About The Role

We’re looking for full stack developers to help us create a ground-breaking web app that promotes sustainable living and climate action.

Secretary of Trustees

The Role

We are seeking a new Secretary of Trustees to support the governance and administration of the charity. This is a vital role that ensures the smooth running of trustee meetings and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

The Secretary will work closely with the Chair, Treasurer, and other trustees to maintain accurate records and facilitate effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure the charity complies with statutory and regulatory requirements, including filing with the Charity Commission.
• Maintain up-to-date records of trustee appointments and declarations of interest.

Meeting Administration

• Organise and schedule trustee meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
• Prepare and circulate agendas, minutes, and supporting documents.
• Record accurate minutes and actions from meetings.

Communication & Coordination

• Act as the main point of contact for trustee communications.
• Support the coordination of trustee activities and follow-up on agreed actions.
• Liaise with external stakeholders as needed (e.g. Charity Commission, VHL Alliance).

Documentation & Record-Keeping

• Maintain the charity’s governing documents and policies.
• Ensure secure and accessible storage of key documents and records.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Is detail-oriented and reliable.
• Communicates clearly and professionally.
• Has experience of minute-taking and document management (not necessarily in a charity setting).
• Is committed to the values and mission of VHL UK/Ireland.

About this key role

As a Peer Volunteer, you will increase client engagement with drug and alcohol treatment services by providing vital peer-led support and building trust and motivation among a client group that has been historically disengaged/not offered support previously.  You will provide holistic, short-term intervention to bridge the gap between referral and full treatment engagement, capture client experiences and barriers to improve service design and accessibility and develop a strong service user voice to inform future service improvements.

Areas of support from Peer Volunteers may also include initial engagement and motivation such as welcome calls, check-ins, peer-led conversations and motivational chats over coffee.  You may also offer practical support such as appointment reminders, transport assistance and paperwork support, plus help to build positive routines such as activity-based engagement and supporting small lifestyle changes, including meal planning, budgeting, and time management.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system or lived experience of the issues facing this client group (i.e. experience of substance misuse and recovery)
• Proven experience of working in a high intensity environment, being self-motivating, with an ability to effectively manage your own wellbeing
• Knowledge of the issues facing those arrested for potential criminal offences
• Knowledge of, and commitment to, safeguarding practices and policies
• The ability to use monitoring systems to record all aspects of the work
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.

The Vice-Chair supports the Area Chair in the leadership of Ramblers' activities in East and West Sussex including the provision through the Groups in the Area of organised walks, helping to ensure the Groups are run well, follow good practice and join in national/Area initiatives, the protection of rights of way, and and the preservation and conservation of, the countryside, includung representing the Area to external stakeholders.

The Vice-Chair deputises for the Area Chair, as required, at meetings of the Area leadership teams (Area Council and Area Executive Committee), represents the Area at meetings of the Ramblers' South East Regional Cluster and, in agreement with the Area Chair, leads specific projects in which the Area is engaged, making sure in all cases that Ramblers' policies and procedures are followed with a view to ensuring that the Area, its members and volunteers are kept safe and legally compliant.

The Vice-Chair supports the Chair in managing the Area's working relationship with local authorities, organisations and politicians.

The Vice-Chair assists the Chair by making sure that the Area follows all of the required governance, including AGMs and attendance at Ramblers' General Council Meetings.

The role holderwill work closely with the Chair and other members of the Area Executive Committee and Area Council, and where necessary seek advice and guidance from Ramblers' central office.

You will need to be a member of the Ramblers and live in East or West Sussex to hold the role.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

About Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust:

Since 1988, Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust (PKHT) has worked collaboratively to preserve, enhance, and increase understanding of the historic environment of the area, through a wide remit encompassing historic building conservation and archaeology. 

PKHT achieved their objectives through the delivery of projects, the provision of grants, information, and advice, and through a programme of outreach and training activities. The Organisations current key projects include the transformative work of the Perth City Heritage Fund, and an exciting new programme of community archaeology which will aim to engage communities across all of Perth and Kinross. Their aims are to maintain and enhance sense of place; provide a learning resource for local communities; and to build sustainable economic development through improvements and events for both local residents and visitors. 

Perth and Kinross has a rich physical heritage of archaeological sites and historic buildings and PKHT is committed to delivering projects and activities that increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the historic environment for everyone. Supported by a range of funders, the outreach and learning activities are often delivered through funded projects such as the King’s Seat Hillfort Archaeology Project, while They also co-ordinate the Doors Open Days programme for the area.

Trustee Details:

Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is currently seeking new trustees for their board and, to sustain their invaluable work, are inviting new board members, who have the right skills, experience, and time to take on the role effectively and impactfully, as well as sharing an affinity with their aspirations to safeguard local heritage and promote it to a wider audience.

The trust are keen to hear from people who have skills in buildings conservation, marketing and social media, legal and finance, IT and General Fundraising but would welcome expressions of interest from others who share a passion for what the area has to offer - and what is still to be uncovered. People who live further afield from the area are also encouraged to apply, especially if they bring similar experiences from further afield. The Trust is also keen to diversify its board and welcomes applications from younger candidates from a range of backgrounds.

In addition, candidates who are willing to progress to take on the Chair role are encouraged to apply. The current Chair has decided that following several years’ service it is now time to step back from this role. The PKHT board are keen to hear from any candidate who feels they have the skills and experience, and time available for the Chair role.
