Fashion Hub Volunteer 

Could you support sustainable fashion and help raise funds to end unfit housing and homelessness? 

Will you become part of our Sunderland Warehouse team and make a meaningful difference?

Join our warehouse team and play a hands-on role in giving quality clothing a second life. You’ll help sort and prepare donations from well-known retail brands, supporting sustainable fashion while raising vital funds to tackle unfit housing and homelessness. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in garment handling and warehouse operations, perfect for anyone interested in fashion, retail, or behind-the-scenes logistics. 

We can’t make the most of donated clothing without people to help us sort and prepare it with care. If you’d like to be part of that, we’d love to hear from you

Suggested contribution: It’s up to you! Volunteers can support for a few hours a day, or a few days a week.

Shop volunteering helps fight the housing emergency by raising vital funds that enable Shelter to provide advice and support for people who are experiencing bad housing and homelessness, as well as powering us to campaign for change.

Information about the role

As our Lived Experience Coordination Volunteer, you will help run our lived experience groups, support the everyday admin that keeps our programmes going, and help communicate with participants in a genuine, informed way. This is a flexible, varied role shaped around your strengths and availability.

Location: Hub/community/home based location, London.

Suggested contribution: Approximately 7 - 14 hours per month, flexible and to be agreed together

Find out why learners have missed classes and encourage them to return

Who this role is good for

Time commitment and flexibility

We understand that volunteers have their own work, study, family and other commitments. We aim to keep these roles flexible. We are ideally looking for around 4–8 hours of volunteering per week, depending on the role and your availability. However, we genuinely value any contribution: even a few hours a week can make a meaningful difference to our project and our learners.

Role Summary 

Campus coordinators are responsible for establishing partnerships with University Muslim Student Associations (MSAs) and Islamic Societies (ISocs), and maintaining positive relationships with these sites. 

Key tasks 

• Actively establish and maintain positive relationships with the MSA/ISoc committees and Student Ambassadors to ensure an exceptional onsite experience for students and promote retention of sites 

• Be responsible for overseeing all onsite logistics through liaison with the Student Ambassador to ensure that onsite logistics including advertising of the class and other required tasks are taken care of by the MSA/ISoc 

• Be the point of contact for ISocs: answer questions from the MSA/ ISoc committees and Student Ambassadors to the best of your ability and engage them on a 1-1 basis, listen to their needs and concerns and addressing these accordingly 

• Collect ideas and best-practices from how different MSAs/ISocs are delivering their class 

• Participate in onboarding current and new sites prior to the start of the academic year 

• Be the point of contact internally for any queries or updates related to assigned MSAs/ISocs 

What we’re looking for 

• An understanding of the Muslim university scene and how university MSAs/ISocs operate. 

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability and keenness to make and maintain genuine connections with people. 

• Ability to travel regionally for face-to-face meetings with MSA/ISoc committees, at least once per semester.

The Role: Gala Table Host and Support

• Table Hosting: Act as the main charity point-of-contact for a designated table of 10 guests.

• Studied or studying a degree in a relevant field 

• Research experience

1. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an introductory call with our Founder, Mark Johnson MBE, who will go into more detail on our mission and what we require from interns. This will also be your chance to ask any questions 

1. If you are still interested, you will go through our online onboarding process which will prepare you to get started with us! 

Logistics 

• Length of internship: A minimum of 3 months commitment 

• Days per week: We can work around your schedule, but require minimum 2 days per week 

• Weekly meeting: Ability to join a check-in meeting once per week
