SEL Mind delivers a Peer Support Programme which consist of group activities and therapeutic groups run by Peer Support Volunteers for individuals’ with either a mental health diagnosis or service users who are impacted by mental health within the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
The purpose of the Volunteer Peer Support Group Facilitator is to provide peer support and facilitate a group with the guidance of a coordinator, whilst creating a welcoming environment and sharing their own knowledge/experience of living with mental health difficulties.

Social Group Facilitator
We’re looking for volunteers to support facilitating our social group alongside a group coordinator. Although there are activity tables, this is not an activity-led group.
The role is about being present, reading the room, and sensing where connection or support might be needed rather than following a plan. You’ll need to be comfortable with uncertainty and able to work without clear direction.
The group has been running for a long time and a key part of this role is settling into the rhythm of the group and also helping new members find their place within it. Good instincts and genuine warmth matter more here than any particular skill.
Part of your role will be to set up and pack down independently, including preparing a tea and coffee table and washing up during and after the session. Sharing a cuppa is central to what makes the group feel welcoming.
If you’re naturally at ease in social settings, happy to take initiative, and able to commit reliably for a minimum of a year this could be a great fit.
Growing Connections Group Facilitator
We’re looking for volunteers to facilitate Growing Connections, a brand-new outdoor group centred around the simple, satisfying tasks of watering, pruning and tidying pot plants, and making space for the conversation and connection that grows alongside it.
You’ll arrive early to set up, this will include readying tea and coffee, co-lead the session with another volunteer facilitator, and pack down and wash up at the end.
You’ll lead without a staff member in the room, though one will be available on site if needed, so we’re looking for people who are comfortable taking the lead.
The gardening gives the session its focus, but a space for conversation and connection is just as important. Over time we hope that members can feel a sense of ownership over the group and the space itself.
You don’t need to be an expert gardener, but you should be comfortable with basic plant care, good at putting people at ease, and able to commit reliably for a minimum of a year Training, support and supervision will be provided.
Creative Connections Group Facilitator
We’re looking for volunteers to facilitate Creative Connections, diverse creative activity group led jointly by volunteers and service users.
You’ll arrive early to set up, help plan and deliver sessions, and pack down at the end.
Central to the role is supporting members to take an active part in shaping and leading sessions themselves; helping people build confidence in themselves and their ideas, find their voice, and feel a valued part of the group.
You don’t need to be a professional artist, but you should be comfortable in a creative space, and able to follow other ideas as well as bringing your own. We ask that you are able to commit reliably for a minimum of a year.
Creative Writing Group Facilitator
We’re looking for volunteers to co-facilitate our creative writing group, working alongside a group coordinator who leads the sessions.
You’ll arrive early to set up, support the coordinator with planning sessions and the delivery of the sessions, alongside packing down at the end.
Your role is to support the coordinator and be present for members, noticing who might need encouragement, who needs space, and helping people feel comfortable enough to share. Creative writing can at times be reflective and vulnerable, and a sensitivity to these feelings is as important as any writing experience.
You don’t need to be an experienced writer, but you should be comfortable in a creative setting, skilled at helping others find their voice, and able to commit reliably for a minimum of a year.
The Nook, Greenwich Young Persons Group Facilitator

The Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK (ACCT UK) is a 96-year-old national youth charity dedicated to improving the life chances of young people and is the official charity supporting the national youth movement known as the Army Cadet Force (ACF). ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance specialist trustee will be an important member of ACCT UK’s Board. You would be part of our team of trustees overseeing the strategic direction of ACCT UK to ensure that it achieves its charitable objects with the particular role of monitoring its financial management. Our charity is financially secure and stable, nevertheless we are looking for an additional trustee with finance experience to work in partnership with the charity’s Treasurer (Chair of the Finance and General Purposes Committee) in monitoring the work of the Charity’s finance team, thus providing fellow board trustees with financial insight and reassurance. We would say it, wouldn’t we (!), but we think you would really enjoy being a trustee and also find it hugely satisfying and rewarding. A fuller description of the role is at Annex A.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking a volunteer with a strong professional track record in finance or accountancy, who can provide senior level oversight on our Finance and General Purposes Committee. You will have an understanding of best practice in financial
reporting, controls and governance. A background in charity finance is not essential but would be advantageous. We are seeking a Trustee with sound judgement, the highest professional standards and integrity and strong communication skills who would enjoy contributing to the overall governance of the charity. This role would suit someone with a finance background looking for their first trustee position or who has been a Treasurer for a smaller charity and is not looking for a larger Treasurer role at this time.
TENURE
Once elected as a trustee, you will be asked to serve for a three-year term, following which by mutual agreement you could be elected for a further three-year term.
On election you will have a probationary period of 3 to 4 months depending on your joining date and dates of board meetings and committee group meetings. In the probationary period you should attend one board meeting and at least two committee meetings as a trustee. This will give you an insight into the work done by trustees and the commitment required to be a trustee and will allow both the board and you to assess whether this role is suitable for you. You will have full trustee voting rights during the probationary period.

AYDA needs help to support the development of young people from all backgrounds, particularly women and girls, through education, training and family programmes.
As a small volunteer-run charity, AYDA does not have the expertise to create an impactful social media presence. This is especially the case with LinkedIn which we believe to be pivotal in identifying and engaging with potential partners across the UK. This would enable our programmes to be rolled out more widely and so gain more traction.
Most urgently we need someone to work directly with the Chair, Lucy Njomo, to create a powerful profile for the charity. LinkedIn does offer support to "not for profit" organisations, but we have neither the knowledge nor the capabilities within the board of trustees to take advantage of this. We are seeking a confident professional who can take on the challenge of projecting AYDA and its critical work much more effectively to like-minded groups who could and should be working with us to tackle VAWG in society.
We also know that networking via LinkedIn will be fundamental in fuelling a separate initiative to build youth education and vocational training centre in Cameroon. Land and official permission have already been acquired so now we need to build the consortium to deliver this critical initiative.
The desired individual should therefore be able to build a powerful profile and the network visibility we need to bring these vital initiatives into the spotlight to attract both funding and delivery partners.
What are we looking for?
The ideal person to help us will be very comfortable in the social media world, particularly the use of LinkedIn to build strong B2B networks and relationships. Ideally they would also have some third sector experience in creating powerful charity profiles. Since this is an unpaid role, it is likely that the individual would have a personal passion for combatting VAWG in all sections of UK society and/or creating youth development opportunities in one of the poorest countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
Understanding of the capabilities of LinkedIn as a platform in general and its support structure for charitable organisations is critical.
What difference will you make?
We accept that we do not have the ability to maximise the potential offered by platforms such as LinkedIn. So, although we welcome advice, we urgently need someone to take on the challenge of turning that into positive actions to empower both the UK VAWG and Cameroon youth development initiatives.

The Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA) is an African-led and inspired charity, established in 1989. St Basils is looking for a new Non-Exec Director / Trustee to join our Board as the Designated Safeguarding Board Member.
About Us
St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to enable them to find and keep a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities and ultimately prevent homelessness.
We help just over 4,000 young people each year across the West Midlands, with services in Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Our services range from providing supported accommodation to outreach, advice, support, employability and engagement services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, confidence and employment and move on. Time Commitment
You will need to be able to attend the majority of Board and Committee meetings, one of each is held each quarter (8 meetings total per year). Each meeting will last around 2 hours and will normally be held late afternoon/early evening (usually 4pm – 6pm). Board meetings are held in person at St Basils’ Head Office in Birmingham, and Committee meetings are held virtually via Microsoft Teams. The dates for meetings are set by calendar year, towards the end of the previous year.
Meeting papers will be shared via an online portal one week in advance of the meeting to allow for sufficient preparation time.
A Board away day is held each year, usually October, and every other year this includes an overnight stay. This will be fully paid for by St Basils.
We encourage Board members to visit our accommodation services to deepen understanding of our work and support effective governance and decision-making. We would like all Board members to make 2 visits a year if possible.
All travel expenses incurred in attending Board meetings / conducting site visits will be reimbursed by St Basils.

Where Next is a charity based in Redditch, Worcestershire and Studley, Warwickshire providing support to adults with learning disabilities. Founded over 40 years ago by caring parents it has grown from strengthen to strengthen and now provides day care for 150 clients. The care and support is centred around horticultural and social activities but it also covers many other activities for the clients ensuring that is a varied and engaging programme of activities, nurturing the potential of everyone who attends Where Next
The charity is led by a Chief Executive and a passionate and experienced Board consisting of an excellent Senior Management team and Trustees. There are 20 staff in total
The charity has just commenced a developmental journey which will be looking at redesigning the facilities and services ensuring that the charity continues to be relevant going forward.

What we are looking for.
The Board are looking to strengthen existing skills and knowledge that currently exists and would like to appointment Trustees with any of the following skills and experiences.
Ø Parent/ carer of an individual with Learning and Disabilities - living or professional experience – bringing day to day experiences to ensure that the Charities strategy is appropriate from a user’s perspective
Ø Health and safety contract management – providing expertise in all aspects of safety aspect
Ø Fund raising and PR/marketing including social media - Bringing innovative ideas to expand our reach and connect more people with our cause.
Ø Project management – sharing skills to aid strategy of charities developments
Ø Business planning and/or Business Case development -providing skills for the creation of business cases
Ø Horticultural management – Bringing leadership to support the activities of the charity
Ø Education /Training/ skills and personal development - offering insights to help improve and develop our Board and workforce

Would you like to help East Ayrshire Women’s Aid improve the lives of women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse in East Ayrshire? Do you have a willingness to learn, share your skills and work as part of a team? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you might be interested in becoming a Director of East Ayrshire Women’s Aid.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team delivering vital support to vulnerable women, children and young people in East Ayrshire. You do not need to know everything there is to know about domestic abuse, but they do need to know that you are reliable and committed to our principles and values.
The position is voluntary, but East Ayrshire Women’s Aid will provide you with training and support and pay your expenses. The Board meets at least six times a year, usually on Saturday mornings.

Our trustees and non-executive directors play a vital role in making sure that the group achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that there is a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.
Just as importantly, they support and challenge the CEO and executive team in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs, to enable Thrive Social Housing and Emerging Futures CIC to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.
The Board operates under the leadership and guidance of the chair and works in partnership with the chief executive officer and the executive team.
Board members are expected to always act in the best interests of the organisation and its stakeholders, and to use their background knowledge and skills to work with the chair and other board members to ensure that the Board, supported by its committees, carries out its responsibilities effectively and lead from the top in demonstrating our culture, values and behaviours.
Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.
Emerging Futures works across the country with people affected by homelessness, drug and alcohol problems and physical and mental health needs.
