With funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, our Roots to Wellbeing programme supports people struggling with their mental health to build confidence, connection and resilience through nature-based group sessions.

About Roots to Wellbeing

Roots to Wellbeing is our Green Social Prescribing programme. We run 18-week rolling programmes in parks, supporting people who are experiencing poor mental health or finding life challenging. Participants take part in activities rooted in the University of Derby’s 5 pathways to nature connection, including nature walks, mindfulness, creative practice and practical conservation work

This role is about more than running sessions. It is about building trust, creating safety, and helping people who may never have felt parks were “for them” to develop a meaningful relationship with nature and community.

The role

You will:

• Build and maintain strong referral partnerships

• Triage referrals and ensure sessions are accessible and inclusive

• Plan and deliver weekly nature-based wellbeing sessions

• Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting

• Work in parks across Bristol and Bath

This is a practical, people-facing role. You will be outdoors in all seasons and confident facilitating groups with complex needs.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has at least two years’ experience working directly with people with mental health and complex needs

• Has delivered group-based nature or eco-therapy activities

• Understands green social prescribing

• Can build strong, trusting relationships with participants and partners

• Is organised, emotionally intelligent and solutions focused

A qualification in mental health and line management experience are desirable. An Enhanced DBS is required

Introduction

Afield is a brand new charity responding to environmental injustice. We do this by working with communities to rewild disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods; and by supporting artists to undertake ecological research. This exciting and demanding role will be right at the heart of making everything happen!

Objectives

You will work alongside Afield’s two co-founders to define and run the urban wilding and arts grants programmes, including managing the cohort of grantees. We are looking for dynamism, energy and experience of grant management to help us launch the first round of grants and a support programme.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the two co-founders you will set up the arts research and wilding programmes. This will include launching and running opencall and selection processes, and the cohort support programmes. Once established you will lead subsequent programmes, and plan for future cohorts. You will be:

• Feeding into the design of the arts & wilding programmes

• Taking responsibility for, and running, the arts grants grants and wilding programme (including involvement in the selection of grantees, continual learning and evaluation)

• Liaising with partners on programme delivery (eg. local councils for wilding)

• Managing selectors and mentors, supporting peer learning, and organising workshops for both programmes

• Taking responsibility for managing the cohorts

• Working with a second team member (to be recruited) to promote the programme

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is: 

• Empathetic, has a positive attitude and a desire to help our grantees

• Energetic with a can-do, self-sufficient attitude, and with the ability to independently manage a busy workload, multiple deadlines and priorities

• Confident in their ability whilst self-aware and committed to ongoing development

• Interested (and perhaps experienced) in nature, ecology or the environment

We would also like to work with someone who has:

• Experience of running a grants or funded cohort programme (ideally in either arts grants or a pioneer-style programme)

• Ability and comfort in creating structure out of ambiguity; identifying challenges and opportunities; and expressing clear proposals for change

• Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written

• Good analytical and project management skills, and strong competency in setting up and using technology such as an application management platform

• Experience of line management or managing contractors. This is not essential, as there will not initially be full line management responsibility, but would be a benefit.

Compensation and benefits

• 4 days per week role, for which the salary is £34,500 (FTE: £43,000)

• 21 company holiday days (increasing with the length of service) in addition to 8 bank holidays plus discretionary Christmas closure days each year

Assistant Director of Operations
Salary: £72,000 per annum
Work Pattern: This is a permanent contract, working full time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week.
Location: Your base can be at any of the 6 mainland UK Discovery Sites: Arundel BN18, Llanelli SA14, London SW13, Martin Mere L40, Slimbridge GL2 or Washington NE38. The 7th site is Castle Espie.
For this role we can offer the opportunity for hybrid working. It is expected the role will need you to be present at each of your sites on a regular basis, at least once per month.

About The Role

WWT is the charity for wetlands.

This is a critical role in the recently restructured Operations Directorate at WWT. As Assistant Director, you will be directly responsible for the performance of our 7 Wetland Discovery sites. You will provide inspiring and professional leadership to your teams, whilst proactively collaborating cross organisation and externally.

Your focus will be on driving meaningful improvements at sites across our three ambitions of Restore, Inspire and Thrive, with emphasis on financial performance driven by visitor experiences. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will directly manage two Heads of Operations, a Head of Retail and Head of Catering. You will indirectly lead more than 400 staff and volunteers across Living Collections, Reserve Management, Visitor Experience, Trading, Marketing, Facilities and Grounds.

You will work closely with Health & Safety and Sustainability leads to ensure good governance and compliance at sites and across the Operations Directorate.

You will have a background working in visitor attractions or a very similar sector, coupled with a passion for purpose-led organisations and a keen interest in the environment. You will be an inspiring leader with high levels of emotional intelligence and values & behaviours that align with WWT.

About You

To join as our Assistant Director of Operations, you will need to evidence:

• Experience in a senior position(s) held in the visitor attraction/events management sectors, directly accountable for site operations and visitor experience throughout the visitor journey.
• Strong skills in leading business planning, financial analysis, budget development and management, and delivery of significant capital projects across £multi-million business unit(s).
• Demonstrable ability to recruit, performance manage and motivate large (>100) diverse multi-disciplinary teams.

About The Role

Caerlaverock is a stunning nature reserve situated on the north Solway coast. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Engagement Officer with marketing skills to join our small team.

Inspired by working on one of the best nature reserves in Scotland, you will use your creative marketing skills and knowledge to give Caerlaverock a face and a voice so raising the profile of this wonderful site. You will work with a team of volunteers at our visitor hub to support the admissions to the site and provide interesting and creative interpretation to enhance the visitor experience.

About You

To join us as Engagement Officer you will have:

• Experience to deliver relevant and vibrant digital output for the Centre to include Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to maximise coverage for WWT.

About the role

We’re excited to be recruiting an Accounts Payable Specialist to join WWF-UK’s Accounts Payable team within Accounting Operations. This role plays an important part in ensuring our financial processes run smoothly, supporting timely and accurate payments and helping colleagues and partners work effectively within our systems.

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, you will work closely with Treasury colleagues and teams across WWF-UK, supporting the end-to-end processing of supplier invoices, grant payments and expenses. You will help manage a high-volume purchase ledger, respond to queries from colleagues and suppliers, and support the effective use of our purchase-to-pay and expenses systems. Skills and experience                                                                                                                                                            You’ll bring the following skills and experience to succeed in this role:
