Job description

North Bristol NHS Trust is a large and modern hospital which has just under 1,000 beds and employs more than 8,000 staff and is playing a pivotal role locally in our fight against Coronavirus. 

Each year we see almost 100,000 A&E attendances, perform close to 40,000 operations and conduct more than 500,000 outpatient appointments.

We are a regional centre for Trauma and other specialities and host Severn Pathology Network. Our Genomics Laboratory Hub will be at the centre of developing the new Genomics Medicine Service across the South West of England. Our most recent CQC inspection rated the hospital as Good overall and Outstanding for the well led domain. 

The role

We are currently looking to recruit experienced, professional and motivated Finance Business Partners to join Clinical Divisional Teams and provide the professional finance and commercial support to these clinical divisions that are all larger than £100m turnover.

As a core member of the Divisional Management Board, this post is an integral part of the Trust’s Divisional Senior Management Team and will provide a senior leadership role while leading on all aspects of financial and commercial management within available budget to ensure best patient care is delivered.

Reporting to the Divisional Operations Director, with professional accountability to the Director of Operational Finance, you will work closely with the wider senior finance team and divisional management team providing and developing timely and accurate financial management information.

You will be expected to influence and shape all financial decisions in the Division in order to deliver efficient and effective working practices, maximise business opportunities and ultimately support the division in delivering an excellent patience experience.

The post holder will also be expected to use high level technical, analytical, presentational, interpersonal and negotiating skills to develop excellent working relationships with a range of internal and external senior managers across the organisation.

About you

To succeed in this role at NBT you will:

  • Be a qualified Accountant with substantial financial management experience in a medium to large and complex organisation.
  • Have experience of working with Operational teams in the development of a detailed understanding of the operation, Cost Improvement Plans and Business Cases (both capital and revenue)
  • Have excellent understanding of management accounting, budget setting, financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience in working with operational teams and other corporate functions to deliver a mature rounded service
