You'll lead the organisation's governance, compliance, legal, risk and assurance functions, ensuring robust frameworks and controls are in place to support the delivery of our mission. You'll act as the organisation's lead adviser on governance and regulatory matters, maintaining effective relationships with trustees, governing bodies, regulators, legal advisers, auditors and insurers.

You'll ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, uphold high standards of corporate governance, and oversee the management of legal, contractual, operational and reputational risk. You'll provide strategic oversight of governance, risk management, internal audit, insurance and contractual arrangements, strengthening organisational accountability, supporting informed decision-making and promoting a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across the organisation.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Significant experience in governance, company secretarial practice, compliance, risk or a related discipline.
• Significant experience leading governance and compliance functions within a charity, education or similarly regulated environment.
• Experience supporting Boards, Trustees, Committees or Governing Bodies, including advising on governance matters and overseeing the production of high-quality governance documentation.
• Thorough understanding of company secretarial responsibilities and corporate governance best practice including within a Multi Academy Trust or similar.

Greyhound Rescue Wales (GRW) is Wales’ leading charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming greyhounds and lurchers. Founded in 1993, we have spent more than three decades championing the welfare of sighthounds and working towards our vision: a Wales without greyhound racing, where every greyhound and lurcher has a home and receives the best possible care.

Executive Officer to the Secretary of the Conference

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly organised and proactive Executive Officer to support the Secretary of the Conference.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the Methodist Church's governance, leadership and decision-making structures.

Working closely with the Secretary of the Conference and colleagues across the Conference Office, you will provide executive, governance and project support, helping to ensure the effective delivery of key priorities and the smooth operation of major governance processes.

The role combines executive support, committee and governance administration, research and briefing, stakeholder engagement and project coordination. It offers the opportunity to work with senior leaders, office holders and colleagues from around the Methodist Connexion and beyond.

The post holder will provide advice and support to the Secretary of the Conference across the entire range of their responsibilities. They will prepare briefing papers, reports, presentations, worship material and other documentation supporting the Secretary.

In this crucial role, the Executive Officer will read committee and meeting papers and flag items requiring the Secretary's attention/awareness, ensuring appropriate briefings are received and that the Secretary is alerted to key issues. 

The post holder will also lead on the preparation for regular meetings on behalf of the Secretary of the Conference including the Connexional Leaders’ Forum and the Nominations Committee.  The successful applicant will also liaise with the wider Methodist family of charities and organisations to enable regular engagement and updates for the Secretary.

The myasthenias are a group of neuromuscular conditions. They are rare but also manageable and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or nationality. Myasthenia gravis, ocular myasthenia and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome are autoimmune conditions whereas congenital myasthenic syndrome is caused by an inherited genetic fault. It is thought that there are approximately 20,000 people currently living with myasthenia in the UK.

Job Summary

The purpose of the job is to assist individuals and families in their resettlement into life in Gloucestershire.  Interventions will be aimed to ensure families gain independence and feel integrated into their new communities. Clients come from a variety of traumatic backgrounds, and are often living with the effects of their experiences, which may include trauma, PTSD, and domestic abuse situations.

To support individuals and families through five stages of integration to include: Preparation, Housing, Finance, Education, Health and Employment.

To work with key partners across the geographical area to ensure refugees who arrive through the UKRS and ARAP Resettlement Schemes are referred and signposted into appropriate support services and networks.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.

A full driving license is essential, as a lot of the work involves visiting clients in locations across the county. The work also may involve taking clients to appointments, and collecting/delivering large or bulky items.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. To develop and deliver comprehensive support plans for families who are newly arrived and throughout their first years in the UK. This includes reviewing these at regular intervals to ensure they continue to fully meet the needs of all family members.

2. To be responsible for managing the full support needs of caseload families including helping them to apply for benefits and learn to manage their finances; organising and ensuring attendance at ESOL classes; facilitating access to medical services including initial health assessments and follow ups; applying for schools and ensuring children are supported to settle in; encouraging attendance at community groups and with other practical arrangements as needed on a bespoke basis.

3. To support individuals and families with complex physical and psychological vulnerabilities in order that they are able to link with the help that they need to overcome these as fully as possible.

4. To record, monitor and evaluate casework practice and maintain confidential records for each family using in-house data recording systems.

5. To manage the transition of allocated families from intensive support to independence by empowering families to understand the systems and develop the skills required to live well in the UK.

6. To provide support and advice in a manner which understands the core elements of the refugee journey, the impact of trauma and principles for effective recovery.

7. To support and assist families to seek and secure meaningful and gainful employment to mitigate benefit cap restrictions; to include the development of CV’s and skills audits.

8. To build and maintain collaborative relationship with partner agencies and community services to provide effective support for families. This will include Benefits, Housing, English Learning, Healthcare and Social Care providers as well as others as needed.

9. To help other agencies understand the needs of the families of this programme and to help to avoid misunderstandings between parties due to cultural and language differences.

10. To connect families with meaningful engagement opportunities to enable them to build community connections and networks, develop confidence and learn new skills to improve their well-being.

11. To manage workload effectively using flexibility and adaptability, to ensure a good balance between competing priorities such as urgent client issues, pro-active casework support, medium to long term plans and other project work. This will include providing regular updates on all areas of work to the UKRS/ARAP Resettlement Team Leaders.

The Role

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly hands-on Interim Head of Finance to join an international not-for-profit organisation for a short-term assignment.

The key priority will be to hold the fort during a period of transition, ensuring the day-to-day finance function continues to operate effectively before providing a comprehensive handover to the incoming permanent Head of Finance.

This is very much a hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up role. Alongside overseeing the finance function, you will be comfortable getting into the detail yourself, including making payments, managing payroll and VAT returns, maintaining accurate financial information and supporting the migration to a new banking provider.

A significant project during the assignment will also be leading the development of the organisation’s 2027 annual budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function throughout the interim period.

About the Role 

As a Support Worker in a Children’s Home, you will provide direct support and care for our young people, who have complex emotional and mental health difficulties (such as trauma and loss) and can struggle to regulate their emotions. THE CHARITY
Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under 35 and three quarters of those who die by suicide are men. James’ Place exists to save the lives of men in suicidal crisis through delivering clinical services. We are a charity currently offering free, life-saving therapy to suicidal men at our centres in Liverpool, London, Newcastle and Birmingham.

James’ Place was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts but didn’t find it.

James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. We offer men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected. We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centres and in our outside spaces, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families. We have so far treated over 5,100 men who might otherwise have been unable to access the support they desperately need.

You will provide advice and administrative support that enables fair, consistent and legally compliant HR practices, whilst ensuring every interaction is handled with sensitivity, professionalism and respect. From maintaining accurate records and supporting employee relations to coordinating recruitment, onboarding and training, your work will help create a seamless and supportive employee experience grounded in integrity, collaboration and care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Advice and Administration

• Act as a first point of contact for managers and staff, providing general HR advice and guidance
• Manage a central HR email inbox, responding to both internal and external queries in a timely, professional and sensitive manner, always maintaining privacy and confidentiality
• Preparation of letters, contracts, job offers, and other HR administration, with oversight from the People Manager
• Collaborate with the Finance Team to ensure variations in contracts and payroll changes are communicated effectively
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation using our HR portal, monitoring staff professional registrations, certifications, and training requirements
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation, regulations and statutory requirements, promoting fair and ethical workplace practices
• Monitor general HR trends, identify patterns and produce reports as required

Employee Relations (ER)

• Provide ER support, advice and guidance to managers
• Escalate unresolved or complex ER queries to the People Manager as appropriate
• Monitor ER trends, identify patterns and produce reports for the People Manager and senior leaders as required
• Conduct ER case administration including meeting coordination, minute-taking, and producing reports

Employee Lifecycle

• Coordinate recruitment and onboarding processes, including pre-employment checks, including references, DBS checks, right-to-work verification, and professional registrations
• Act as a superuser for our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to coordinate recruitment and selection processes
• Coordinate the leavers process including issuing acknowledgements and letters, arranging exit interviews and other exiting administration duties

Learning, Development and Training

• Maintain training records, tracking completion, certification, and expirations
• Ensure mandatory training is assigned during the onboarding process, completed and recorded, extracting regular reports for managers
• Support managers in training coordination including scheduling, managing attendance, supporting evaluation and reporting on impact

People, Culture and Values

• Contribute to an inclusive, people-first culture, strengthening diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) initiatives, development pathways and wellbeing so that our people can deliver the best outcomes for men in suicidal crisis
• Support employee engagement, wellbeing initiatives and other HR projects, in collaboration with the People Manager, and report on their results

PERSON SPECIFICATION
This role is ideal for an individual with generalist HR experience, an understanding of HR policies, procedures, and employment law, and a genuine passion for supporting others. You will have excellent communication, organisation and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.

You will demonstrate a genuine commitment to creating a positive, inclusive employee experience, embody the James’ Place values in all that you do, and actively promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, confident in handling sensitive information, and capable of extracting and reporting on data to support informed decision-making, with strong IT proficiency across workplace systems.

Qualifications and Memberships

• CIPD Level 3 / Foundation Qualification or equivalent

• Experience of working in a generalist HR (or related) role
