We are seeking an experienced and successful corporate fundraising professional to join our Development Team as Corporate Partnerships Manager, Strategic Accounts (maternity cover). You will be responsible for building relationships with and working with some of the leading companies in the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you manage an existing portfolio of partners and deliverables, inclusive of our high value Corporate Members, whilst developing new engagement opportunities with existing and potentially new partners. You will have a good track record in fundraising from companies and delivering partnership activities, successfully retaining and developing relationships with companies. You will understand strategic account management, fundraising techniques, the motivations for corporate involvement in charity partnerships, sound analytical skills, a highly professional approach and experience of achieving financial and activity targets.  The ability to work collaboratively across teams is essential, and you will ideally have experience of line-management and of working in a large and complex organisation. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to prioritise tasks and work calmly under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring an established Deputy Manager looking to progress and utilise their own skills and experience to make meaningful change. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a cluster of services and teams. Our services support homeless adults with complex and enduring needs. We are looking for a motivated, energetic and dynamic professional who is passionate about providing exceptional support to residents and team members.

You will have overall responsibility of your service and team, aiming to deliver a high quality, trauma informed service to your residents. Your role is to ensure full contract and regulatory compliance whilst being a role model/leader for your team to achieve KPI's and other requirements as per the service needs.

Shift/Working pattern: 37.5 hours a week in service Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, you may also be required to work outside these hours as per the service requirements and needs. You will also take part in our on call service. You will be based across various services covering the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) area.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management and Leadership

• Provide high quality support, leadership and line management to staff, offer guidance, support, and advice to the team and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
• Provide leadership and management throughout the full employee lifecycle.
• Hold regular one to ones and team meetings to support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed.
• Proactively embed a culture of learning, development, reflection, and evaluation in a psychologically informed environment.

Service Delivery

• Support the Service Manager with the overall day-to-day operational delivery of your service, working directly with your team, colleagues, residents and participants, as well as other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the needs of our residents.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support team to carry out their day to day duties and responsibilities, offer guidance and support as necessary. 
• Work proactively alongside the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.

Risk Management

• Follow relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share relevant information with others as necessary.
• Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

Property and Housing Management

• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is clean and maintained to a high standard
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.
• Ensure a provision of high quality housing management service is provided to residents. 

Financial Management

• Support the Service Manager in managing the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.
• Promote effective cost control mechanisms and other financial activities.
• Maintain financial management within the service.

Other

• Some of what else is included: Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development

We’re looking for someone who can seek out and build great partnerships, cultivate and manage large corporate donors whose values align with ours and help raise brand awareness. Someone who can proactively generate new and repeat business, and enjoys networking and building relationships with both corporate sponsors and high net worth donors.

This is a permanent part-time, and yet flexible role, for 3 days a week. We’ll explore the exact hours and timing with you and together find what works.

You’ll help us restore wildlife and marine habitats, improve livelihoods in rural communities, protect against deforestation, alleviate climate anxiety in our young and of course help tackle climate change head on.

Purpose of Role

The Finance Business Partner is the bridge between Finance and the other Directorates we support. The focus of the role is to provide finance expertise to budget holders to help them to understand their financial information and make informed decisions about their areas.

It is someone who truly partners with budget holders, to understand the key drivers, needs and priorities of different areas of the organisation and works with the relevant stakeholders to deliver our ambitious strategic goals.

The role

Support to budget holders:

• Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all areas of the organisation.
• Establish strong relationships with and become the finance point of contact for budget holders with queries.
• Review monthly performance with budget holders and agree any revisions that are needed.
• Provide high quality financial support and training to budget holders on processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
• Implement and maintain strong business processes to support record-keeping, analysis, and good decision-making.

Monthly reporting process:

• Support the Head of Finance with month end process, to include: reconciliation of legacy funding with outsourced support organisation, accruals and prepayments.
• Run and review cost centre reports prior to sharing with budget holders.
• Distribute cost centre reports to budget holders and discuss variances .
• Compile incorrect transactions from budget holders and post correcting journals. Investigate reasons for mispostings and instigate corrective action.
• Produce management accounts and related variance analysis for Executive Leadership Team.

Budget and quarterly forecasts:

• Lead and coordinate the annual budget process, 3-year planning and quarterly reforecasting.
• Produce templates and guidance to support budget holders with budgeting and forecasts.
• Arrange meetings to discuss and support budget holders with completion of templates.
• Work with the Chief of Staff to align the annual budget and business planning processes.

Funder proposals and reports:

• Support Fundraising team and Programme implementation teams with proposals to funders.
• Work with budget holders to develop and maintain list of funding, timelines and reporting requirements.
• Prepare financial reports for external funders.

Ongoing support:

• Work closely with the Fundraising team to improve and strengthen reconciliations, reporting and system links between the CRM system (Salesforce) and the Finance System.
• Develop and deliver training to staff and volunteers on finance processes and understanding financial information.

• Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
• Support Finance process improvement activities.

Finance team tasks:

• Creation of and running reports and transaction queries from SUN systems using Q&A.
• Managing quarterly VAT return process.
• Support annual external audit to include preparation of schedules and financial statements/notes.

Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post holder by the Ramblers.

The person 

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CiPFA or equivalent formal qualification) or in the final stage of qualification.

Knowledge and Experience

• Substantial experience of charity fund accounting (SORP).
• Knowledge & extensive experience of finance systems (SUN systems desirable)
• Knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce desirable).
• Experience of business partnering in the charity sector, working with budget holders to prepare departmental and project budgets and forecasts.
• Experience of communicating complex financial information effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• Substantial experience of producing management accounts and variance analysis.
• Experience of working collaboratively and in partnership with individuals, groups, organisations and stakeholders internally and externally.
• Experience of dealing with charity VAT.

About Us

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.

The role

Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.

About You

You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ your story through your presentation skills. You also need great listening skills so you can build a picture of what each new corporate partner is looking to achieve by signing up to our cause. You have used Microsoft suite products before – including PowerPoint. A driving licence and use of a car is desirable as the role requires regular client visits, some of whom may not be accessible by public transport.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an opportunity for a dedicated person centred Deputy Manager to join the team in Brent. You will be responsible for working alongside the Service Manager (SM) to deliver high quality, trauma-informed services to residents and participants, with a focus on recovery reablement, rehabilitation, and ensuring a psychologically informed environment (PIE). You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of service quality, performance, and improvement across their service(s) through excellent leadership and embodiment of Social Interest Group’s values.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

Synergy, Brent is a Housing Related Support (HRS) Service for a range of vulnerable people who have been or are at risk of homelessness. The age eligibility criteria for the service is adults between the ages of 18 to 60, who are identified to have low/medium support needs. Some of the needs we support are:

• Single homeless between ages of 18 to 60
• Socially excluded individuals
• Ex-Offenders
• People with substance misuse
• Mental Health (Low)
• Learning disability (Low/Medium)
• Women who have come from domestic abuse environments and situations who may need low level support as part of their resettlement following a move on from a refuge or other safe domestic abuse supported accommodation.

LINE MANAGEMENT/LEADERSHIP

• Provide leadership to employees throughout the employee life cycle. This includes but is not limited to; Recruitment, onboarding, inductions, probation reviews, support and supervision, employee relations, performance, learning and development, staff wellbeing and support, grievances, sickness, disciplinaries, retention and other areas which fall within the employee lifecycle.

SERVICE DELIVERY

• Support the Service Manager with the day-to-day operational delivery of the service and work directly with colleagues, residents, participants, and other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the presenting needs of all relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• In conjunction with the Service Manager, facilitate a program of continuous improvement in an environment where residents and participants are cared for, supported, and have access to resources they need to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.

RISK MANAGEMENT, INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND CASE RECORDING

• Follow the relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share any relevant information with partner agencies as appropriate.
• Ensure all case recording, and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring electronic records are protected in line with GDPR, and kept up to date and written to a high standard.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

PROPERTY AND HOUSING MANAGEMENT

• Create and manage a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents and participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is maintained to a high standard, in line with SIG’s property standards and meets all legal and statutory health and fire safety requirements to operate safely, effectively, and efficiently.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

• Provide support in setting the service’s budget and reviewing monthly management accounts; manage set budgets effectively and ensure resources are maximized.
• Maintain financial management within the service, including but not limited to, invoice management, arrears management, management of petty cash, and expense claims.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contract Management and Internal Auditing; Ensure due diligence is carried out and records are well maintained.
• Administration duties will vary, including operating online systems and ensuring correct processes are followed alongside GDPR and confidentiality.
• Other duties may include but are not limited to, maintaining clean and tidy environments, removing rubbish, ordering supplies, arranging in house events and activities and other general on-site duties.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with mental health issues, addiction, exploitation, homelessness and within the criminal justice system
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Ability to follow organisational policies and process in line with external governance

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development
• Understanding, knowledge, and/or practical application of key legislation – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Social Care, and Housing, and Health, Safety and Environment
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

The Corporate Partnerships Manager for our Fundraising team will focus and lead on:

• Managing your own portfolio of corporate partnerships
• Supporting the growth of our consultancy work stream
• Developing new corporate fundraising products and events

You will: 

• Account manage and build strong relationships with a portfolio of Corporate Partners with current value of four and five figures
• Manage a range of consultancy relationships from initial enquiry to project completion, working with colleagues across the charity

• Manage incoming corporate enquiries, using your knowledge and experience to identify key opportunities
