Charity Finance Group (CFG) is seeking a visionary Finance, FJ and Operations Director to drive innovation, collaboration and excellence across our organisation and the wider charity sector. About the role
As Finance, FJ and Operations Director, you’ll work closely with our two Co-CEOs to deliver CFG’s mission: championing financial sustainability for charities. You’ll lead the strategic and operational delivery of our Finance Journey framework—a bold, sector-defining initiative that transforms finance professionals from technicians into strategic leaders.
This role blends internal leadership with external influence. You’ll oversee key functions including finance and governance, HR, digital/IT and business development,—ensuring CFG’s internal systems and external offerings are aligned with our strategy, values, and member needs.

CFG promotes remote-first working, although we do have office space at our registered address in Bermondsey, Southwark, SE London for those team members who prefer an office setting. What the job involves
Our Events and Community Fundraising team raises vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK through a wide range of activities, events and challenges. Alongside our own flagship events, we recruit teams for some of the UK’s best-loved sporting events, including the TCS London Marathon, Great North Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The team also organise our flagship walking event, March for Men, and our Tour de France themed cycling event, the Grand Depart Classic.
As Senior Sporting Events Executive, you’ll take the operational lead in delivering income across our third-party events programme, alongside project managing our team of London Marathon runners. You’ll manage at least one Events and Community Coordinator, supporting their development and ensuring the team delivers outstanding supporter care at every stage. You’ll also play a key role in spotting and developing new opportunities within the charity events market.
This is a hands-on role covering every aspect of event delivery; from leading project meetings, setting budgets and developing marketing plans, to crafting supporter communications, managing logistics and providing on-the-day event support. You’ll also oversee post-event processes such as remittance and thanking supporters, ensuring we maximise income and provide a first-class experience for every participant. Working closely with teams across the charity, you’ll help deliver a packed calendar of events and take the lead in coordinating our brilliant volunteers on event days.

You’ll bring experience of working within a sporting events team, with a track record of supporting the delivery of large-scale events; from marketing and communications right through to event-day execution. About this role

What’s your mission?
In this role you will embody Ada’s culture, being responsible for the wellbeing of the staff and attracting new talent as well as providing effective leadership and line management of the People function. Reporting directly into the CEO, you will act as a trusted, strategic partner, ensuring alignment on both organisation and people capabilities, fostering a culture of high performance and growth. You will be responsible for leading the People and Talent team across our London and Manchester campuses, and ensuring relevant processes are followed as well as driving forward people management priorities and initiatives. This is a hands-on operational role that will also stretch your strategic thinking and planning skills. The role is expected to evolve in seniority as you build out the team underneath you in line with the College’s planned growth in learner volumes and staff headcount. The postholder will be expected to make regular visits to the college’s campus in Manchester/London.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
● Management -
○ Partner the Executive Leadership Team to lead on the implementation of Ada’s people management strategy as part of our new organisational strategy.
○ You will set clear priorities and focus areas for the People team, effectively managing performance, and supporting development.
○ Provide effective day-to-day support for the Executive Leadership Team and line managers to ensure the College runs smoothly, is attracting ever an ever better quality of candidates for vacant roles and is HR compliant at all times.
○ Design and implement initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and retention, promoting a positive and inclusive culture for Ada.
● Building our Employer Brand -

● Systems & Processes -
○ Provide support on change management programmes including restructures, ensuring change processes are implemented smoothly and risks are identified and mitigated in a timely manner.
○ Drive adoption of the recently implemented HR platform (i.e. AccessHR). Ensure all staff adhere to the agreed processes including performance management.
Plans are to effectively link performance management to reward and recognition.
○ Proactively review existing processes and identify areas to introduce efficiencies.

Key Skills and experience required
- A minimum of 4 years previous People/HR generalist and partnering experience preferably with some experience of working in schools, colleges, universities, training providers or education management organisations.
- Level 7 CIPD qualified, or similar experience is essential Demonstrable experience of improving talent attraction, selection and development
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of UK employment law and experience in handling complex ER cases, Employment Tribunals, ACAS Conciliations and Settlements.
- Demonstrable experience of working with leaders on complex people related issues.
- High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
- Evidence of delivering HR solutions, including strategic HR initiatives and change projects.
