The job
This is a fantastic opportunity to join this fast-growing charity at a pivotal time, and make significant impact as our grass-roots Schools’ Project Officer. You will be visiting schools, explaining about what we do at assemblies and going for follow up sessions, and then giving email feedback to applications.

We are a small lively charity promoting the personal development of year 12s in partner schools, through challenging activities that they design, plan and finally undertake adult-free. We invite students (individually or in groups) to develop their own challenges well outside their ‘comfort zones’, and to be responsible for every stage of the process. We help them plan and manage risk, and give them expenses funding. Our award winners have climbed the highest UK peaks, cycled to Paris, performed plays at school, harnessed green power via a bike, among many other imaginative and ambitious projects.   

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate for our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s in our 85 partner London state schools (20% of the total).  There is scope to help shape our strategy. We are looking for competent project officer, ideally with experience of physical challenge, strong administrative skills and with strong writing skills: they will be comfortable working with students, and value personal challenge and development. He/she will be keen to work with a growing charity, and to support young people usually with a poverty of experience and opportunity.

The 10-month post is up to 4-5 days per week, based in Southwark, with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is £26,600–£35,000 pa pro rata. Flexible working is considered.

The Role

What You'll Own

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery

• Promoting the charity’s work with new school and community partners and onboarding new schools
• Preparing proposals and designing and organising volunteering programmes with partner schools.
• Leading the programme delivery across a range of activities, including trips, clubs, giving back days and one-off events an projects
• Recording event data on the charity’s CRM
• Ensuring the safety and compliance of all TimeGivers’ activities including conducting risk assessments and  ensuring adequate staffing levels

• Compiling termly/ end of year school impact reports
• Collating impact from all school partners
• Liaising with external impact consultants as required, refining the charity’s metrics, impact data and collection

Finance and Fundraising

• Preparation and ownership of event/programme budgets
• Issuing donation requests and receipts to the charity’s partners.
• Recording and monitoring expenditure for all programme activities, liaising with the charity’s finance team when required

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of youth work in England. As Policy and Public Affairs Manager at the National Youth Agency (NYA), you’ll play a central role in influencing national policy and driving change that impacts young people’s lives.
 
We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic individual to join our Policy, Insights and External Affairs Directorate. You’ll work closely with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs, line manage the Policy and Public Affairs Officer, and collaborate with colleagues and sector partners to deliver a bold and proactive policy agenda that champions youth work in policy making. WHAT IS OUR SECOND HOME

We are a youth movement that empowers people with refugee backgrounds to build community, become leaders, and flourish into adulthood in the place that they call home.

We are looking for a highly engaging Leadership & Volunteering Manager to lead and grow our leadership training programming, and to lead on the recruitment, development and retention of our pool of volunteers. You will work across our various hubs to ensure all volunteers are well-supported, feel valued, and are making meaningful contributions to OSH’s mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership Training & Development

• Oversee and continue to codify OSH’s LIT (Leaders in Training) course, including in-person and online sessions, and mentoring LITs on their first residential. This will include hands-on delivery, managing logistics, and working with volunteers and facilitators.

• Co-design and develop other leadership programmes for young people.

• Support young people from refugee backgrounds to move from participants to leaders within OSH.

• Lead the delivery of training and induction for new and returning volunteers in hubs, at pre camp training days and leaders retreats. This includes safeguarding, group dynamics, facilitating groups, and OSH values, but will also include identifying gaps and trends in skills and experiences.

• Help shape the pedagogy and outcomes of OSH’s leadership programmes.

Volunteer Strategy & Recruitment

• Ensure there is an active pipeline of people signing up for the LIT course

• Design and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy to attract a diverse range of volunteers from within OSH and externally.

• Build partnerships with universities, youth networks, and professional communities to widen reach.

• Develop inclusive recruitment materials and accessible application processes.

Volunteer Engagement

• Develop progression pathways for volunteers.

• Ensure an active culture of feedback and reflection within leadership and volunteering.

• Track volunteer impact and progression.

• Coordinate check-ins, socials, and wellbeing support for volunteers.

• Work closely with the whole team to ensure volunteer experiences are safe, rewarding, and well-held.

Operations & Evaluation

• Maintain volunteer records and communications using Beacon (OSH’s CRM).

• Monitor data on volunteer recruitment, attendance, retention, progression, and impact.

• Contribute to fundraising work, for example by ensuring there is a regular supply of case studies for OSH programmes.

• Collaborate with colleagues to share impact and improve practice.

Other duties

• Getting involved in OSH events in the evenings and at weekends, including residentials. These are overnight trips from 2 to 5 nights

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

• Excellent facilitation, training, and communication skills.

• Strong experience managing volunteer programmes and/or leadership development.

• Experience designing leadership training or curriculum.

• Understanding of and training in safeguarding in youth settings.

• A deep understanding of inclusive, trauma-informed, and youth-centered approaches.

• Experience supporting young people from marginalised backgrounds, ideally those with lived experience of the asylum system.

• Experience volunteering or working in residential programming.

• Ability to build relationships across diverse groups and inspire trust and commitment.

• Organised and systems-minded, with good project management skills.

• Confident using digital tools (e.g. Google Workspace, CRMs)

• Passion for OSH’s mission and commitment to centering people with refugee backgrounds.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

About the role

This is an exciting new role in Crisis to deliver upstream prevention in partnership with Brent Council in Harlesden by supporting a newly set up Neighbourhood Team and contribute towards its key aims of preventing homelessness and income insecurity as part of Crisis and Brent Council’s place-based approach.

You will:

• Be a first point of contact for people in Harlesden who are at risk of homelessness, who are also likely living with debt / income insecurity and who may not have engaged with services or who fall outside homeless services’ criteria or statutory level support and who could benefit from holistic earlier support.

• Through high quality, person-centred IAG, coaching, advocacy, casework and a range of relational methods you will enable local people in Harlesden to resolve issues themselves, access services or be linked to the integrated neighbourhood team to help to address to address barriers and seek solutions.

• Reach out to people in the community, listen carefully to their story as you work with them to agree options and possibilities, and identify a range of solutions to support their goals, improving income security and preventing possible future homelessness.

• As lead worker create person centred support for an individual, to build collaborative, consistent and Psychologically Informed relationships with individuals and stakeholders from a range of services within and outside the integrated neighbourhood team.

About you

• You have worked within a relevant sector that supports people e.g., homelessness, mental health, drug and alcohol treatment, social care, education and skills, youth work, community development

• You can demonstrate awareness of barriers to engagement and participation experienced by people facing homelessness or a future risk of homelessness and other forms of social exclusion with an understanding of how they might be overcome.

• You have experience of assessing presenting needs, and an understanding of strengths-based assessments and action planning. Empathy and understanding of the barriers to accessing services and support faced by homeless people including mental health issues, and awareness of ways to over-coming them, including planning and reviewing actions and goals, meeting client needs and priorities.

• You work collaboratively with the ability to build and manage successful relationships with external agencies and relevant service providers and successfully advocate on behalf of clients and strong interpersonal skills.

• You have experience of delivering high quality information, advice and guidance or coaching and managing a caseload within a relevant sector, holding a Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance or coaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.

• You are able to effectively manage own workload, including a varied caseload, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities, exercise judgment under pressure and balance competing demands and willingness to reflect upon and develop own practice.

• You are a strong team player and ability to work on own initiative and seek support and advice where appropriate

• You can demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding and commitment to act in compliance with safeguarding policy and procedures

The Reception Manager is a critical and central role at The Minster Centre, providing a welcoming service to students, room hirers, therapy clients and staff members that is efficient and aligned with The Minster Centre’s Ethos. As part of this role, you will provide first-line support to tutors and students as well as undertake administrative duties crucial to the running of the Centre. You will also provide support to other staff members where appropriate.

Job summary

The ideal candidate will have previous administration and front of house experience to help ensure that all building users (students, room hirers and clients) are welcomed, that the building is available and set up for training and therapy services, and that the building is closed and secured at the end of the day. Furthermore, they would be organised, have excellent IT skills and knowledge and, ideally, practice of using Zoom. They will have the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure. In addition, they will be able to work autonomously on various tasks and work well in a team. This is a great opportunity for someone with relevant transferable skills to develop those skills further.

Duties and responsibilities

Oversee and manage the Reception Team

• Ensure Reception is always covered by organising a reception rota that covers absence, holidays, etc.

General management of Reception

• Receive and welcome visitors.

• Order stationary and other supplies as requested.

• Provide IT support for tutors facilitating Zoom teaching sessions including troubleshooting.
• Manage tutor Zoom accounts.
• Schedule Zoom sessions.

Student support and progression 

• Ensure that students are enrolled on courses and set up on systems accurately.
• Manage the re-enrolment process between academic years. 
• Oversee the recording of student progression. 
• Liaise with and support the Operations Team in organising the annual Graduation event and ensuring all eligible students receive timely information.
