We have two fantastic opportunities to join our Service Charges team as Regional Service Charge Managers. Based from our office in Basingstoke, you'll combine office and home working in line with our hybrid approach, with occasional travel to our Wembley office for team meetings.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Service Charge Setting and Administration, you'll be responsible for managing and coordinating the Regional Service Charges team in the South West region in the delivery of the service charge calculations (all tenure types) and annual service charge statements to customers in line with legal and regulatory requirements. The portfolio consists of approximately 20,000 units with a total annual service charge income budget of c.£20 million. Responsibilities include:

• Managing the Regional Service Charge team with a focus on articulating a clear vision, providing direction, and promoting a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement

• Setting the annual service charge expenditure and income budget across all tenures within the region

• Accountability for the annual service charge estimate and final account process, ensuring the risk associated with rechargeable service charges is effectively managed and regulatory time scales are met

• Working collaboratively across the business to support continuous service improvement and deliver excellent customer service to customers across different tenure types, ensuring compliance with legal requirements

• Reviewing and approving the certification of annual service charges, documenting the calculation and apportionment process, including the reports and supporting documentation to facilitate the certification

• Producing and analysing regular reports on recoverable repairs and maintenance expenditure, estimated service charge income and ad-hoc reports dependant on business requirements

What we're looking for

You should have previous experience in a similar management role within service charges. You'll need to demonstrate strong technical knowledge, being adept in managing fixed and variable charges in a large and complex setting, preferably in a housing context. You'll also need:

• To be an experienced leader, skilled in developing high-performing teams and consistently maintaining high operational standards

• Thorough understanding of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 (as amended) and other guidance and best practice for service charges

• To be qualified by experience or a qualified accountant with a solid understanding of accounting practices and concepts including account reconciliations

• Ability to take ownership and work independently whilst meeting tight organisational deadlines

• Strong stakeholder management skills, demonstrating collaborative, cross-functional working relationships, including experience liaising with external stakeholders, e.g. auditors, regulators and Ombudsman

• Experience in directly engaging with customers, addressing queries, and delivering clear, concise written communication

• Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate / advanced excel

• Knowledge and experience of using housing management and property management systems (e.g. Workday, SUN, Agresso, NEC, Active H or similar)

Role Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, but dynamic team at Access – The Foundations for Social Investment. The Assistant Management Accountant will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Access's financial records. The role will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and provide support to the Senior Finance and Operations Manager and Director of Finance and Operations.

Main responsibilities include:

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (guide c.85%)

• Keeping the accounting system up to date, ready for review by the Senior Finance and Operations Manager, this includes but not limited to weekly bank uploads, posting weekly and monthly journals and reconciling Access's bank accounts and balance sheet.
• Assisting the Senior Finance and Operations Manager with preparation of monthly management accounts, annual budgets and Access's year end audit. 
• Supporting treasury management by maintaining cashflow records and assisting with forecasting future cash requirements.
• Managing the accounts payable and receivable functions
• Maintaining organised financial files to support monthly reporting and the year-end audit
• Work with the Finance team to ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place and are being followed in order to comply with financial regulations and internal policies
• Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time, consistent with the nature, level and responsibilities of the role

OPERATIONS, PEOPLE AND GOVERNANCE (guide c.15%) – scope dependent on number of hours worked

• Support the Senior Finance and Operations Manager with the delivery of the finance and operations team’s objectives
• Support the implementation of new systems and processes to improve operational workflows, with a dedication to continuous improvement
• Understand the programmatic work via the building of strong relationships across Access to be able to provide support to other areas of the business.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience within financial accounting or finance operations, including ownership of month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Exposure to VAT, with charity VAT experience advantageous but not essential.
• Experience supervising or supporting colleagues, or the confidence and desire to step into your first formal people management role.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve finance processes and systems.
• Previous experience within the charity or wider not-for-profit sector would be advantageous.

About the team

The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 15 staff. Impetus has an annual income of c.£11 million which we are looking to grow significantly within the next few years. The team is led by two Directors of Philanthropy and Partnerships. 

The Philanthropy Team works with major donors, corporates and grant making trusts, as well as collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we make a compelling case to generate new financial commitments and wider support for our work. The team also deliver a high-quality engagement programme of volunteering and pro bono for Impetus’s corporate supporters.   

Impetus is driven by a shared belief in tackling the barriers that hold back young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in education and employment. Alongside investing extensive financial and non-financial support in our charity partners through our Investment Team we also seek to influence decision makers to design and implement evidence led policy and direct new resources to get young people the support they need through our Public Affairs team. About this role

The Engagement Manager is an experienced professional who plays a key role in supporting donor engagement across all Impetus donors, enabling the team to provide best practice and high-quality donor stewardship and a platform for the renewal of key philanthropic gifts.

The Engagement function is responsible for pro bono and volunteering. Reporting to the Head of Engagement, the Engagement Manager is responsible for supporting the successful delivery and continuous improvement of the volunteering programme, ensuring it delivers high-quality opportunities, contributes to agreed KPIs and evolves in line with the needs of funders and the organisation. 

The postholder will account manage key relationships with mid-level supporters and internal stakeholders, working across teams to deliver meaningful and well-coordinated engagement opportunities. They will contribute to identifying and developing new opportunities for the volunteering and pro bono programmes that respond to funder interests and portfolio needs. 

In addition, they will manage relationships with mid-level pro bono supporters, taking them through the full pro bono journey from project matching and onboarding through to stewardship and ongoing support.

This is a cross-functional role that collaborates closely with the Investment team, wider Philanthropy team, Public Affairs team and other stakeholders to ensure a consistent and excellent donor experience.

Key responsibilities

Volunteering programme  

• Account manage relationships linked to volunteering across corporates, individuals and grant-making trusts, ensuring engagement is maintained and escalating strategic issues or risks where appropriate.
• Support or lead meetings, alongside fundraising account managers where appropriate, with funders to understand their volunteering interests and contribute to the development of suitable engagement opportunities.
• Support account managers in ensuring consistent donor engagement throughout annual giving cycles, including tracking, reporting, and communications.
• Contribute to the development of the volunteering function to ensure the programme offers a range of high-quality opportunities suitable for different funder types and aligned to organisational priorities.

We are seeking a capable and motivated Shared Services Accountant to help deliver high-quality finance services across a varied client portfolio. Role Overview

You’ll manage day-to-day bookkeeping and financial tasks for a range of clients, taking accounts to trial balance, supporting the production of management accounts, and handling VAT and payroll duties. You will work across platforms including Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage Payroll, and be a key part of our collaborative shared services team

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers for multiple clients
