Purpose of the job
The Senior Hr & Operations Officer is responsible for the charity’s day to day HR and operational functions to ensure efficiency and compliance. The role involves managing recruitment, onboarding and mandatory training records whilst maintaining accurate HR records.
Operational responsibilities include co-ordinating office administration, procurement and facilities management to ensure a safe, productive workplace. The ideal candidate will bring strong organisational, interpersonal and problem solving skills to streamline processes and the confidence and ability to lead change.
Duties and responsibilities
Human resources
1. Maintain employee records in line with GDPR principles and confidentiality requirements
2. Support health and safety compliance with our external Health and Safety Partners, Croner
3. Co-ordination of employee mandatory training including keeping accurate training records
4. Oversee the day-to-day management of our HR management system, BrightHR
5. Support SLT through the full recruitment cycle from job posting to conditional offers and pre-employment checks
6. Manage the Onboarding process for new starters to ensure a positive induction experience
7. Ensure compliance with legal policy frameworks related to employment and health and safety
8. Provide HR guidance and support to SLT and employees on employee relations and workplace policies in liaison with our external HR partner, Croner
9. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR practices and procedures
10. Manage all HR related policies, ensuring they remain relevant and up to date in collaboration with our external HR partners, Croner
11. Assist with employee engagement initiatives and staff wellbeing programs to promote a positive workplace culture
Facilities
1. Ordering art therapy supplies, stationery, and kitchen items as required
2. Manage and maintain operational contracts (Phone & utility contracts, Business Insurance etc.)
3. Manage building maintenance and ensure workplace Health and Safety standards are upheld in co-ordination with our external Health and Safety partners, Croner.
4. Book venues and organise lunch for Staff/SLT away days
5. Support SLT with the set up and management of our outreach centers
6. Oversee asset ordering and management, maintaining and up to date asset log
7. Be the first point of call for staff for internal operational enquiries
General Responsibilities
1. Occasional reception cover e.g. answer the door to clients when the Pathway Administrator is absent. We do not expect you to answer the phone or take client enquiries when covering reception
2. Multiple inbox management, including the recruitment inbox and shared operations inbox
3. To contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation by helping improve systems and procedures.
4. Work with the wider team to facilitate effective communication across the organisation
5. Assisting with basic housekeeping requirements

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
As part of this role, you will:
- Collaborate with Careers Leads across academies to design and implement a high-impact careers education programme aligned with the latest statutory guidance, including the enhanced Gatsby Benchmarks and each academy’s improvement priorities
- Plan and deliver engaging careers assemblies that expand students’ awareness of post-16 and post-18 pathways, alongside other relevant career-related topics
- Provide impartial, tailored career guidance through one-to-one meetings and group sessions that empower students to make informed, realistic and adaptable decisions about their futures
- Accurately record all guidance interactions and agreed actions on Unifrog, ensuring student data is kept up to date and accessible
- Offer targeted support to students navigating post-16 and post-18 transitions, including referrals to specialist services for those with additional needs, such as SEND
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external agencies, networks, and partners to enrich the careers and higher education offer and maximise student outcomes
- Track, monitor and report on student aspirations to inform strategic planning and targeted interventions
- Engage parents and carers in the careers guidance process, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s journey, including attendance at parents’ evenings
- Facilitate meaningful employer encounters that inspire students and broaden their understanding of the world of work
- Attend key events such as results days and enrolment days to provide on-the-spot careers support and guidance
- Support colleagues across the team by sharing best practice, offering shadowing opportunities and contributing to a collaborative learning culture
- Actively contribute to Careers Adviser team meetings by sharing insights, experiences or resources that enhance practice and support team development

- Offer coaching guidance to empower individuals, helping them to achieve the appropriate next steps
- Work in conjunction with the Volunteer Development Manager to recruit, train and manage volunteers who assist in delivering support services
- Lead on aspects of cross team projects and develop new resources that meet our community’s needs, while collaborating with other teams and external partners
- Identify gaps in knowledge across the Support Team and identify possible training areas
- Developing information for our website and other resources, for example, writing initial drafts and reviewing information
- Plan and facilitate online and in person events for the brain tumour community, including online meet ups for young adults
- Day to day management of our online peer support platforms, for example our Facebook groups for Young Adults affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.
- Provide support to our Young Ambassadors through coordinating activities and check ins, facilitating meetings, and enabling meaningful input into our Young Adults Service.

About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious and experienced practitioner to join Become’s Care Advice Service. They will respond to enquiries to our independent national Care Advice Line (CAL), advising children and young people in and leaving care, and professionals and caregivers supporting them, so that young people understand and access their rights, are signposted to specialist support, and feel less alone as they navigate care. They will deliver workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands, advising care experienced young people and care leavers to understand their rights.
Location
We are currently hybrid working: our team primarily works from home with in-person attendance and meetings generally expected once or twice per month, usually at our central hot-desking location in Old Street, London. For non-London based staff we will consider hot-desking options near you, if required. This role will deliver regular in-person workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands. As such Become is unable to meet the cost of travel for this from other regions, or the accumulation of TOIL for travelling to or from the region. However, any travel required within the West Midlands region for work purposes and required travel to our London office will be reimbursed by Become, as London is not the specified location for this role. We are open to conversations about flexible working arrangements.

The ideal Children's Resource Worker will already have some experience in engagement and participation with vulnerable children, young people, care experienced children or have similar experience in child-facing settings. We are looking for a Housing Night Worker to join our Horsham Y team. Main areas of responsibilities are:
Safety and security
- Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house welcome to residents, visitors and staff, and ensure the building is safe, secure quiet and welcoming
- Maximise the wellbeing of residents and visitors by ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and house rules, all within the terms of tenancy agreements

Engagement with residents

- Ensure resident’s views, aspirations, concerns, and ideas are sought so they can play an active role in influencing the services they receive

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for dedicated School Mental Health Practitioners to join the Harris Federation’s central mental health team and make a meaningful impact in secondary schools across London.
You will be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team led by our Lead Mental Health Practitioner, receiving regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development and helping to shape the future of mental health support in education.
In this full-time role, you will deliver evidence-based, low-intensity mental health interventions to students aged 11–18 across up to three Harris secondary academies. You will work directly with students through 1:1 sessions, group work and whole-school wellbeing initiatives, helping to shape a culture of mental health awareness and support.
You will be based in schools for four days per week, primarily in South, South East and South West London, and occasionally in North London. Travel between schools is required.

- Providing tailored 1:1 mental health and wellbeing support to students and their families
- Facilitating small group interventions and psychoeducational sessions

This is a great opportunity to support local communities and work with Unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.
You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.
This is a full-time role and applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a relevant sector.
