Purpose of the Voluntary role:
Evergreen purpose is to promote healthy ageing and positive attitudes towards older people; seeking relevant ways to honour old age and if needed, to serve through Advocacy, Friendship and practical support. Our vision is for Stamford, the Deepings, Bourne and the surrounding villages to be seen as a great place to grow old. Evergreen is very excited to be launching at the beginning of October a new group FAB Fitness (Flexibility Aerobics Balance) aimed at 55+ who would like to begin exercising regularly. As well as the fitness class there will be an opportunity for attendees to socialise and have refreshments at the end of the class. The class will be led by a trained member of Evergreen staff. This is an exciting opportunity for the Volunteer – Fitness Class Assistant to learn new skills and help older people on their fitness journey and have fun too!

Evergreen Induction Training (half day Saturday)
Mandatory Online Safeguarding training
First Aid training
Introduction training sessions to Fitness Class Assistant
Invitation to attend relevant training courses as and when they are arranged
On going support from Volunteer Services Manager
Please note that Evergreen only progress applications for volunteering from those who are within safe and easy commute of Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping.

Activities will include
Attending and assisting with the logistics of events; this can include setting up, clearing down, selling raffle tickets and refreshments, directing traffic and helping the people we support enjoy the atmosphere of the day
Helping to arrange and attend; friendship groups, coffee catch ups, creative craft sessions and much more
Offering ideas for fundraising or fun things to do!
Liaising with Dimensions Community Connections Officer
Being there for company, friendship and fun to the people we support
You will have the flexibity to choose activities that are of most interest to you.

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.

Do you enjoy socialising and meeting new people?
We are looking for friendly volunteers who love a dance and would like to join us as at Friendship Disco on the second Saturday of the month.
Activities will include:
Supporting the Disco at the following times:
Set up between 16:00-17:00 (Help with the music equipment, tables, decorations etc)
During the disco between 17:00-20:00. (Help selling raffle tickets and refreshments, taking song requests on a phone, calling the raffle at the end). Plus joining in with dancing and helping everyone to have a great time!
Clean up between 20:00-21:00.Helping to wipe and take down tables, floors, etc).
You will have the flexibility to attend the times that are convenient to you.The Disco will take place at Marshfield Village Hall in Cardiff

Volunteer Drivers:
We are looking for regular and occasional volunteer drivers to provide safe and friendly transportation for our older members to and from our centre. A D1 License would be required for the role. We can provide additional free training through MiDAS. Each driver is accompanied with a Passenger Assistant to assist with navigation, phone calls, and assisting members.
We have two wheelchair-accessible shuttle buses which are stored on our premises. Each bus is wheelchair accessible and accommodates 8 service users, 1 passenger assistant, and 1 driver. Our service users are primarily located in Deptford, Lewisham, and Greenwich.
About Deptford Mission
Our charity is called Deptford Mission, located on 1 Creek Road, London. Our organisation operates a day centre three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) that provides social activities and community support for older persons in the community. We run a shuttle bus service that transports older persons to our centre, where they can enjoy a three-course lunch, coffee and tea service, and activities such as bingo, musical classes, chair yoga, and occasional local outings. Our day centre is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
We work with volunteers from diverse backgrounds and walks of life and can accommodate individuals with learning differences, complex histories, and support needs. We also provide lunch to our volunteers during their shifts, and we are happy to help support specific skills that they may wish to develop. Many of our volunteers have obtained experience and confidence to pursue employment in social care, health care, and higher education.

Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help cats.
