Responsibilities of our Cat Scientist - Emerging Welfare Technology 

• Support the development, validation, and practical application of feline welfare data collection tools. 

• Coordinate on-site technical logistics and data collection at UK adoption centres, including hardware deployment and software troubleshooting, while designing resilient, internet-enabled monitoring systems. 

• Use specialised programming skills to develop and maintain interactive software applications, creating user-friendly mechanisms for stakeholders to interrogate research outputs and inform management decisions. 

• Act as technical project lead for the transition of a Markerless Pose Estimation (MPE) system from external academic development into internal pipelines for automated cat behaviour and activity monitoring. 

• Lead and support on evidence synthesis projects and associated publications, in order to create robust knowledge bases for shelter, unowned and owned cat welfare and risk factors. 

About the Research team: 

• The Feline Welfare Research Team are a small but growing team of six scientists, who sit within the wider Cat Welfare department. The team supports the organisation in improving our understanding of feline welfare both on a population and individual basis across a range of disciplines including epidemiology, demography and welfare assessment. 

• The team are responsible for providing the charity with scientific expertise. 

What we’re looking for in our Cat Scientist - Emerging Welfare Technology: 

• Extensive experience undertaking non-invasive animal behaviour and welfare studies, including first-author publications. 

• Significant experience in research project design and leadership, including planning, oversight, and completion of projects on time and within budget. 

• Experience leading and advising on data-led research and innovation projects to inform animal management or conservation strategies 

• Strong programming and statistical data analysis skills including experience of transitioning academic research or coding systems into practical, operational tools to support positive animal health and welfare outcomes

• Solid grasp of research principles and the ability to find, absorb, and apply new analytical techniques

Purpose of role

As the Managing Director for the UK and Europe, you will develop and deliver the European fundraising strategy and plans and oversee the execution of all fundraising activities in Europe. These activities include, but are not limited to individual giving, major gifts, bequests, corporate giving, and community fundraising.

Primary responsibilities

The job holder will have the following key responsibilities: 

• Oversees fundraising activities and performance in Humane World for Animals’ EU and UK offices. Works closely with the Country Directors and the VP of International Fundraising on the execution of the fundraising programmes. Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and facilitates collaboration efforts across European offices. (30%)
• Manages all fundraisers in the region and ensures they achieve their goals by providing guidance and advice, training, performance management and career development. Coordinates priorities and tasks and monitors progress. (25%)
• Monitors and reports on performance progress towards agreed revenue targets; efficiency and cost-effectiveness (including external fundraising contractors); and challenges or opportunities in the external fundraising environment. (20%)
• Creates and manages the budget for fundraising expenses and income targets. Sets and reviews multi-year and yearly investment and revenue targets. (10%)
• Leads research, planning, and implementation of new marketing initiatives and acquisition programmes, including but not limited to DRTV, face-to-face, telemarketing and PSMS Mobile channels. Establishes effective donor retention strategies and oversees their execution. (10%)
• Works closely with the VP of International Fundraising to develop and execute a strategic vision to grow fundraising income in the Europe region, translating the vision into an action plan, and ensuring the successful implementation and execution of the vision. (5%)

Requirements

Education and experience

• An academic degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• A minimum of eight or more years of fundraising experience with a proven track record in driving significant, multi-channel revenue growth across multiple markets.
• A minimum of five years of senior management experience leading fundraising or marketing teams, including leadership responsibilities for staff, strategy development and execution, and budget accountability, preferably in the animal welfare arena, required.
• Demonstrated experience scaling high-performing international fundraising programs. International NGO experience strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to deliver multi‑million income portfolios, optimize ROI, and drive continuous improvement in donor acquisition and retention.
• Experience accurately forecasting and reporting on revenue, expenditures and delivering against agreed KPIs.
• At least five years’ experience in at least one of the following income streams: individual giving, major gifts, bequests, corporate giving, and/or community fundraising. Additionally, a strong preference for marketing experience.

This is a full‑time role supporting our specialist animal fostering service, which enables victim‑survivors of domestic abuse to leave abusive relationships by ensuring their much‑loved animals are safe and well cared for.

The focus of this role is to work as part of a dedicated team to maintain the highest standards of animal welfare across a wide range of species. Equally central is providing exceptional support to victim-survivors of domestic abuse, alongside volunteers and colleagues across human and animal health and welfare services.

Your work will directly help individuals and families in crisis, ensuring both they and their animals receive the safety, care, and compassion they deserve.

Applicants must have:

• An animal welfare qualification (minimum Level 3)
• Significant knowledge and proven competence in assessing and handling dogs, cats, and other species in a rescue or similar environment
• A commitment to high standards of animal welfare

The Fundraising Manager will collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement BAWA’s fundraising and communications strategy, particularly acquiring donors and expanding BAWA’s reach globally. The Fundraising Manager will manage most of BAWA’s fundraising channels including grants and mass emails, and will cultivate relationships with donors and funding organizations.

Living and working in Bali is required in the first six months of employment. Subsequently, depending on the applicant's qualifications and experience, remote work with regular trips to Bali will be considered.

About the Role

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organisation, ensuring strong financial integrity, compliance, and transparency. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both experienced oversight and operational involvement.

Our Veterinary Nurses deliver excellent veterinary care for a wide range of small animals, providing both routine healthcare and a large number of emergencies, providing our team with excellent opportunities to develop their skills.

For weekends it is usually 1 in every 6 and for bank holidays, it will be occasional and no more than 2 days a year. As a Veterinary Nurse, you will be confident and capable in delivering excellent nursing care for a range of small animals, providing both emergency and routine healthcare. Legacy Case Officer

Location:  London

Hiring range: 33,000-39,000 GBP per year

Hybrid schedule: 2 days/week in office

The Legacy Case Officer is responsible for the professional administration of a substantial portfolio of UK estates in which the charity is a beneficiary. Managing approximately half of the charity’s active UK caseload, you will ensure gifts left in Wills are realised efficiently, compliantly and in line with the charity’s values. This role is central to safeguarding and maximising legacy income and you will exercise sound judgement, manage risk, and build relationships with executors and legal professionals to secure timely and accurate distributions.

Role and Responsibilities
Portfolio & Case Management

• Independently manage a diverse caseload including pecuniary, specific and residuary gifts from notification through to final distribution.

• Assess Wills, communications and estate accounts to confirm entitlement and identify risks.

• Proactively progress cases, minimising delays and protecting the charity’s interests.

• Maintain clear case files, identifying where further information is required.

• Escalate complex, high-value or contentious matters in line with internal processes.

Income & Financial Handling

• Contribute to reliable income forecasting through active case monitoring and accurate valuations.

• Support timely and appropriate accruals.

• Ensure estate accounts are reviewed, approved and distributions recorded in line with internal controls.

• Identify opportunities to maximise value where appropriate and proportionate.

Relationship Management

• Build and maintain professional relationships with solicitors, executors and co‑beneficiaries, communicating clearly, confidently and with empathy.

• Represent the charity’s interests with a balance of income protection and reputational awareness, ensuring a smooth experience for all parties.

Risk & Compliance

• Ensure estate administration complies with UK probate and charity law, applying proportionate challenge where it appears inconsistent with the charity’s entitlement.

• Maintain accurate, audit ready records and provide recommendations to progress cases requiring management/Trustee input or carrying reputational risk.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Essential Experience and Knowledge

• Experience in estate administration, probate casework or legacy management, with working knowledge of UK probate processes and estate documentation.

• Experience reviewing estate accounts and financial information.

Desirable

• Professional qualification or study toward CiCLA, LMAP, STEP, a law degree or equivalent.

• Experience managing residuary or contentious estates and understanding legacy income recognition in a charity context.

Woodgreen Pets Charity has been helping pets and their owners live happier, healthier lives for over 100 years. We are in an exciting period of growth and transformation and are looking to appoint a Legacy Engagement Manager to our team on a 9-month fixed term basis.  Responsible for developing and implementing our Legacy and In Memory marketing strategies, supporter journeys, and operational plans, our successful applicant will support Woodgreen’s Senior Development Manager to evaluate campaigns and activities, drawing conclusions and making recommendations to support us in securing a growing pipeline of legacy pledgers.

By developing and delivering campaigns in the retention/stewardship stages of the legacy supporter journey they will increase In-Memory income and report and evaluate retention and stewardship activities against objectives and KPIs, ensuring that key learnings are used to inform future development activity.  Planning and developing Woodgreen’s supporter journeys across Legacy, Pet Promise and In Memory our successful candidate will ensure alignment with both Woodgreen’s acquisition strategy and Individual Giving communications and journey.

If you are;

• Experienced in developing and implementing supporter journey programs, events and direct marketing campaigns.
• Enjoy working with data and fundraising databases to develop and measure effective marketing strategies and activities.
• Have substantial analytical skills and attention to detail, specifically in relation to supporter relationships, retention and development management.

And have a good knowledge of best practice legacy marketing and fundraising strategies coupled with a knowledge of, and commitment to, compliance with fundraising codes of practice, fundraising regulator guidelines and data protection regulations we would love to hear from you!

This is a full time 9 month fixed-term opportunity, working 37.5 hours per week on a hybrid basis with the expectation that our successful candidate will work from our Godmanchester site approximately 1 - 2 days a month dependant on business need.  The starting salary for this position will be £35,598 - £43,507 pro rata per annum depending on experience.  This is complemented by;

About this role

The Legacy Officer plays a vital role in securing the long-term future of the charity by administering, promoting, and stewarding the charity’s legacy programme, our largest income stream. Legacies are predicted to peak in the next ten years, so this is an exciting time to help us bolster our existing programme, try new and innovative marketing methods to attract new legacy pledgers, and provide ongoing stewardship to legacy pledgers and enquirers, ensuring supporters understand the lasting impact their gift can have on the lives and welfare of working animals across the world. The Legacy Officer will be part of the Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships department, working with 5 other team members, and managed by the Head of Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the administration of estates in which SPANA has an interest under the guidance of our Legacy Adviser, ensuring compliance with fundraising regulator policies and other legal frameworks. 

Contract, location and salary

This is a permanent, full-time (34.5 hours per week) role. This is a UK based position. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK currently and for the duration of the contract.  The salary for this role is c. £36,000 per annum.
