This is a full-time, fixed-term role to provide maternity cover. The post is currently home-based, with plans to move to a hybrid working arrangement in the near future, with an office base centrally located within Lancashire. Regular travel across Lancashire may be required.

About the Role

As an Operations Manager, you will lead and manage the delivery of victim services supporting children and young people. You will ensure the provision of high-quality services and compliance with contractual and organisational standards as well as supporting the Area Manager to identify opportunities for service development.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

• Manage and monitor service performance against KPIs and business plans.
• Lead and support your team through effective recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key external partners and stakeholders.
• Analyse data and produce reports to inform service improvements.
• Support strategic projects and represent Victim Support externally as required.

This role includes an additional £2,000 allowance for managing multiple service types or specialist services with distinct funding streams.

Role Overview

During the nine month contract, you’ll be responsible for project-managing the roll-out of our refreshed brand across all channels, event and audiences. You’ll bring your brand design and expertise to projects to ensure high quality brand implementation, acting as a brand guardian and increasing brand capability amongst our staff.   

About You

We’re looking for people who can learn fast and have brand and design skill gained at a charity. You’ll need solid marketing experience and a flair for writing for different audiences. You’re a strong project manager with and leadership skills and you’ll ideally have experience of delivering complex brand projects. Prior experience of working in the health sector would be a bonus.

Our Location

Our head office is in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. This is a hybrid role with plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings. Job Title: Partnerships Officer

Overall job purpose

The post-holder will play a key role within the Initiatives and Partnerships team, working with regional teams to develop and implement proposals to expand use of historic churches in our existing estate and, on occasion, working with other heritage and community groups to deliver their own projects via consultancy or partnership work.

They will manage a programme of work that will include a number of site-specific projects and national initiatives across multiple sites, as well as from time to time working with third parties on partnership or consultancy projects.

The Partnerships Officer will support regional teams and communities to scope and develop projects, supporting feasibility, options and project development work as well as business planning, project management and funding. The post-holder will also work closely with colleagues in conservation and regional teams to make sure that impacts on both areas are fully considered, whilst in tandem seeking to maximise opportunities to expand and increase commercial activity, income and ultimately profitability.

Purpose of role

The Business Development Manager will lead our efforts to secure high-profile, high-value partnerships with corporate organisations  that will generate vital income for children's palliative care. Reporting to the Associate Director of Fundraising, the Corporate Fundraising Manager will lead on the development and delivery of an ambitious strategy to grow corporate fundraising income for The National Brain Appeal. The role will have a particular focus on securing new business, identifying and cultivating relationships with major corporate partners, and building a strong pipeline of opportunities.

Working closely with colleagues across the philanthropy team, the postholder will develop compelling funding propositions, approach prospective partners, and negotiate and secure significant corporate partnerships. This is a senior role within the team requiring a proactive and strategic individual with a strong track record in new business development, and the confidence to engage senior stakeholders both internally and externally.

Rostering & Workforce Optimisation Manager

• Salary: £50,000 per annum

About the role

The Rostering & Workforce Optimisation Manager role at Affinity Trust is a high-impact role with a clear purpose: to improve rostering quality, strengthen cover planning and reduce avoidable agency use.

You’ll work with Support Managers, Operations Managers and senior leaders to spot where things are not working as well as they should, understand why, and put practical improvement plans in place. That might mean identifying patterns in sickness and annual leave cover, highlighting gaps between commissioned and rostered hours, improving the way rosters are reviewed, or helping managers use the rostering system more consistently and meaningfully.

You’ll set clear minimum rostering standards, lead a regular governance and review rhythm for priority locations, and create repeatable insight packs that help operational leaders make better decisions. You’ll also act as the business owner for our rostering system, SONA, helping to shape priorities, improve reporting and support meaningful use across the organisation.

What success looks like

Success in this role means priority locations are meeting minimum rostering standards, managers are planning cover more effectively, last-minute changes and preventable gaps are reducing, and agency reliance is falling for the right reasons.

It also means leaders have better insight, decision-making becomes more consistent, and our rostering system is being used in a way that supports quality, continuity and good operational control.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is analytical, practical and confident working with people at different levels of the organisation.

You will ideally bring:

• Experience of improving rostering, workforce deployment or operational performance in a multi-site environment
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into practical action
• Confidence using systems, spreadsheets and management information
• The ability to influence, support and challenge managers constructively
• Experience of identifying root causes and delivering sustained improvement
• Experience of working across functions to solve problems and remove blockers
• A clear understanding of how staffing, cover planning and roster quality affect continuity, quality and cost.

Experience in health and social care would be particularly valuable, especially within learning disability, autism or children and young people’s services. Knowledge of SONA or similar rostering systems would also be helpful.

Context of Job

AFK is a national charity helping young disabled people develop their independence and find employment.  As part of this we provide bespoke travel training on London’s public transport network to and from school, college and work placements in the North London area.

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible candidates to train and support young people to travel specified journeys safely and independently using public transport.

Overall Job Purpose

To train and support a young person to travel a specified journey safely and independently using public transport.  Record your observations and give feedback to the travel training coordinator, the young person and their family.  To take part in reviews of training as it progresses.

Working Conditions

• Casual working assignment with no minimum hours guaranteed

• Each assignment must be mutually agreed by both parties

• You will be expected to work mornings and/or evenings as required by the job and we will also consider job sharing for this role.

Responsibilities

• Support a young person door-to-door as they travel on public transport.
• Familiarise yourself with the following documents –

1. Journey Plan – describes the route you and the trainee will follow, and the alternative route(s) if the need arises. 
2. Risk Assessment – outlines the support needs of the trainee, and risks and strategies to mitigate them.

• Record your observations using standardised forms and relay your observations to the travel training coordinator on a weekly basis.
• Allow the young person to learn independently and only guide, support or intervene when necessary (this will be included in your induction)
• Approach travel training in a positive manner by reinforcing achievements and viewing obstacles as opportunities to learn.  Discuss strategies and agree solutions with the young person, their family and the travel training coordinator.
• To contact the travel training coordinator immediately if there are any emergencies or unexpected situations.
• Ensure that the young person is trained to use the alternative route safely and independently.
• Ensure that the young person learns and/or knows how to contact parents or carers in case of an emergency
• Any issues or concerns must be raised with the travel training coordinator or the business development manager.

Additional Responsibilities

• Learn the support needs of the young person prior to training
• Become familiar with the route
• Become familiar with and then follow AFK’s safeguarding policies and procedures
