In this role, you will be:

• Delivering talks to groups of sighted people about your lived experience of sight loss to challenge their perceptions and behaviours. Audiences will vary but may include local businesses, community, faith and voluntary groups.

• Making links with your own existing groups and networks in your local community that may want to be involved in reducing barriers to blind and partially sighted people.
• Building relationships with people or local businesses you know.
• Taking part in and sharing information about specific campaigns and initiatives to help remove barriers to blind and partially sighted people.
• Delivering talks on behalf of RNIB’s Social Action Team.

Trustee of the Rose Road Association Charity – Voluntary Position

The Rose Road Association has been working with children, young people and their families from across Hampshire and the surrounding counties since 1952. The children who attend The Association have profound and multiple learning difficulties and physical disabilities. The charity currently employs around 200 staff and has a turnover of c£5m

The range of services provided includes activity schemes, residential short breaks, family information and advice services and community support to over 300 families in Hampshire and surrounding counties.

We are looking for people passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young disabled people – could you become part of our dedicated Trustee Team?

Commitment

6 meetings annually in addition to occasional one-off events. All of our Trustees hold a lead role for a certain aspect of the organisation, this could include occasional additional meetings with Officers.

Purpose

Charity Trustees hold the responsibility for the strategic governance of the charity.  This includes, but is not restricted to:

· Safeguarding of service users and staff

· Oversight of financial planning and management

Connection Support provides support to vulnerable adults, including people experiencing homelessness, mental health difficulties and substance misuse. Volunteers play a key role in helping us provide and improve our services.

We are looking for an Administrative Volunteer to join our office at Challenge House in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, for a few hours each week.

The main purpose of this role is to make telephone calls to our service users to ask about their experience of our service, what is working well and what we could improve. The feedback will help Connection Support understand the experiences of the people we support and identify opportunities to improve the way our services are delivered.

About the Role

The Administrative & Service User Feedback Volunteer will make agreed telephone calls to current or former service users, using a simple set of questions. The calls will provide an opportunity for service users to share their views about the support they have received and make suggestions for improvement.

The role is not about assessing a client's mental health, providing counselling or resolving complaints. Volunteers will listen, record feedback accurately and pass any concerns to the appropriate member of the Connection Support team.

Key responsibilities

Your role will include, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

· Attend the Connection Support office at Challenge House, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, for 1-2 hours per week

· Make telephone calls to service users using contact information and calling guidance provided by Connection Support.

· Ask approximately 5–10 short questions about the service user's experience of Connection Support.

· Give service users an opportunity to provide additional comments or suggestions if they wish.

· Listen carefully and respectfully without judging, interrupting or making assumptions.

· Record responses accurately and clearly using the agreed recording system or feedback form.

· Maintain confidentiality and protect service user information at all times.

· Recognise when a conversation needs to be referred to a member of staff, rather than attempting to deal with the matter yourself.

· Report complaints, safeguarding concerns, distress or other issues promptly to the designated Connection Support staff member.

· Keep accurate records of calls made, including where a service user could not be contacted, in line with guidance.

Full training will be provided

You do not need previous experience of working in an office, telephone interviewing or support services. Full training and guidance will be provided before you begin making calls.

Kidney Care UK, the UK’s leading kidney patient support charity is looking to recruit a number of exceptional individuals to join our committed Board as Trustees. To maintain a good skills balance within the Board, we would particularly welcome applications from a range of interested applicants with legal, IT, finance and fundraising expertise, as well as from senior clinicians including nurses and other allied health professionals. Lived experience of kidney disease would be advantageous but not essential.

Kidney Care UK, provides practical, financial and emotional support for kidney patients and their families, and works in partnership with health professionals and organisations to improve care and quality of life for patients. With over 200 patients supported every week and around £3m invested in our patient support work every year, we are passionately committed to improving the lives of everyone affected by the disease and actively campaign to improve care services.

Trustees are expected to attend four Board meetings a year, held in London and at our office headquarters in Alton, Hampshire, and most Trustees choose to sit on one of our four Committees.

The appointment is for an initial term of three years, with an option to serve up to nine years in total.

Activities will include: 

Supporting the Disco at the following times: 

• Set up between 16:00-17:00 (Help with the music equipment, tables, decorations etc) 

• During the disco between 17:00-20:00. (Help selling raffle tickets and refreshments, taking song requests on a phone, calling the raffle at the end). Plus joining in with dancing and helping everyone to have a great time! 

• Clean up between 20:00-21:00.Helping to wipe and take down tables, floors, etc). 

 
You will have the flexibility to attend the times that are convenient to you.The Disco will take place at Marshfield Village Hall in Cardiff

We are looking for a Community Connector (Volunteer) to help bring people together, raise awareness, and help grow local autism support across Wales. This role will help strengthen existing branches and support the development of new groups where there is currently no provision.

• Deliver “Understanding Autism” talks PowerPoint presentations to community organisations, local services, schools ,and local businesses.
• Share clear, accessible information about autism and the work of the National Autistic Society
• Help communities understand how they can better support autistic people and their families

Stepping Stones Learning and Leisure is a small, friendly charity based in Southwark, providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Music Class Volunteer to support our weekly Tuesday sessions (10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm), held at St Faith’s Community Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations). We do not require applicants to be able to volunteer in both sessions, but the option is there.

You’ll help our tutor support a group of adults with learning disabilities to explore a range of instruments. In this class you will play an important part in fostering a creative and relaxed environment so our learners can express themselves and enjoy the benefits of music.

You will volunteer within WECIL’s befriending service for disabled children/young people and their families. This involves:

• Spending time regularly with a disabled child or young person in their home or their local community.
• You will not be asked to administer medication or deliver personal care in this role.

Who am I responsible for?

• You are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the child or young person you are linked with.
• All links are risk-assessed and carefully monitored by your Co-ordinator.

Who am I responsible to?

The parent/carer.

• You must ensure that the parent / carer’s reasonable instructions and guidance regarding the welfare of their child are adhered to and that clear communication is maintained.
• Feedback must be given to the parent/carer following a visit.

• You must respond promptly to any contact from your co-ordinator.
• You are required to report monthly on any time spent with the child you are linked with, any activities undertaken, and to take part in the annual review.

How often will I be needed?

• We typically ask for volunteers to commit to 2-4 hours a week
• The days / times are agreed between the volunteer and the family.
• We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months to ensure the child and their family are able to benefit fully from the relationship.

We would like you to have some experience in Horticulture/gardening to help us develop and grown our garden.

• Help organise horticulture sessions with assistance from our support workers to provide guidance and advice for people that attend the centres and live in our residential houses.
• Provide advice for staff and students on aspects of Horticulture including what equipment to use to be most effective.
• Helping with the planning of the activities
• Be proactive and encouraging with people at the session to encourage them to develop new skills
• You will need to provide 2 references and a DBS for this role
