We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Volunteer for Community Events. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact by attending and facilitating community events for LGBTQIA+ Muslim groups in Manchester. Some of the responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

● Assist the Community Trustee in researching and planning events for the hub in Manchester, London and Scotland

● Communicate with members on our Discord channel to coordinate attendance and activities

● Liaise with speakers, performers, and workshop facilitators to ensure their needs are met and their contributions align with the goals and values of the community.

● Set up and take down meeting rooms including workshop materials, refreshments and other ops as required

● Engage with attendees, volunteers, and stakeholders during events to ensure a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

● Record attendance collect feedback and evaluate the success of each event, making recommendations for improvement.

● Assist workshop leaders and Trustees in delivering activities

● Assist with special projects and initiatives as directed by the Trustees

How much commitment is required?

We are flexible around your schedule. However, the following commitments are in place for volunteers.

● Attend monthly meetings to update on tasks, progress etc.

● Aim to attend all other planning meetings as necessary

● Attend all Hidayah Hub events

● Attend other Hidayah events where geographically possible

● Add to and maintain the administration of our file-sharing system ‘Google Drive’ to ensure it’s up to date with clear records, templates and forms

● Check and respond to emails in a timely manner

● Contribute to the communications group (via Discord) and stay up to date with Hidayah developments

● Keep up to date with Hidayah communication and organisational developments

As an office volunteer, you’ll play a vital role supporting our small fundraising team with administrative and office related duties.

In this role, no two days will be the same! You may be inputting data, making telephone calls, packing and sending out letters, counting donations, preparing stock for events or contacting fellow volunteers to fill our events rota.

What is a Committee Secretary?
There are SSAFA committees on many military bases around the UK and overseas. Each one has a secretary to 
makes sure that meetings are organised, volunteer information is up to date and decisions are recorded. This is a 
key role involving administration and communicating with people. 

Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community for more than 130 years. In recognition of their service to the 
Nation we aim to provide financial, practical and emotional support when it’s needed most. To do this we need 
local volunteers who can ensure the community know about SSAFA and keep things running smoothly behind the 
scenes.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about communication and administration. Many volunteers can do this from home or their place of 
work. The role would suit someone looking to offer a regular time commitment. You would also need to organise 
and attend a number of regular meetings each year. This role is an Office Bearer with voting rights.

What would you be doing?
• Working with the committee to agree an annual plan of activity based on local need
• Providing administration for at least four meetings per year
• Monitoring volunteer numbers against the demand for support and recruit new volunteers as needed
• With the support of the Learning and Development and Volunteer Experience Teams at Central Office,
ensuring all volunteers have completed the training and mandatory tasks required for their roles.
• Building positive relationships with regional and central office staff and other providers represented on base
• Providing reports to the local SSAFA branch and to SSAFA’s Central Office
• Maintaining accurate and up to date volunteer records, reporting any changes to Central Office 
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential beneficiary, 
volunteer or fundraiser
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including adhering to our policies such as the 
volunteering policy and data protection policy

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) are rapidly progressing neurological conditions caused by premature loss of nerve cells in certain parts of the brain. 

Living with a diagnosis of PSP or CBD is life-changing and affects individuals and their families in a variety of different ways. A diagnosis can put a real strain on family members’ mental health and well-being.

As a Link Volunteer, you will offer support to families in your local community who are adjusting to a diagnosis. A Link Volunteer will be supported by PSPA to provide information, practical and emotional support. For the families you support, having a Link Volunteer to talk to regularly about their worries can make a huge difference. 

Becoming a Link Volunteer is a great way to gain and develop existing skills whilst making a difference to people living with PSP & CBD and their families.

We are seeking Social Media Volunteers to assist our Social Media Marketing Team in creating and distributing engaging content on Hidayah’s social media platforms. Social media is integral to connecting with the Hidayah community, growing our organisational reach and promoting events such as our Queer Book Club, in-house research and educational resources for Ramadan.

We also use our social media platforms to post adverts for volunteers, promote Hidayah’s membership, respond to world news via solidarity statements and signpost LGBTQI+ Muslims to a range of national and international support.

You do not need to be LGBTQI+ or Muslim to be able to carry out this role. However, it is important to have a broad knowledge and understanding of these areas to be able to genuinely engage with the specific audience that follows Hidayah’s social media platforms.

What are the key responsibilities of this role?

Our Social Media Volunteers have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Creating and editing content to distribute across Hidayah’s social media platforms e.g. TikTok and Instagram
• Communicating with other volunteers and the Social Media Marketing Trustee on feedback, suggestions and issues

In this generalist role, you will find yourself responsible for a variety of tasks; helping to ensure that both our programme activities and day-to-day operations run smoothly. Second Tree works in a transparent way, in a challenging and changeable situation in the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.

The possible tasks included below are not exhaustive or rigidly defined; an exact role profile is dependent on the skill set of individual applicants. An average day might see you talking to students in a camp to tell them about a new class, or supporting in the writing of a grant proposal. Tasks could loosely fall within 4 key areas:

Programmes:

• Supporting programme coordinators in maintaining the day to day running of their activities with the Youth Wellbeing or Adult Education Programmes

AFAWI has a number of ongoing projects for Volunteer Interns to choose from. These projects are located in rural communities no tour companies have access to.

Purpose

An Oxfordshire Youth Hospital Navigator Volunteer will provide support to Oxfordshire Youth staff and young people within our Hospital Navigator scheme. The post holder will passionately believe in the potential of all young people to achieve their goals.

An Oxfordshire Youth, Hospital Navigators Volunteer will be an advocate for young people.

Oxfordshire Youth Hospital Navigators Volunteers do not have fixed hours, but commit to flexible hours to suit their availability and staff needs. Shifts are available 7 days per week.

Join our dynamic team YPSA Team to coordinate the ground-breaking Intervention programme - Hospital Navigator.  With an increase in the number of young people presenting at emergency departments due to serious violence, mental health issues, and substance abuse, we are addressing an urgent need for signposting young people to support services following discharge from A&E.

The Hospital Navigators will establish trust with young people who arrive at the JR hospital due to pre-existing concerns such as substance addiction, mental health issues, personal care, and violence itself. When in the hospital, there is an opportunity for the young person to reflect and be open to intervention. A volunteer in a dedicated Navigator role would request permission to refer the young person to a third-party agency that can provide the necessary specialist support. This moment may assist in redirecting the young person back into the community via a different pathway. The volunteer would connect them with a local support agency/charity that would assist them in reintegrating into the community, building resilience, and providing mentoring to prevent repeat occurrences that could lead to their hospitalisation.

The Navigator Coordinator will supervise Hospital Navigator volunteers. Once the navigator has gained the young person's trust and agreement, they will prepare an assessment and referral form that includes the type of difficulties, services available for referral, and the type of communication the client prefers.

Main volunteering duties

● Work within a busy A&E and the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) within JR hospital setting

● Liaise with the triage nurse team once people are medically cleared, to screen and offer signposting to appropriate services outside of the hospital

● Liaise with the A&E rapid response team to identify patients readmitted multiple times, and offer information to try to help reduce further re-admission

● Require administrative skills and be able to use IT, including finding out information from the internet on where and how to access services.

● Work within a team of people including doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists. 

● Some important skills include good communication with people, and the ability to listen and build trust in a relatively short time frame.

This role profile is subject to amendment following discussion with the post holder and daily tasks will be determined by the needs of the young people and staff.

What you will gain

You will gain valuable experience and receive high-quality training to ensure you feel confident and motivated to support different aspects of Youth work. You will learn about teamwork, building and maintaining groups and recognising group dynamics.

Available training includes Safeguarding Levels 1 and 2 and GDPR. In addition, it will be possible to have further discussions about available opportunities for a Diploma in Youth Work Practice. Please note that some of this training is mandatory and you will only be able to volunteer if you complete this training.

All volunteers must undergo a DBS check.

The purpose of the role of Lifelites’ Honorary Secretary will be to create and maintain registers to enable the Trustees to review and update governance, statutory, and regulatory policies and reports, and to file them with external agencies as required. In addition, the role will support Lifelites’ Board of Trustees and Committee meetings, including the preparation of agendas, papers and minute taking.

About you

You are an experienced administrator or company secretary with a highly organised attitude, excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills. You will be passionate about Lifelites’ mission and keen to develop good governance within the charity.

Status

The Honorary Secretary will be a volunteer and not a Trustee.  They will have no responsibility for deciding the content of policies and reports but may advise the Trustees on the basis of their knowledge and expertise.

Key responsibilities

• To create registers of all the charity’s governance, statutory, and regulatory policies, procedures, reports, and other documents as and when required.
• To create and oversee a rolling schedule of periodic reviews for each document.
• To inform the Chair, Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team of any changes in governance, legal, statutory, and regulatory and compliance requirements.

Person Specification

• Strong track record and knowledge of charity “good governance”, and statutory and regulatory standards and requirements.
• Willingness and availability to attend a minimum of 4 half day in person Board Meetings and 12 mostly online Committee meetings (2 hours each) per year.
• Flexible and practical approach to work and willingness to travel to meetings (expenses reimbursed).
• Experience of interacting with virtual meeting platforms and other digital communication channels.
• Experience of drafting documents and minute taking.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to be flexible and work independently.
• Exceptional administrative skills, highly organised and good attention to detail.
• Able to anticipate issues and bring them to the attention of others.
• Skilled use of MS Office and cloud applications.

Prison-based volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work (FCW). Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.

Prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as providing groups information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills will vary from prison to prison.

Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work requires ideally a good level of needlework skill (or a willingness to learn), some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively.

Main purpose of volunteering role

To provide a warm and friendly welcome to all our visitors and support the staff  with a variety of administrative tasks.

Availability

The role is required on Mondays and/or Wednesdays, 10am – 4pm.

Location

Based at Carers Trust Hillingdon offices on Uxbridge High Street, UB8 1JT.

Key responsibilities

· Work on your own in the Advice Centre welcoming visitors

· Be patient and empathetic to any visitors and call for an appropriate staff member to deal with the concern

· Answer incoming calls and transferring to appropriate member of staff

· Make calls on behalf of the staff, inviting carers to activities etc.

· Various administrative tasks such as photocopying and inputting data

· Input data onto charity log

· Help support outreach activity

· Help support fund raising activities

· Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to talk to clients

· Good telephone and computer skills

· Show high standards of professional behaviour and appearance

· Be able to reach the venue via public transport or own transport (expenses will be paid)
