Join Options 4 Change (O4C) as a Volunteer Caseworker and play a vital role in supporting children, young people and families facing a range of challenges. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience while making a genuine difference to the lives of people who need it most.
As a Volunteer Caseworker, you will work alongside our experienced team to provide practical and emotional support to families, helping them access services, navigate challenges and work towards positive outcomes. You may assist with completing referrals and applications, signposting to external agencies, maintaining accurate records and supporting the delivery of community programmes.
We are looking for compassionate, reliable and organised individuals with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping others. Previous experience in social care, education, youth work or community support is welcomed but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.
This role is ideal for anyone looking to gain experience within the charity sector, family support, social work, youth services or community development. In return, you'll receive supervision, training, references (subject to satisfactory volunteering), and the opportunity to be part of a passionate team working to improve outcomes for children and families across Lambeth.
Person Specification:
● Knowledge or understanding of Child in Need policies, safeguarding and family welfare procedures.
● An understanding of issues affecting vulnerable families, including homelessness, poverty, domestic abuse and No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).

● Good organisational and administrative skills, including experience using Microsoft Office.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
● An understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding responsibilities.
● Ability to use initiative, work independently and manage tasks effectively.
● Ability to work collaboratively with caseworkers, colleagues and external agencies, including partner organisations and statutory services.
● A genuine interest in supporting children, young people and families and promoting equality and social inclusion.
