Community and events team administrator volunteer roles

Hopian is a local charity providing domestic abuse and sexual exploitation support and refuge accommodation services. Our mission is to support and promote the right to have healthy, safe relationships, free of violence, abuse and sexual exploitation for all in society, helping individuals to overcome trauma in order to thrive and grow.

Role purpose

As a Fundraising Volunteer, you will be part of our Fundraising Team, supporting and helping to grow our fundraising activities. Your contribution will play a vital role in raising essential funds through a range of events and community initiatives, enabling us to continue our important work.

Tasks and Activities

No two days at Hopian are the same, and activities will vary depending on need. You will be guided by the team on where your support is most valuable. Tasks may include:

• Supporting fundraising activities and identifying new fundraising opportunities
• Promoting local fundraising events through bucket collections and in‑store collections
• Assisting with the planning, organisation, and delivery of fundraising events
• Attending events and providing support on event days
• Promoting fundraising campaigns and initiatives within the local community
• Talking to members of the public and potential donors to raise awareness of Hopian
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with local businesses and supporters
• Undertaking administrative tasks to support fundraising activity and ensure accurate records are maintained

By joining our team, you will become part of a group of valued volunteers who we can call upon to support events, helping to ensure they are enjoyable and successful for everyone involved.

Location & Times

This role is based at Hopian, High Street, Rotherham, although you will also be required to attend other local venues to support fundraising activities and events.

We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week, with additional ad hoc support on event days where possible. Times are flexible and can be arranged to suit your availability.

 Important Information

All volunteers are required to attend an induction training session. All training is funded, and refreshments will be provided.

Due to the nature of our work supporting people at risk, all volunteers must undergo a DBS check, provide references, and complete additional risk assessments where required.

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Hidayah is a volunteer-led organisation supporting LGBTQ+ Muslims through community support, advocacy, education, and wellbeing initiatives. This role requires a minimum commitment of 4–5 hours per week, with additional time required during busy periods or organisational activities.

Purpose of the Role

The National Outreach Officer Trustee leads on developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, community organisations, and outreach partners. The role supports Hidayah’s national growth and helps ensure LGBTQ+ Muslims can access inclusive support, representation, and community connections.

Core Responsibilities

• Act as a key point of contact between Hidayah and external organisations, community groups, and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with LGBTQ+ organisations, faith groups, educational institutions, and community networks.
• Promote Hidayah’s events, campaigns, and services across relevant communities and platforms.
• Lead outreach initiatives to engage under-represented LGBTQ+ Muslim communities, including trans and intersex individuals.
• Develop, coordinate, and support a national network of outreach volunteers and representatives.
• Work collaboratively with external organisations to provide signposting and access to wellbeing, legal, financial, and community support services.
• Represent Hidayah at events, workshops, panels, and educational opportunities where appropriate.
• Encourage inclusive dialogue, partnership working, and stronger engagement across LGBTQ+ and faith communities.
• Support the growth, visibility, and positive representation of Hidayah nationally.

Trustee Responsibilities

• Attend Trustee Board meetings and provide regular updates and reports.
• Support Hidayah events, planning meetings, and fundraising activities.
• Engage with internal communications and shared systems (e.g., Discord and Google Drive).
• Respond to emails and communications promptly.
• Contribute to the Annual Report.
• Uphold Hidayah’s mission, values, and code of conduct.
• Serve until the next AGM (subject to a 6-month probation period).

This role is hybrid based in Birmingham Third Space (687 Stratford Road, B11 4DX)

Volunteers are an integral part of Human Appeal’s success. They are the ones that create real change for those most in need. This is your chance to meet new people, gain new skills and experience and have fun whilst being part of a great cause.​ We are looking for a engagement intern to assist the fundraising and engagement team in developing events, project management and admin support..

Main tasks:

• Administrative tasks such as collating data, contacting signups for pledges, various challenges, deployments and events. 
• Assist with administrational tasks relating to fundraising 
• Create content for social media
• Contact guests who have booked for events
• Research venues, catering and other fundraising related tasks for upcoming events 
• May be asked to go to occasional events dependent on location ​
