The Amber Foundation offers supported accommodation to homeless, unemployed and disadvantaged young people (aged 18 to 30) who are facing multiple disadvantage including lack of training, education and employment, addiction and substance misuse problems, mental health difficulties and may have been involved in crime and offending behaviour.
This role is based in Ockley, Surrey, RH5 5NG

We are looking to recruit a Senior Team Leader to assist the Service Manager in overseeing the operational running and leadership and management of our staff team at our residential centre (Farm Place) in Surrey.
The role of the Senior Team Leader is to work proactively, creatively and effectively alongside the Service Manager and our staff team and young people to develop their skills and strengths to help them gain the confidence they need to live independent and fulfilling lives.
This is a Deputy Manager role, you will be expected to effectively lead, motivate and inspire the staff team to facilitate a high quality programme for our young people and be committed to excellent outcomes for young people. You will also undertake housing and facilities management and health and safety-related tasks as required.
It is Amber’s responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people within its services. All applicants will need to evidence their suitability to work with young people.
Key tasks, responsibilities and outcomes
To have a great knowledge and understanding of the services for which you are accountable, and to ensure the implementation of better practice initiatives.
To assist the Service Manager in the effective leadership and management of the staff team, ensuring that staff are listened to and valued.

To ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements ensuring appropriate records are kept and maintained, striving to provide outstanding services to young people.

To assist the Service Manager in ensuring the proper application of Ambers’ policies and procedures
To assist the Service Manager in ensuring the financial sustainability of the centre and budget.
To create new and maintain existing excellent working relationships with our referrers and stakeholders and expand upon these to identify new referral streams and to complete a thorough needs and risk assessment with young people.
To build relationships with external stakeholders and to market and promote Amber in order to achieve maximum occupancy levels within the centre and reach target for funded placements.
To have a professional approach to all work aspects in line with the vision and values of the organisation and maintain all records in line with statutory and local policies and procedures.
To assist the Service Manager to ensure that the centre runs at its targeted occupancy according to the annual budget.
To assist the Service Manager in reaching funded occupancy set out in the annual budget.
To assist the Service Manager in completing a thorough and comprehensive assessment with all potential new residents to assess their suitability and appropriateness for the service.
To ensure that all telephone calls and correspondence to the centre are answered professionally and promptly.
To produce written progress reports to statutory funders and work alongside colleagues on tender applications for new contracts as and when required.
To ensure the smooth transition and induction of all new residents to the centre, you will be required to assist with supervised drug and/or alcohol testing.
To effectively communicate with colleagues, residents and agencies.
To build and maintain open and productive relationships between all parties.
To facilitate regular team meetings and provide clear and concise communications to the staff team at regular intervals.
To ensure that each member of your staff receives one to one supervision in accordance with the supervision policy.
To attend events when required and at times deliver presentations.
To work alongside the Service Manager to complete objectives and achieve targets set for the service.
To undertake relevant training that may fall outside of their normal working pattern and hours.
To maintain high and excellent standards of practice using a person centred approach to support that places the dignity and integrity of the individual resident at the forefront of priorities.
To deputise for the Service Manager in their absence and assume full responsibility for the running of the service.

Report accidents and incidents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Staffing
To assist the Service Manager in the recruitment of new staff in accordance with our Safer Recruitment policy
To provide a thorough and comprehensive induction programme to new staff.
To ensure that sufficient staff are available to deliver high quality services and take responsibility for the staff rota.
Ensure that staff are effectively led and appropriately managed to ensure that excellent performance is recognised and remedial action is taken where performance or conduct falls below expectations.
Alongside the Service Manager, ensure that all staff receive appropriate supervision, appraisals and are actively and positively encouraged to maximise their skills and qualities.
Provide opportunities for staff training and development.
Assist the Service Manager with absence management, monitoring staff performance and handling any disciplinary issues including investigations.
Promote and advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion and ensure that the young people within the centre are managed in line with Amber values and our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
Actively seek out, listen to and engage with staff and young people frequently to address areas of concern and/or improve ways of working.
Quality and Management
Ensure that the centre is well-led and provide strong leadership by enabling, inspiring and motivating staff and residents to generate a culture of creativity and ideas which help shape the future and find new and better ways of working.
Be accountable for the monitoring, assessment and reporting of the quality and outcomes of the services provided.
Work alongside the Service Manager to ensure all services are delivered within budget.
Ensure all incidents, accidents and complaints are recorded in accordance with policies and procedures.
Fundraising
To work effectively with the fundraising team, helping to ensure that they have the information needed to complete effective applications, proposals and reports.
Help facilitate visits of funders to demonstrate the impact of Amber’s work.
To assist the Fundraising Manager in the collection of positive case studies, photographs and news to compliment Amber’s communications work.
Financial
To follow all financial policies and procedures as required and in the absence of the Service Manager.
To assist the Service Manager in ensuring compliance with the centre budget, ensure effective budgeting and budgeting controls are in place.
To support the Service Manager in completing and contribute to the annual budget.
In the absence of the Service Manager, take responsibility for resident related income including housing benefit and resident’s service charge.
In the absence of the Service Manager, take responsibility for petty cash, ensuring this is accurately recorded and controlled.
Experience
Relevant professional or management qualification
Experience in management, preferably in the social care sector.
Experience leading and delivering projects.
Results focused, the ability to work proactively, plan, organise and optimise resources and complete targets within agreed timescales.
Ability to demonstrate effective people management skills through delegating, empowering, motivating and coaching staff.

The important stuff

Key Responsibilities
Spear Programme
- Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
- Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.
Relationship management
- Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
- You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre
Church Community
- The Spear Coach is directly employed by Citizen Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community

Job Summary
- Contract type: Permanent, full-time.

The Charity
Universify exists to create a fairer, more equal society where every young person can fulfil their potential regardless of their background. We equip young people from low socio-economic and underrepresented backgrounds with the skills, knowledge, and belief to fulfil their potential through education.
We work with Year 10-11 students (aged 14-16) to increase their aspirations, improve GCSE attainment and to gain a greater understanding of post-18 pathways, particularly university, to make a more informed decision about their future. We run a year-long programme, starting with a week-long summer residential at partner universities, monthly coaching sessions with Universify coaches and a 3-day GCSE-focused revision residential at Spring.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Programme Manager, you will manage the Programme Team to deliver the charity’s annual residential and coaching programme and impact reporting. You will act as the primary relationship holder for all existing major programme partners, including universities and other third sector organisations. During programme delivery, you will be a part of the team’s Safeguarding Leads and work with the Programme Team to ensure the safety and care of our participants.
You will report to the CEO and work with them to build relationships with new partners, and develop the charity’s ability to expand the programme by considering its impact data, needs of partners and stakeholders, and any changes to its programme model. You will also maintain the charity’s CRM and improve programme efficiency. As the Programme Manager, you will be involved in events, fundraising activities and publicity, including supporting the Comms officer.
Main Duties
- Oversee programme delivery, including line managing the Programme Team (3 staff)
- Manage existing programme partnerships (universities, third sector organisations) and build new relationships alongside the CEO
- Manage and deliver external programmes including the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation partnership programme
- Project manage impact reporting, defining data requirements, overseeing data collection and analysis, and writing the impact report
- Work with the Communications Officer and CEO to enhance the charity’s publicity including social media, in-person events, and publicity campaigns
- Provide expertise as a Level 3 safeguarding lead as part of the safeguarding team
- Maintain the charity CRM (Salesforce) and coordinate with developers to update the CRM

- Secure knowledge and experience of child safeguarding policy and practice. Level 3 Safeguarding Lead qualification or a willingness to obtain this as part of the role
Ideally, candidates would have experience in a few of the following areas:
- Experience managing residential programmes or large-scale events. Experience of designing educational programmes
- Experience working with schools and universities
- Coaching expertise and ability to train coaches

This role is establishing Friends of the Earth’s flagship environmental leadership programme with young people in Belfast and surrounding areas. The programme, People Planet Place, uses community organising methodology to support marginalised young people to develop and deliver their own environmental justice campaigns as a team within their Further Education college or Youth Work setting. This is a new role in Belfast that will work alongside an existing Youth Campaign Coach based in Derry/Londonderry.
This work has been made possible by a four year grant from The National Lottery Community Fund. Enormous thank you to the fund for enabling a new generation of young people in Northern Ireland to campaign to protect our world.
Job purpose:
To deliver Friends of the Earth Northern Ireland’s inclusion programmes with working class, disabled, LGBTQIA+ and racialised young people in Further Education and youth work settings across Northern Ireland, with a focus in the greater Belfast area. This includes:
- Responsibility for direct project delivery in colleges and youth groups;
- Co-delivery with college and youth work staff so they can subsequently run the programme independently; and
- Coordinating a professional network of youth work and environmental organisations to increase access to environmental campaigning opportunities for marginalised young people in Northern Ireland.
The direct delivery involves leading recruitment and induction of small teams of young people followed by support in the form of training, coaching and resources to help them to implement environmental campaigns in their colleges, youth groups and communities.
Projects may vary but the focus will be on supporting 16-25 year olds within Further Education and Youth Work settings to learn about environmental justice and become skilled campaigners. Work will include follow up support for alumni of the programme to continue their campaigning journey.

Regional Youth Worker - London

Location: Flexible, based at our office in Aldgate East, with travel throughout the London region and occasional remote working.

The Challenge
Social mobility in the UK is still far from a reality: disadvantaged pupils are less likely to attend university/ high level apprenticeships, occupy top jobs and improve their standard of living over their parents than their peers. The divide has become even clearer since Covid-19.
The gap between most advantaged and least advantaged pupils’ employment and higher education destinations remains vast - and this leads to real-life consequences. There is still much more to be done.
As an award-winning, fast-moving charity our mission is to support young people from disadvantaged communities to identify and fulfil their potential. Working in partnership with schools, universities, and employers, we deliver academic and pastoral coaching programmes that improve pupils’ confidence, resilience, and independence, as well as their attainment.
With a recently written three-year strategy, and a new Chief Executive, we’re at anexciting stage of development and have ambitious plans to continue improving our im- pact and reach. This academic year, we are planning on supporting over 2,000 pupils across our three regional teams: London, the South East and the West Midlands.
Role description
We are looking for a self-motivated individual to enhance our work across London, where we have very strong existing school and university partnerships.
You will primarily be responsible for delivering our academic coaching programmes to pupils in both Primary and Secondary Schools across your region, and other regions when required. Typically we run programmes between the months of October-December, and February-June, where regular travel to schools in the region will be required.
As a Programme Officer you will also recruit, train and manage volunteers (typically current undergraduates from universities in your region), deliver in-school and online workshops, and contribute to the overall development of the region.
You will be delivering programmes in schools and with volunteers can be challenging, with every day looking a little different from the last. But it is ultimately extremely rewarding! You will flourish in this role if you enjoy thinking quickly, responding to challenges, and using your own initiative to get great outcomes for young people.
One of our core values at CoachBright is that ‘we believe coaching is transformative’. A coaching approach underpins everything we do from our programmes to the way we work with each other. As a result, every team member undertakes training to become an accredited coach, and becomes part of our Lifecycle coaching team, where we provide direct, 1:1 coaching to current university students and junior employees of our corporate partners. Once accredited you will have the opportunity to coach as part of this programme.
Role Description
The London Programme Officer will be responsible for:
Programme coordination and delivery:

Coordinate and run multiple in-school and online programmes (core and peer to peer) across the region and, when required, in other regions.

Set timelines for programme start and finish dates.

Visit schools to oversee programme quality and communicate with school staff weekly to provide feedback after sessions.

Facilitate in-school or digital workshops for groups of pupils (typically KS3-5).

Plan and organise graduation trips to a local university for pupils on the programme.

Coordinate and allocate coaches to school programmes, communicating with them weekly and when needed arranging transport for them to schools.

Contribute to the development of the region by supporting the Head of Region in generating new school leads and securing programmes.

The Opportunity

Role Purpose:
The Regional Change & Deployment Manager is a role sitting within the Change and Deployment Team that has been created to deliver a number of high priority projects implementing new systems and business processes across Save the Children International (SCI)’s 55 country offices.

Why Work for The Difference?
Schooling isn’t working for the children who need it most. Every week in England 109 children – equivalent to three full classrooms – are permanently excluded. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Since the pandemic, school suspensions have risen significantly, as has persistent absenteeism. 1 in 5 children are missing more than 10% of their time in school. Children who are excluded or persistently absent are much more likely to already be experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage. They are more likely to live in poverty, have additional learning needs, suffer mental health challenges, or experience a lack of safety outside school. Certain ethnicities are also disproportionately affected, notably Gypsy Roma Traveller and black Caribbean children.
Exclusion and high rates of absence can have a dramatic effect on life chances. These young people are more likely to drop out of education or employment, become vulnerable to long-term mental ill health, or be at risk of criminal exploitation. The Difference believes that children and young people deserve better and that the education system has to change.
Our Organisation
The Difference is a young education charity, founded to change the story on lost learning. By 2030, we want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable. The Difference was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.
The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to scale this impact through our programmes, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.
The Task Ahead: Programme Lead
In 2019 The Difference launched our programmes working with 22 school leaders in London. Since then we have worked with 447 school leaders nationally. We want to continue to scale our programmes and reach more school leaders to help shape their schools practice and systems to improve pupil wellbeing, safety and belonging. We intend to further develop our programmes to improve inclusion in schools and successfully change the story for students currently struggling in school.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Shop Supervisor to make a difference and deliver positive social impact in the local community while also raising money to fund Crisis’ work ending homelessness.
As a Shop Supervisor, you will support the Shop Manager and Assistant Shop Manager to deliver an outstanding customer experience. You will play a key role in delivering customer service and supporting volunteers, as well maintaining the look and feel of the shop and processing stock. About TASO
The Centre for Transforming Access and Student Outcomes in Higher Education (TASO) is an affiliate What Works Centre, and part of the UK Government’s What Works Movement. Our vision is to eliminate equality gaps in higher education (HE). Our mission is to improve lives through evidence-informed practice.
TASO was set up in 2019 and became an independent charity in April 2021. Our work focuses on the generation, synthesis and dissemination of high-quality evidence about effective practice in widening participation and student outcomes. We primarily focus on developing and disseminating causal evidence.
The Role
The Head of Communications and Engagement will lead TASO’s communications and engagement work plan to raise the profile of the organisation. They will also lead on TASO’s evidence mobilisation work plan, working with the Chief Executive, to ensure TASO’s research and evaluation outputs are effectively disseminated.
This will involve ensuring a strategic approach to all communications activities, leading on the delivery of external-facing materials and publications, overseeing a vibrant social media presence and events programme. The role will have overall responsibility for a website redevelopment project over the next year.

Lead on the design, branding and dissemination of innovative and engaging communications – both print and online, including oversight of the editorial and publication process for all TASO research reports and resources.

Lead on TASO’s evidence mobilisation plan, working with the Chief Executive and Research and Evaluation Team to ensure research outputs are effectively disseminated and achieve impact.

Support the Chief Executive on delivering TASO’s policy aims.
