Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

ORCD UK is the British branch of ORCD Global, Afghanistan’s most established local humanitarian organisation. We have delivered over $100M+ in aid, hold UN ECOSOC status, and partner directly with UNICEF, WFP, and the WHO.

As we build our UK presence from scratch, we are looking for a passionate writer to help give our branch its voice. This is a brilliant opportunity to build a career-defining portfolio by creating real fundraising campaigns, donor emails, and website copy that directly supports families in Afghanistan.

Commitment: Flexible (Approx. 4–5 hours per week)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will work with a pre-prepared Communications Toolkit to help us write and polish:

• Monthly community newsletters.

• Seasonal fundraising appeal copy (e.g., Ramadan, Zakat, orphan sponsorship).

• Donor email sequences and thank-you notes.

• Press releases and outreach letters for new NGO partners.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We welcome applications from students, career-switchers, or experienced writers.

• A strong, adaptable writing style.

• Reliability and the ability to meet agreed deadlines.

• A genuine passion for humanitarian work and international development.

• No previous charity experience required – just great writing skills and drive!

WHAT YOU WILL GET IN RETURN

• A standout portfolio piece (the complete launch of a UK charity branch).

• A professional reference for your future job applications.

• Founding contributor status credited in our annual report.
