Overview of the Regional Coordinator role and the team

The Regional Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Barnabas Aid by building and nurturing relationships with churches, Christian organisations, and individuals. The role aims to raise awareness, prayer, and financial support for the persecuted church, fostering a network of engaged supporters and expanding the organisation’s outreach.

At London City Mission, we want to see Jesus Christ known in every community across London. To do this we develop partnerships with churches, often in communities where people are least likely to hear the gospel. Our teams aim to help churches develop greater confidence and effectiveness in their mission to reach their own local communities. We are now looking for a number of Mission Associates to join us to be involved in this vital work, and to help mission happen through local churches in our diverse city. We will train, develop and support you to help you build on what you already bring, so that you can be the best you can be in your role, and to help you develop further your own missional skills and experience.

This city is home to people whose everyday experience can be one of rejection and helplessness or who come from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds where they have no friend who can share the gospel or take them to church. Our vision is to see both churches and individuals equipped and empowered to reach the communities around them. This means equipping and mobilising churches to be more intentional and effective in their mission.

London City Mission is recruiting to a number of mission outreach roles based in various locations across London. In the Mission Associate role, you will work as part of our teams to:

• Collaborate with and equip churches in evangelism to those who are marginalised or least likely to hear the gospel in their local area
• Contribute to the development of sustainable, structured, innovative missional teams in local churches
• Do mission research and mapping of the mission needs and opportunities in a local area
• Contribute to networking with churches in a local area by, for example, building a list of churches and connecting them with the right LCM colleagues with a view to mission partnership.

The roles we are looking to fill will involve ministering in the following locations:

• Mission Associate, shared between our teams in Hounslow & Ealing and Harrow & North Brent with a focus on reaching South Asian communities through our Islam and Other Religions specialism, with a particular focus on people from Hindu and Sikh backgrounds
• Mission Associate in Islington with a focus on Council Estates and Seniors*
• Mission Associate in South London with a focus on Council Estates and Seniors*
• Mission Associate in Barking & Dagenham and Havering with a focus on Homeless and Marginalised ministries
• Mission Associate in Croydon with a focus on Homeless and Marginalised ministries
• Mission Associate in Lewisham with a focus on Islam and Other Religions specialism.

You would be joining LCM at an exciting time as we take forward our new five-year strategy. Our aim over the next five years is to see 150 new missional teams established in churches across London. These missional teams are groups of church members who “own” outreach to a particular group, are recognised by the leadership, and pray for each other, using their varied gifts regularly to minister to that group. We pray that, together by 2029, these teams will be part of 25,000 gospel conversations within communities where Jesus Christ isn't known.

Our Mission Associates are wholly committed followers of Jesus who bring their passion and skills to contribute to the work of our teams, helping to research the mission needs of an area, supporting networking with churches, helping to train and equip church volunteers in practical evangelism, or helping churches develop their mission work. Successful candidates will be able to prove their ability to contribute to our field teams in these ways. Our professional and established internal training team and your line manager and others, will train, develop and support you in your role so that you develop your own missional skills and evangelism experience.

This role is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for two years.

Salary: £28,808 per annum.

The Missionary role is, therefore, a Church mobilisation role.

We are seeking candidates for Missionary roles who have a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus with specific groups of Londoners, and who can also come alongside churches to train and inspire Christian believers to reach their local communities with the hope of the gospel.

Successful candidates will minister in – but not restricted to - the following locations:  

• Tower Hamlets team with a specialist focus on Islam & Other Religions* 

• Barking & Dagenham and Havering team with a specialist focus on Children, Youth and Schools

The successful applicants will have experience of outreach amongst the neediest groups in our society but will also understand the church landscape in London and be able to inspire those in London churches to get involved in outreach. They will work in missional teams to equip church volunteers for outreach where the most need is in their communities, drawing upon their particular experience when required. They will also need to be able to raise ministry personal support, including a target financial support as well as prayer supporters for the work of the Mission through personal and church partnership networks.

We will help train, develop and support you in your role through our professional and established Training team and your line manager and other colleagues. Our heart is to help you be the best that you can be in your role and to help you develop further in your missional and evangelism skills.

This position is a full-time, permanent appointment. Starting salary is £22,045 per annum plus £1,200 per month housing allowance (taxable). Mission housing will be discussed with successful candidates after probation. We also provide a generous employer contribution to a group pension scheme. Targets for personal financial support will be £9,500 for the year 2025.

The Role

The key purpose of this role is to work as a “right hand” to the Associate Vicar, as an Executive Assistant and lead of key projects. Listed below are the key elements that the role holder will be doing:

Email, Diary Management & General Administration

• Drafting high volume of emails, correspondence, enquiries, managing the email inbox and ensuring that replies and responses are timely and appropriate
• Oversee diary of AV and manage key dates and appointments in church cycle, book and set-up appointments, coordinate meetings, set-up Zoom links, include briefing notes for AV and coordinate all relevant information for meetings

Sunday Services

Budget, Strategy & Governance

• Assist AV with budget and strategy and annual salary review process for all HTB staff and also help with HR and recruitment issues where necessary
• Assist AV with strategy documents for HTB and the annual strategy process to ensure all HTB ministry departments aligned with overall goals and objectives for HTB set by the vicar
• Ensure accountability and clear communications with HTB Department Heads for all ministry areas and drafting of internal comms for internal HTB staff team

PCC & wider Church of England

• Assist with drafting PCC reports and documents for HTB where needed working closely with the Group COO’s office
• Support AV with communications with Chelsea Area Deanery, Kensington Area Council and all wider Church of England matters and requests (Diocese of London, Archdeacons, Legal Agreements, etc)
• Help HTB to ensure it is compliant with all C of E requirements and maintains good working relationships with the Diocese of London
• Support AV to ensure that all safeguarding matters/requirements fulfilled and clear communication with Safeguarding Officer
• Assist AV with managing matters relating to HTB’s accessibility matters (i.e. disability and special needs), sustainability policy and approaches, recruitment and staff policies, etc.

Project Management

• Support AV with any special projects or assignments as needed – i.e. School of Preaching Course, special Alpha projects, Electoral Roll, crisis management, projects for the PCC, key events, donor comms, fundraising and stewardship, racial diversity working group matters, research assignments, etc.

This role within a team of 13 developers will allow you to use your strong technical experience to serve people living in poverty in more than 50 countries around the world through providing effective applications for  the design, monitoring & evaluation of our front-line projects and for our finance staff. 

This is a key time for the team as we start the migration of our project design, monitoring & evaluation application to Angular. In this post you will work alongside our other Angular developers, sharing their expertise and building an application which will enable our staff and local church partners around the world to demonstrate the amazing impact of our work in the communities we work with.

The team is also crucial to our finance staff, being responsible for the development and support of an Angular application which is critical for finance data entry across the countries we work in. We are keen to leverage AI to increase productivity in this area so experience in working with AI technologies, or an interest in learning, would be an advantage.

Although not essential, experience of Power BI would also be useful as we extend our reporting suite, using our SQL Server data warehouse to demonstrate the impact of our work and provide vital financial information to staff across Tearfund. Big Green Heart is looking for a trainer to help expand our practitioner base. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with teaching experience to use their professional skills in the charity sector in the vitally important area of mental health. Accredited practitioners may charge for their own practice, working with individuals or in partnership with schools, churches, and community projects. They will practice under license from Big Green Heart. 

The role of the trainer is to teach and train practitioners in the methodology of Big Green Heart and to bring individuals through to accreditation. This will be done regionally and online.

It is hoped that the trainer will continue to oversee the developing work of the practitioners in a mentoring role, either individually or in groups, whether in person or online. This will be an evolving role developed in partnership with the Founder/CEO. 

Key information

FT / PT: Part time

Salary: £30,000 - £35000/ year, pro rata depending on experience

Hours: Circa 16 hours per week; the hours will be flexible and may include evenings and weekends

Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata

Location: Remote and flexible. Please note, the charity is based in North Yorkshire and some face-to-face meetings will be required at our office. Training will take place around the country. So far this year, we have hosted workshops all over the UK, from Sussex to the Isle of Skye. Travel will be required, as will the ability to train online. All travel expenses will be covered.

The Organisation

Methodist Ministers’ Housing Society (MMHS) provides quality housing and associated services for Methodist Church ministers and their spouses/partners. They currently support around 650 ministerial households across the UK, Isle of Man, and Channel Islands. MMHS has generated income mainly through rents from ministerial residents and market tenants, and investments. In their last financial year, total income was £5.7 million and total funds were £187.8m. The market rented portfolio is being sold and the proceeds of sale are being reinvested. The Job Role

As the Director of Finance, ICT and Investments, you will play a pivotal role in shaping MMHS’s financial strategy to support its strategic objectives and enable sound decision-making. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will have a strategic mindset, with the ability to provide insights to your senior colleagues, and you will provide advice and guidance to the board of trustees, becoming a trusted partner. You will develop and deliver financial plans, oversee financial systems to ensure robust control and compliance, and lead key financial activities such as monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, projections, and annual audits. Additionally, you will identify financial challenges and opportunities, develop approaches to address them, and lead and motivate your small team to cultivate a high-performing culture.

In ICT, you will implement MMHS’s strategy effectively, leading transformation projects to modernise and improve technology infrastructure and processes. You will oversee cloud migration, drive data-driven decision-making by leveraging AI and automation, implement plans to support outsourcing, and ensure robust cybersecurity and disaster recovery planning. You will also manage relationships with MMHS’s external support and services provider.

With investments, you will implement MMHS’s strategy, working closely with investment managers and third-party experts to align MMHS’s portfolio with strategic objectives, providing guidance to senior colleagues and the board.
 

The Person

This is a key post for the organisation, and they are looking for someone who can provide a long-term view while being ‘hands-on’ with day-to-day operations. You will be a fully qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent) with significant experience in a leadership role. Experience or a desire to quickly upskill in investments is a distinct advantage. You will have the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels. You will be someone who embraces change and continuous improvement. You will also be a team-player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
