It’s an exciting time at Capability Scotland. There’s a lot going on and we’re looking for new Trustees to help us deliver our ambitious plans for growth and transformation.
This year is our 80th anniversary. We are so proud of everything we have achieved but we can’t rest on our laurels. There is much still to do if we are to achieve our vision of a more inclusive Scotland where everyone has the opportunity to have their voice heard, to contribute to society and to fulfil their potential.
As we look forward, we are determined that more people across Scotland can benefit from our high quality care, support and education services. Our plans for the redevelopment of our largest service on a brand new site in Perth are now advancing at pace. Our Inclusive Community Project will see us deliver exemplary care in a modern environment, shaped by innovation, technology and best practice.
Capability Scotland is also proud to operate Corseford College, the first and only college for young people with multiple and complex needs. Now in its fourth year, the achievements of our students are a powerful testament to the success of this pioneering model.
These are just two examples of what we’re doing. There is much more going on right now and we are determined to drive forward with our future plans.
To help us continue to be successful, we are looking to appoint new Trustees to complement the skills of our existing Board, to drive change and to help shape our strategic direction. The Board’s purpose is also to ensure the highest standards of governance and to provide oversight, scrutiny and constructive support to senior management.
We have some Board vacancies right now and we are looking for a diverse range of people with an interest in what we are trying to achieve and who want to be part of a values-led charity.
We would love to see applications from people with lived experience of disability. We would also welcome applications from candidates with expertise in social care/social work, fundraising, marketing, education and technology as we explore the use of assistive technology and AI in the delivery of person-centred care.

We are seeking organised, reliable, and driven volunteers to support with our person-centred community mental health services. Volunteers will support group activities and sessions, and provide 1-1 support to community members.
Through free, accessible, and local activities, courses, and groups, we support members in building confidence, re-connecting with their communities, and progressing along their own path to wellbeing and recovery. Volunteers are vital to ensuring this support is personal, meaningful, and consistent.
Community Support
The Community Support Volunteer role is part of Mind in Camden’s wider group services, including the Healthy Minds Community Programme and Phoenix Recovery Service. These services work with adults (18+) living in Camden who may be experiencing mental health challenges, isolation, or social exclusion.
Healthy Minds is a community programme of free activities such as creative workshops, gentle exercise, walks, cultural trips, and social drop-ins. The programme aims to tackle social isolation by allowing members to build confidence and community through connection and shared interest.
Phoenix Recovery Service is a day service supporting members’ mental health recovery who may have complex or long-term challenges. The service is delivered in partnership with Camden Council and runs on a Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at Mind in Camden. This is a relaxed social space where members chat, have lunch, and can get 1-1 support from staff and volunteers.

As a Event Healthcare Professional volunteer, you’ll help St John Ambulance provide first aid at large and small events within the community. You’ll be part of a team of volunteers delivering help where it’s needed, dealing with everything from a sprained ankle to a cardiac arrest.
The experience you gain could lead to more advanced roles, including patient transport, cycle response, advanced first aid and emergency response. You’ll make a real difference to your community and have a huge impact on the nation’s health.
As an Event Doctor, Nurse or Paramedic, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.
Whilst many of the events we cover are at the weekends, we do also cover mid-week events.
We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. Suffolk meets in Ipswich fortnightly on a Tuesday evening, Stowmarket on a Monday evening and Bury St Edmunds on a Wednesday evening.
The type of events Suffolk volunteers have historically supported are Suffolk Show, Aldeburgh Carnival, Newmarket Racecourse, Pumpkin Patch, University of Suffolk open days along with smaller events like village fetes and galas, 5k, 10k and half marathon running events, firework displays and remembrance events. Volunteers also have the opportunity to assist with National and State events in London such as the London Marathon.

Main purpose of role:

The Role:
Are you passionate about food and want to make a meaningful difference in your community? Join us as a Cooking Volunteer at our Day Centre, where we provide support to individuals who are rough sleeping and/or with a history of homelessness.
