies with training and oversight from the Community Fundraiser. To do this, you must hold a valid DBS or be willing to obtain a DBS upon application. Your contribution helps raise essential funds while also spreading awareness of Momentum and the work we do for local families.

We are particularly keen to hear from volunteers able to cover the following areas:

Addlestone, Ashtead, Barnes, Chertsey, Chessington, Cobham, Dorking, Effingham, Epsom, Leatherhead, Shepperton, Sunbury, Sutton, Teddington, Twickenham, and Worcester Park.  Sussex.

By volunteering as a Collection Tin Volunteer, you’ll not only make a meaningful difference locally, but also gain new skills, confidence, and social connections.

Key Responsibilities

· Collecting full donation tins from local shops, cafés, pubs, and other venues

· Replacing collected tins with empty ones in a timely and professional manner

· Researching new areas and businesses for tins to be placed

· Building friendly, positive relationships with local business owners and staff

· Raising awareness of Momentum and its work to encourage new support

· Ensuring all collections follow Momentum’s policies and procedures

· Safely transporting collected tins and returning them as instructed

· Safely counting and banking cash collected in line with the charity’s policies

· Keeping the fundraising team informed of completed collections or any issues

About Katherine Low Settlement

Katherine Low Settlement is a busy, local charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation. We run a range of our own community services to support local older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people every year.

About the Role

KLS is looking for a Treasurer Trustee to bring financial insight, sound judgement and strategic challenge to our Board. This is a rewarding opportunity to help a community-focused charity stay financially strong, well governed and able to make a lasting difference for people in Battersea and Wandsworth.

What You’ll Do

• Guide Board-level understanding of KLS’s finances, risks and long-term sustainability.

• Chair the Finance Committee and help turn financial information into clear, confident decisions.

• Provide Board level scrutiny of budgets, management accounts, reserves, cash flow, controls and annual accounts, including reviewing income and expenditure, monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds, and supporting year-end reporting.

• Provide constructive challenge on funding, strategy, financial planning and major commitments, including grant budgets, funder reporting, reserves planning and financial sustainability.

• Champion transparent, ethical financial stewardship that supports safe, effective services.

• Contribute to wider discussions on strategy, governance, safeguarding and organisational sustainability, in a more general trustee capacity.

Who We’re Looking For

• Financial confidence, curiosity and clarity, with the ability to read the numbers and ask thoughtful questions.

• Ability to help others engage with finance in a practical, accessible way.

• Experience in finance, accountancy, audit, risk, grant management, charity finance, trusteeship or the voluntary and community sector.

• Understanding of charity finance, including monitoring restricted funds, reviewing management accounts, supporting reserves policy, preparing for audit or independent examination, and helping trustees understand financial risks.

• A professional accountancy qualification is welcome but not essential if you have broader financial leadership or governance experience. 

• Previous trustee experience is desirable but not essential.

If so – we are looking for a Chair to lead Barnet's Safer Neighbourhood Board.

Role Overview: Lead Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board, ensuring effective operation in line with MOPAC requirements. Manage all aspects of Board meetings and foster a collaborative environment.

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week on average

A Safer Neighbourhood Board is established in every borough giving local Londoners and victims a greater voice.

Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board entails a team of volunteers and local agencies who will work together to advise the Borough Commander.

The Board consists of a wide range of individuals representing Barnet’s diverse communities alongside the statutory positions defined in the MOPAC Guidance[1], involving people of all ages and from all sections of the community. This includes those who may not have been actively involved before, who may be vulnerable or who have been a victim of crime.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. • Working with staff and volunteers to develop and monitor services or activities that meet the needs of the MS community 
• Ensuring group compliance with MS Society policies and practices 
• Leading the group to welcome all of the MS community Recruiting and supporting volunteers 
• Identifying group recruitment needs and advertising vacancies
• Shortlisting and interviewing applicants 
• Welcoming new volunteers and introducing them to the group. 
• Coordinating the ongoing support of group volunteers 
• Responding to any concerns with volunteers at the earliest opportunity and liaising with staff

What does it look like to Chair a charity at a pivotal moment of change?

Voluntary Action North Somerset (VANS) is an established infrastructure charity supporting, connecting and championing voluntary and community organisations across North Somerset and beyond.

With a strong local reputation and a clear ambition for the future, VANS plays a vital role in strengthening communities by bringing organisations together, amplifying collective voice, and enabling others to deliver impact.

Now, at an important point in its development, the organisation is focused on building on its strengths, refining how it works, and positioning itself to be futureproof. We’re looking for a new Chair to lead the charity into its next phase.

Location: Based in North Somerset working across the South West and beyond
Remuneration: Voluntary, with expenses covered

Time commitment:Governance commitment supported by a Vice-Chair. Currently, 4 Board meetings and 2 Development days per annum, 3-4 Governance group meetings, regular meetings with the CEO, as well as ad-hoc meetings, preparation and urgent matters arising.

As a Regional Communications Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role helping local volunteer groups connect with and engage with MS communities. Working with volunteers across the region, you will support activities such as producing newsletters, responding to information enquiries, or developing engaging content for regional social media.

Most importantly you’ll be helping us engage with lots of people and get the word out to people with MS about support to help them live their lives to the full.

This role is suitable for role sharing.  It would be most suitable for those based in Lincolnshire.

Age UK Hythe, Lyminge & Ashford is looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to help run our café on Saturdays and/or Sundays from 9.45am to 2.00pm.

As a Trustee, you will:

• Help shape ECI’s strategic direction and priorities
• Contribute to the governance and long-term development of the charity
• Ensure ECI meets legal, regulatory and financial responsibilities
• Champion ECI’s work and its impact in the community

The Board meets every two months, in person and online (usually weekday evenings). Between meetings, you may be asked to support areas linked to your skills or interests.
