As a Grants and Funding Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting our work. You will:
- Identify and apply for funding opportunities through compelling proposals
- Craft engaging campaigns to attract donors and increase awareness
- Develop clear and impactful communication strategies to share our mission and successes with stakeholders, partners, and the public
You'll collaborate closely with the admin team, a small group of volunteers who work behind the scenes to enable our success with our project goals. You'll also liaise with our Project Director to align your work with the trust's aims and objectives.
This role is adaptable to your skills and interests. Whether your expertise lies in campaign writing, digital communications, or event-based fundraising, we’ll work with you to tailor the responsibilities and focus areas to make the most of your time and talents.

Skills and Experience (any of these):
- Grant Writing: Proven ability to identify funding opportunities and write compelling grant applications that secure essential resources.
- Fundraising Expertise: Experience in planning, managing, or supporting successful fundraising campaigns. This could include individual giving, events, or digital campaigns.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to create impactful messaging across multiple platforms, such as social media, press releases, or donor communications.
- Digital Marketing and Social Media: Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including using social media for engagement and online fundraising.
- Relationship Building: Experience in building and maintaining relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, or community groups.
- Project Management: The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.

Role Description
This role sits within our Men’s Minds project, based in Hounslow. The aim of the service is to improve men’s mental health outcomes by developing a mental health network supported and directed by the voices of its members.
This will be achieved through three service strands: 1) Peer support network, 2) Psychoeducation workshops, addressing common needs of men’s mental health 3) Outreach support to raise awareness of men’s mental health and promote this service.
The role of the Outreach Volunteer will be to support the Project Coordinator with engagement activities with the local community, increase awareness of our activities with local groups and to encourage new participants to attend. We would expect you physically attend community events to promote our groups and encourage new participants to join.
We are looking for someone who
- Someone who identifies as male
- Has lived experience of mental health challenges
- Are a non-judgmental and friendly individual
- To be able to provide a welcoming, authentic, and positive experience for all, being inclusive and embracing diversity
- To feel comfortable engaging with people with mental health challenges / difficult life experiences, by validating strengths and experiences and using empowering language to overcome negative self-talk
- Are empathic and understands the stigma / social bias's surrounding mental health
- Are willing to tap into their lived experiences and use their stories to inspire hope in others when appropriate
Time commitment and expenses
- Flexible hours between Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays.
- We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role.

We’re looking for friendly and welcoming volunteers to join us, who are enthusiastic and excited to help our clients and supporters. Whether you’re a confident communicator who wants to engage with your local community or a reliable and honest volunteer looking to help us sort our donations, we’d love to have you on board as a Donation Support Volunteer!
Donation Support Volunteers will volunteer within the BCWA Fundraising Team, assisting with their day-to-day activity, whether that’s helping sort our valuable donations, tidying and keeping our donation cupboards clean, supporting the team with tasks or helping with collections in the community. Fundraising at BCWA can be a busy, high-pressure environment – our volunteers are integral at our busiest times of the year to ensure our clients and services get the support they need.
Volunteering with our Fundraising Team might look like:
- Supporting with processing donations – including moving and handling and carrying a variety of items.
- Helping keep our storage areas for donations clean and tidy.
- Getting involved with your local community and coming up with creative new ideas for fundraising drives.
- Assisting with collections if you are comfortable and have a valid UK Driving License.
- Being an advocate for BCWA!
To keep everyone informed, supported, and working towards shared goals, all fundraising volunteers are invited to join our quarterly team meeting. These sessions will:
- Share upcoming events and new fundraising opportunities
- Give updates on current projects and campaign progress
- Offer a clear focus for the months ahead
- Provide space for volunteers to share ideas, feedback, and experiences
- Strengthen team connection and celebrate achievements
You’ll always know what we’re aiming for and how your contribution fits into the bigger picture.

Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The post holder must be female.

If offered a volunteer role, we will seek 2 references. Ideally, one of these should be your current or last employer, however we understand this isn’t always possible. We ask that one of your referees has known you at least a year.
Examples of references could include:
- a professional from your centre of study, for instance a teacher, lecturer or headteacher
- GP or health visitor
- a character reference from a person who knows you (so familial relations or partners)
- a civil servant from a government agency
- a bank manager
