Description

Buses are a lifeline for blind and partially sighted people. They help people with sight loss maintain independence, stay connected with friends and family, and access work, education, healthcare, and leisure opportunities. Yet in Wales, only one in ten blind and partially sighted people can make all the journeys they need by bus.

To change this, RNIB Cymru is working with bus companies to ensure drivers understand how to support passengers with sight loss. Our Swap with Me sessions bring bus drivers and blind or partially sighted people together to share experiences and learn practical skills.

We need participants with lived experience of sight loss who use buses to attend these sessions in Bangor and / or Rhyl and share their insights. You’ll help drivers understand the challenges and solutions for accessible travel and take part in practical exercises where drivers experience what it’s like to travel with sight loss.

Training and support will be provided as part of RNIB’s volunteer induction process. Reasonable expenses will be available to fulfil the role.

When and where needed:
In person – Wednesday 11th March 2026 in Rhyl, 10am – 2pm. Wednesday 18th March 2026 in Bangor, 10am – 2pm.
Sessions will be repeated every 3 months.

Cancer support charity The Mulberry Centre is looking for a experienced and enthusiastic physically fit gardener to join our small team of volunteer gardeners on Wednesday mornings. The role will help to develop and maintain our existing garden space to ensure it remains a safe, calm, sensory place for our clients to relax in.

Martlets, Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House have collection tins hosted by a wide variety of businesses across Worthing, Sussex, Brighton and Hove and surrounding areas. Our tins continue to play an important role in raising money and awareness for the hospices so that we can continue to provide specialist care.

These tins need to be collected, replaced, and returned to our fundraising offices or shops on a regular basis. With collections expected to be completed on a 6-8 week cycle.

We are looking for friendly, reliable people to help us with this important fundraising and community liaison role.

You will be the face of the Fundraising team in your locality, representing the hospices when collecting. This is a chance to involve yourself with the community by building a relationship with our collection tin hosts and keeping them up to date with any news from us.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking for a flexible volunteering role to fit around other commitments. We can discuss potential rounds based on where you live and an appropriate distance to travel.

Are you a confident driver with a desire to support a great cause behind the scenes? Join us as a Volunteer Fundraising Van Driver and play a vital role in helping our fundraising events run smoothly and successfully.

You’ll be responsible for transporting essential equipment — from banners and tables to raffle prizes and collection buckets — to and from event locations.

You’ll be working closely with our friendly fundraising team and other volunteers, helping to make sure every event is set up for success.

Our volunteers provide a friendly face and that personal touch to brighten the days for the people they drive. Our drivers can become a regular part of someone’s life and for some their journeys together may be the only chance an RNIB customer has had to get out of their home for some time.

Welcome and Reception Support Volunteer

Bilingual / Multilingual

As a Welcome and Reception support volunteer, you will be an invaluable part of the Manchester Hub team, supporting the hub to deliver vital frontline services. You'll be the first point of contact for clients and visitors, assisting the administration team with reception duties, and supporting the operation of the Shelter office in their day-to-day business 

You’ll act as the first point of contact for our clients, help to understand their needs and help them access necessary support through the duty or appointment services. Being a positive presence in hubs to ensure visitors feel comfortable and welcomed.

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference to the individuals we support. You’ll be developing your own knowledge and skills to support local people with a range of housing issues as well as providing practical support with form filling and providing a friendly, listening ear. You will gain experience of volunteering within a recognised national housing charity, while supporting your local community. 

Suggested Involvement: Approximately one day per week (can be more & can be flexible around your commitments) 

Availability: This volunteering opportunity will take place within our working hours, Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm

As a Welcome and Reception Support Volunteer, you’ll be supporting the day-to-day work of Shelter’s housing advisors as they provide advice, support and guidance to the people visiting the Manchester Hub. 

Volunteers are essential to Shelter’s mission to end housing injustice. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. The insights and life experience our volunteers bring to Shelter are valued as much as their contribution through volunteering. 

We aim to provide our volunteers with a positive experience. This is by prioritising accessibility and tailoring the support we provide to the needs of the individual. We make sure our policies and processes are equitable, which means that no-one is unfairly disadvantaged while volunteering because of their background or identity. 

Main Tasks include 

• Cover reception and greeting people who come to the office. 

• Communicating with clients via phone and email to share updates on their case and to gather information. 

• Assisting clients with form filling, paperwork and applications around housing and benefits. 

• Supporting clients with digital skills, for example navigating online systems and forms. 

• Signposting clients to relevant services and providing useful information. 

• General administrative tasks (e.g. minute-taking, photocopying, scanning, and filing). 

Skills and experience required 

• Fluent in English and one of the following languages: Urdu, Arabic, Tigrinya, Kurdish Sorani 

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand the needs of our clients 

• Interest in social welfare law, e.g. housing; welfare benefits; debt; community care 

• The ability to work as part of a team and value and communicate effectively with others

• Confident using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel and PDF documents to a good standard 

• Willingness to follow Shelter’s policies, including volunteering, health & safety, equality & diversity, confidentiality & data protection

The Chief Allied Healthcare Professional is a volunteer who will report to the Chief Commissioner and be a key part of the National Volunteer Leadership Team, as well as working alongside the Medical Director, Associate Medical Directors and other Chief Clinical Officers (Medical & Nursing).

You will provide support to the Medical Director and be an active member of the Clinical Advisory Group including regular review of the Clinical Governance Framework. You will support assurance of clinical decision-making within SJA as well as provide a clearly identified line of authority through the clinical chain for our volunteer nurses. 

As the Senior AHP within the organisation, you will support the development of the AHP cadre within the current scope of practice as well as integrating new developments safely into St John Ambulance. As the Champion for our AHPs, you will be able to establish a rapport such that our AHPs are confident they have a voice at the trustee level Clinical Committee that reports into the Executive Leadership Committee. 

As an experienced, clinically active AHP, you will be able to provide high level scrutiny of the Clinical Governance Framework and support the development of best practice. 

Above all you will be a role model for AHPs within St John Ambulance and you will promote the organisation with external partners and professional bodies.

EDINBURGH MARATHON FESTIVAL

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported. Activities include:

· Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· Planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· Keeping financial records from fundraising events

· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection

You will be supported and guided from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

· The ability to prioritise and delegate

· An appreciation of the importance of handling money and charity resources responsibly

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Key tasks

Fundraising Planning:

Proposal Development:

Budget Oversight:

• Work closely with the finance team to monitor fundraising budgets, expenditure, and financial projections.

Donor Relations:

• Support with Donor Communications in activities related to donor relationship management and stewardship.
