The Sick Children's Trust is the charity that provides a welcoming 'Home from Home' where families with a sick child in hospital can stay. But we're more than bricks and mortar, our friendly, caring staff are there to support families when they really need it.
Hospital can be a lonely and scary place for anyone, but especially a child. Providing around 3,200 families a year with somewhere to stay together just minutes from the hospital means that they can be by their sick child's side and have one less thing to worry about.
The Role
This is a varied and rewarding fundraising management role, focused on developing and delivering an ambitious community and events fundraising programme that generates sustainable income, increases awareness of our work and builds long-term supporter relationships.
You will lead the development of community fundraising across the UK, supporting and inspiring individuals, families, schools, community groups, volunteers and local businesses to raise funds for the charity. An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Medair UK team as we are seeking a part-time Head of Operations. The post holder will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of Medair UK's finance, HR, IT and governance functions, ensuring robust systems, effective controls, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Scope of the role
You will manage and successfully deliver key events including the London Marathon, Great North Run and London Landmarks Half Marathon, as well as third party and DIY challenge fundraising. You’ll lead on supporter recruitment and stewardship to meet or exceed agreed targets, while keeping budgets, income and performance on track, as well as maintaining accurate supporter data. Position Overview
As Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring financial sustainability across the Trust. Working closely with the CFO, you'll manage capital and revenue budgets, produce financial reports and statements, and lead the Finance Operations team of 4 staff. This position is central to maintaining robust financial controls, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with financial and legal obligations. You'll also build strong relationships with external stakeholders including banks, the DfE, and auditors, while identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency across the Trust.
Responsibilities
· Manage and monitor capital and revenue budgets effectively
· Support the CFO in producing regular finance reports and budget packs
· Prepare financial statements including cash flow, income and balance sheets
· Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset reporting
· Maintain the Key Financial Controls Framework across the Trust
· Conduct fixed asset verifications and stock takes
· Manage financial risk and ensure compliance with regulations
· Build and maintain relationships with banks, DfE, auditors and stakeholders
· Organise and follow up on internal and external audits
· Lead, develop and manage the Finance Operations team (4 staff)

The prospect research manager will be responsible for defining, implementing and delivering the prospect research strategy, and will lead the prospect research team and line manage two part-time prospect research officers and a part-time prospect research assistant. They will also play a leading role in fundraising data processes within the team and further developing the CRM functionalities with a strong focus on data and insight to guide team activity. They will provide insight, analysis and forecasts using bespoke research and data analytics to support the charity's planning, activity, performance, reporting and growth, and will lead their team to work collaboratively across the charity's wider team to conduct due diligence.
The selected candidate will have significant experience of managing a prospect research function and will have a thorough detailed knowledge of the voluntary sector. You will have excellent research skills in major gifts fundraising with demonstrable experience in identifying and researching prospects at the six and seven figure levels. You will have excellent analytical skills, including data reporting with the ability to interpret financial data and translate that data into actionable insights, and a strong understanding of relational databases.
