Job Overview:
Specialist Behaviour Support Workers are responsible for supporting people with learning disabilities and behavioural needs to live full lives, develop skills and maintain their wellbeing. The Welwyn Supported Living Service will be a new home for one customer with learning disabilities and Autism, and we are looking to build a staff team with an excellent value base to support the customer to build their new life and develop their skills as an independent person.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the customer to undertake a full timetable of preferred activities including art, visiting galleries, attending community groups, visiting local amenities, and introducing them to new activities to expand their horizons and networks
- Developing the customer's independent living skills and involving them in all aspects of maintaining and developing their home, including cooking, shopping, cleaning and decorating
- Enabling the customer to keep up with the important people in their life and to meet new people with shared interests
- Supporting the customer to communicate their wants and needs, and communicating with them in a person-centred way
- Supporting the customer to manage their anxieties and frustrations, using Positive Behaviour Support and Autism-specific approaches
- Collating a range of behavioural data and essential paperwork to be analysed within our local management structure
- Driving the customer to activities using the customer's vehicle, in rotation with the wider team
- Communicating with family members and a range of other key stakeholders including social work, psychology and commissioning teams
- Acting in accordance with the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care & Support plus those specific to the service including any statutory requirements

Welwyn Hatfield Women's Refuge and Support Services (WHWR) is a vital resource for women and families in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, offering a safe haven away from domestic violence and abuse.
We provide accommodation to women and children for up to four months at a time to enable a break from their situation or to allow them to start building a new life away from an abusive or violent relationship or home environment.
More than a third of the residents in our refuge are children, the majority of whom are of pre-school age. About You
To join us as a Lead Child Support Worker, you will need:
- Experience of working with children and/or young people who have experienced domestic violence or family trauma
- An understanding of the issues facing women and children who have been victims of domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual abuse)
- An understanding of child growth and development
- Knowledge of basic first aid procedures and the ability to recognise symptoms of illnesses common among children
- The ability to produce clear, accurate written work, such as letters, reports and records
- At a minimum, a Level 3 childcare qualification or equivalent

Carers Federation Ltd is a national charity and Company Limited by Guarantee established in 1992 to empower Carers, the people for whom they care and the wider community. The charity is managed by a Board of Trustees elected by our membership.
Our Action for Young Carers service helps young people aged 5-18. As part of a small team of Support Workers you will work closely with Young Carers and their families in Nottingham City. The attributes of AYC Support Worker would be.
- Deal with emotional, practical, and physical pressures
- Working with families providing assistance and one to one support
- Offer appropriate interventions and identify needs of individual and or family with internal and external support organisation statutory.
- Confident, conscientious, enthusiastic
- Previous experience in working with children
- You will be expected to deliver group activities during school holidays and at least one evening a week during term time.
You will work within Nottingham City Safeguarding Board policies and procedures alongside those of Carers Federation.
It is essential that you are a driver and car user as the role entails travel throughout Nottingham City and you will need to transport Young Carers to and from various activities.

Key responsibilities
Provide 24/7 cover within the organisations Intake & Assessment property on a rota basis
Welcome new clients into the organisations accommodation-based support facilities
Complete a comprehensive induction with all new residents
Ensure all housing benefit forms are completed within a timely manner
Support the IPA with a caseload of diverse risk and need to ensure all women and children, whenever possible are supported through their journey by the same worker
Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.
Person specification
Have a good understanding of domestic violence/ abuse including the impact of domestic violence/ abuse on victims and their children.
Have theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
Understand child protection issues, how to respond to effectively safeguard, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic violence/ abuse and their children.
Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
Working with vulnerable people, including families and/ or children.
The post-holder is expected to work flexibly between 00:00hrs 23:59hrs Monday-Sunday.
