Job description

Role Overview

Job Title: Child and Young Person Advocate (Fixed Term)

Salary: £25,104 per annum

Location: Warwickshire  - Leamington

Contract type: Fixed Term for 2 years 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Responsibilities

We are recruiting for a Child and Young Person Advocate to join our team in Leamington. We are looking to recruit a female candidate with experience in working with children and youngsters. It is desirable for the candidate to have completed or must have a commitment to undertake the Safelives training. In this role you will be responsible for developing individual support and risk management plans, including risk assessments, safety planning, and needs assessments to address the risk of harm to children and young people.

The job involves working closely with 11 – 17 year- old survivros of domestic abuse. A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support to them and ensure that they are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

Essential Skills or Experience

The successful candidate must have knowledge of domestic (emotional and financial abuse, ‘honour’ based violence and forced marriage) and teenage dating relationship abuse and its impact upon survivors and children. You must have good communication and team work skills and be able to use your own initiative.  You will show strong organisational and administration skills.

It is essential to have working knowledge of the legal system as it relates to victims of domestic abuse. As well as an up to date knowledge of criminal and civil legislation relating to domestic violence.

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the feminist values of empowerment and equality which underpin all of our work. Successful applicants will be expected to work within Refuge’s Values and Behaviour Framework and demonstrate these in their everyday work.
