The Grants and Programmes Manager will manage the delivery of a portfolio of work within the Grants and Programmes function at Battersea. This is an exciting time for Battersea as we expand our work to impact more dogs and cats.
Over the coming five years it is planned that the size and complexity of our activities will grow, including the establishment of several multi-year programmes in the UK and abroad.

This is a senior role within the Grants and Programmes team in the Global Programmes Directorate, requiring excellent experience of people management, strategic leadership and good grant making practice.

The successful postholder should be comfortable making proposals, suggesting alternative approaches and solutions, supporting the contributions of others, and advancing the collective interests of a team. They should also be comfortable working with considerable scope, and complexity and nurturing relationships with colleagues and external partners as an integral element of the role. We’re looking for a Major Gifts Development Manager to build a pipeline of new and existing donors across the North of England and Midlands. This ambitious new position will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Dogs Trust’s work in the region.

What does this role do?
As Major Gift Development Manager, you will:

• build a pipeline of prospective supporters in the region, proactively arranging meetings and approaches with potential donors, identifying individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and may support our work,
• create memorable experiences that bring supporters closer to Dogs Trust by delivering bespoke, creative stewardship plans, underpinned by a deep understanding of donor motivations,
• be a key representative of Dogs Trust with high‑value supporters and senior volunteers and work closely with internal colleagues to create close relationships with donors, providing them with a compelling and fulfilling supporter journey,
• identify opportunities to develop relationships with senior volunteers and influential individuals to strengthening relationships in the region.

This is a hybrid role that will combine working from home and visiting local rehoming centres for meetings with donors across the region. The role will be contractually based at one of the following rehoming centres: Darlington, Leeds, Manchester, Merseyside, Shrewsbury, Kenilworth, Loughborough or Snetterton.

Interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th May and will take place on Teams.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be a natural connector who thrives on meeting new people and building trust. You’ll have experience of fundraising and working with High Net Worth Individuals and making five-figure asks and above, or supporting senior colleagues with making those asks. You’ll need excellent communication skills, with the ability to write compelling proposals and build strong 1-1 relationships. Branch Manager
RSPCA Finchley, Golders Green, Hendon & District Branch

Salary: £32,000–£35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the role

At the RSPCA Finchley Branch, we are seeking a practical and organised Branch Manager to support the delivery and development of our local animal welfare services and the oversight of our retail operations through the line management of Shop Managers.

This is a strategic role with a hands-on focus on operational delivery, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations across animal welfare, retail operations through the line management of Shop Managers and volunteer activity. Working closely with Trustees, the postholder will help ensure that services are delivered effectively, safely and in line with our charitable objectives, with a clear focus on achieving positive outcomes for animals and the community.

The role is hybrid, combining remote working with regular travel across the branch area, including visits to our charity shops in East Finchley and North Finchley, as well as occasional in-person meetings and operational activity where needed to deliver the Branch outcomes in line with the agreed objectives and priorities.

In this role, you will

You will be responsible for the effective delivery of animal welfare outcomes across the branch, ensuring animals are safely supported from intake through to rehoming, while also supporting the RSPCA Inspectorate. Alongside this, you will oversee day-to-day branch operations, including managing a small team of staff and volunteers, overseeing the performance of the branch’s retail activity through the line management of Shop Managers to contribute to sustainable income.

Working with the Chair and the relevant Trustee portfolio lead, including the Treasurer, to ensure financial oversight, governance and compliance and to deliver the agreed objectives, and working with veterinary partners, staff and volunteers, other RSPCA branches as well as other charities, you will ensure that services are delivered consistently, responsibly and in line with the branch’s priorities.

About you

You will be comfortable working in a role that combines strategic and operational responsibilities, and able to organise your workload effectively. You will have experience of coordinating services or operations and managing both staff and volunteers, achieving results through effective line management, and bring a genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes through well-organised and consistent delivery. You will also have a calm and practical approach, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers and the local community, and a strong commitment to delivering meaningful and lasting outcomes for animals.

Purpose of role

As the Program Manager, Media and Communications, you will support the Program Director on the design, development and implementation of communication strategies and plans to advance Humane World for Animals UK’s strategic priorities with regard to campaigns, brand-building and fundraising. You will lead on producing and delivering a content strategy for a broad range of channels to increase audience engagement. The position will support campaigns and fundraising stewardship and give strategic advice regarding social media market insights and trends in the UK digital sphere and emerging channels. This will be vital to achieve successful brand building in the UK market through impactful storytelling, campaign activations, fundraising recruitment and stewardship through compelling content on the earned channels and holistic management of thematic work.

• Social media:  Plan, schedule and manage day-to-day (and occasional out-of-hours) social media activity, engaging online communities, managing paid social media advertising and delivering campaigns that support advocacy, fundraising and recruitment. Maintain the visual asset library and manage a social media volunteer.
• Influencer and partnership engagement:Identify and recruit influencers and celebrities to extend our reach and support our campaigns
• Administration: Monitor and report on performance using tools like Google Analytics and social monitoring platforms to guide continual improvement.Coordinate activities with colleagues using planning platforms.

About you

Our successful candidate will be confident, creative and positive with a proven track in media and communications roles. A proactive self-starter, you will have demonstrable experience of achieving significant growth and development in regard to audience reach and will take a solution-focused approach to overcoming obstacles. You will have experience of delivering media and communication strategies and plans in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to strengthen standards, improve processes, and help ensure our schemes are sustainable, robust, and internationally relevant. 

Key responsibilities 

• Contribute to the review and development of accreditation and licensing schemes, from application through to assessment and renewal 

• Monitor emerging global standards, legislation, and research relevant to animal welfare accreditation 

• Conduct competitor and sector analysis to inform scheme development 

• Support the creation of clear policies, procedures, guidance, and implementation plans 

• Work with data and digital teams to improve systems, reporting, and efficiency 

• Coordinate timelines, manage budgets, and identify risks and opportunities

This is an exciting opportunity for a digitally confident fundraiser, campaigner or digital marketer to take ownership of paid digital acquisition activity that supports both fundraising and advocacy objectives. Working across channels including search and social, you will plan, deliver and optimise high-performing campaigns that generate leads, secure donations, and drive petition/action sign-ups. You will also help shape supporter journeys, test new channels, manage DRTV agency relationships, and use performance insight to maximise conversion and return on investment.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience managing digital acquisition campaigns, including hands-on experience with social ads platforms, search ads, analytics and tracking tools. You will be highly organised, comfortable managing multiple priorities, confident working with budgets and KPIs, and able to build strong relationships with colleagues, agencies and stakeholders at all levels. A strong understanding of supporter-first, data-led digital practice, conversion optimisation and digital fundraising compliance is essential. You do not need to have previous charity sector experience for this position.

The Role
Under the direction of the a newly appointed Head of Income Generation and Engagement, you will create, deliver and evaluate a long-term Individual Giving strategy.

This role is focused on building a long-term, sustainable individual giving programme that allows the charity to connect with new supporters, deepen relationships with existing ones, and grow their impact.
Build a diverse and sustainable individual giving portfolio suited to the brand, stakeholders, resources and growth aspirations.
Plan and deliver engaging multi-channel fundraising campaigns, appeals and/or product promotions.
Use data and insight to drive performance, monitor results, and build cases for support.
Develop and deliver supporter journeys to encourage loyalty and growth across all income streams.
Integrate individual giving with wider brand, marketing, communications and retail initiatives.
Provide support to branches in ad hoc individual giving activities.
Work collaboratively with the PR / Engagement Manager to maximise impact of integrated campaigns both nationally and with branches.

Our Radcliffe-based centre is at the heart of Blue Cross’s work in Greater Manchester, providing vital services in a creative, community-focused way. We don’t have kennels or catteries on site, so we think differently to help pets and their people, from running a busy food bank to delivering rehoming and support services for a variety of animals.

As Assistant Manager – Client Services, you’ll be at the forefront of this work. You’ll: 

• Lead the client services team to deliver exceptional care from first enquiry through to adoption or other support 
• Work closely with the team to assess and admit pets, match them with the right adopters, and guide clients through every step of their journey 
• Use data and insights to shape services and continuously improve client experience 
• Collaborate with the local leadership team to meet targets and drive pet welfare outcomes 
• Be hands-on with day-to-day operations including managing enquiries, prioritising admissions and promoting pets in our care 

This is a permanent, full-time role, working full time at 37.5 hours per week on a rota that includes 1 in 3 weekends and bank holidays. The working day is from 8.30am to 5.00pm.

As a Foster Coordinator, you’ll recruit, support, and manage a diverse network of volunteer fosterers across your local area. Working closely with the Adoptions Coordinator, you’ll monitor foster capacity, match pets to suitable homes, and ensure a smooth and effective fostering journey. 

You’ll also build strong relationships within local communities and with partner organisations, promoting fostering opportunities and attracting new volunteers. Alongside maintaining a high-performing fostering service, you’ll ensure fosterers feel valued, supported, and confident in their role. 

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, plus one in three weekends (with two days off in lieu during the week). 

About you

You’re a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with people from all backgrounds. We’re looking for a friendly, caring Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our close knit team at our Hammersmith Animal Hospital. You’ll be working with a group of dedicated and talented veterinary professionals who genuinely support one another, delivering excellent care to a wide variety of small animals. From routine nursing to emergency work, no two days are the same and there are plenty of opportunities to build confidence, develop new skills and grow in your role.

More about the role

Blue Cross animal hospitals and pet care clinics provide veterinary treatment to sick and injured pets when their owners can’t afford private veterinary fees. Our vet care is available to pets whose owners receive certain means-tested benefits and live within the catchment area of one of our animal hospitals or pet care clinics.   

Our Hammersmith hospital is a compact, quirky site with lots of character which first opened in 1922; we’re very proud of its history. Despite its size, it’s well equipped with digital and dental x-ray, ultrasound and a mini-lab for in-house testing and microscopy, which we actively encourage nurses to get involved to develop these skills. We have separate dog and cat wards, a dedicated room for euthanasia to ensure privacy and dignity and a designated reception team so clinical staff can stay focused on patient care.

You’ll be joining a small, welcoming team where communication really matters. We start each day with short, informal mini-meetings to share updates and we hold monthly whole-team meetings where everyone’s voice is encouraged. We use award-winning clinical guidelines to support practical, evidence-based decision-making, always putting patient welfare first and we value open conversations and shared learning in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
 

We also understand the emotional demands of veterinary work and the importance of looking after each other. Wellbeing champions and Mental Health First Aiders are based at all our hospitals, helping to create a culture where people feel supported, listened to and able to be themselves. 
 

Working hours

This is a full-time, fixed term contract role for 12 months, offering a good work–life balance, with weekday hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm. You’ll work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break. About you

As a Veterinary Nurse, you will be confident and capable in delivering excellent nursing care for a range of small animals, providing both emergency and routine healthcare. Our Veterinary Nurses work alongside Veterinary Surgeons to promote animal health and welfare through responsible ownership and play a key role in the education of pet owners.  
 

The ability to work as part of a team and effective communication skills are really important, often you will be the first point of our clients, forming strong bonds with them to ensure improved animal health and welfare.

We’d love to hear from applicants who bring a passion for supporting and developing student veterinary nurses, ideally with some experience of coaching, mentoring or assessing in practice. A good understanding of RCVS training standards and an interest in education, wellbeing and inclusive learning would be a real advantage.

This role will lead and manage the Trust’s Landscapes Recovery team, working alongside the Rivers Recovery Manager, and a range of external partners to develop new funding mechanisms and facilitate delivery of nature recovery schemes at scale across Hertfordshire & Middlesex.
