Chefs in Schools is a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health, through improving school food & food education. Working in areas of high deprivation, we support and train schools and their kitchen teams to serve the best, freshest and tastiest food possible, alongside meaningful food education. This role will take our charity’s mission to a wider audience at an exciting time of development and growth. For a small communications team, we punch above our weight - regularly hitting the headlines, getting featured on agenda-setting news shows, receiving pro-bono support from renowned agencies and we have high-profile ambassadors, such as Prue Leith, Henry Dimbley and Thomasina Miers in our corner.
We need someone who’s creative, strategic and has great media contacts, or the knowhow to forge them, who can ensure a steady stream of coverage that gets our work in front of key audiences. Work with the Head of Communications to develop and deliver content, media moments and campaigns that help raise awareness of our cause and achieve our wider strategic goals.

Skills & experience:

3+ years prior experience in a similar role.

This is an opportunity to lead an award winning communications team – Third Sector Communications Team of the Year in 2024 – that’s tasked with changing how we think about hospice, end of life and palliative care in the UK.
As the charity representing the UK’s 200+ hospices, we have secured ourselves a significant national platform in the past year or two, with regular, top-tier national media, and online campaigns which have forced the government to act.
With assisted dying legislation progressing across the UK, now is a critically important moment for the public – and for politicians – to better understand what hospice care is all about, and the challenges we face.
As part of our mission to promote and protect hospice care for all, it is critical that our communications team keeps it high on the agenda. We’ve built huge momentum – whether with regular national TV news coverage, a rapidly growing online supporter base, or though our recently overhauled brand. But we need a savvy, politically switched-on Head of Communications and Campaigns to keep that going, and to make it pay off.
Hospices are amongst our most loved community charities, and our job as the national charity for hospice care is to rally the public – as well as major donors like companies and trusts – to support these brilliant organisations.
You’ll need a strong eye for a story, and an integrated understanding of the full spectrum of communications, campaigns and marketing. You’ll likely be a specialist in one area – which is fine – but we want someone who can join the dots, spot the opportunities, and inspire a team of specialists.
Hospices are under huge pressure. Funding is tight, and demand is surging. This is your chance, in the coming years, to play a leading role in fighting for hospices to get the support they need – from government, from the media, and from the public.

About the role
This is a hands-on, people-focused role at the heart of our programme delivery. As Programme Manager, you’ll work closely with communities, colleagues, volunteers, and partners to co-create and deliver meaningful programmes that centre on women’s voices and lived experience.
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of projects — from design and facilitation through to coordination, evaluation, and reporting. The role involves a high level of collaboration across departments and with external partners, as well as ongoing work with participants and volunteers to ensure our programmes are inclusive, responsive, and impactful.
You’ll be at the forefront of delivery: holding safe, welcoming spaces; supporting others to take on facilitation roles; and helping build confidence and leadership among women involved in our work. At the same time, you’ll ensure strong systems, clear communication, and smooth operations across every stage of a programme — including the coordination of all logistics, administration, and communications needed to make programme delivery run effectively. As the work is people-focused and often deeply personal, you’ll need to feel confident navigating sensitive conversations, responding to complex situations with care, and creating space for trust and honesty.

Key responsibilities
Programme & Project leadership
· Support & lead on the design, development and delivery of new and existing programmes and events aligned with the charity’s strategic objectives
· Work closely with Head of Programmes and other departments to translate strategy into bold, creative actions that centre women's voices and lived experience
· Work closely with Head of Programmes and other departments to embed co-production principles across all programme initiatives/ co-produce initiatives with participants and stakeholders, ensuring relevance and impact.
· Initiate and conduct research into topics including public health, gender inequality, and women’s health to inform and inspire programme development.
· Facilitate and host workshops and group sessions; hold inclusive and safe spaces for women, while supporting others (e.g., volunteers, project members) to take on facilitation roles themselves.
· Proactively bring forward ideas, test new approaches, and continuously improve the effectiveness of the charity’s work.
· Collaborate across departments, drawing on the full range of team skills and perspectives to identify opportunities and create programmes that are innovative and cohesive.

- Stay up to date with best practice in safeguarding, boundaries, mental health support, and inclusive, trauma-informed practice, and help ensure these are embedded in programme delivery and team culture.
Data Protection, administration and programme coordination
- Oversee the secure collection and storage of data, ensuring full compliance with GDPR.
- Implement and manage CRM systems relevant to programme delivery.
- Ensure the smooth, effective and compliant delivery of all programmes, activities, and events, with a strong focus on quality, coordination, and attention to detail.
- Act as a key contact for programme/project enquiries and coordinate logistics such as booking facilitators, venues, equipment, and refreshments.
- Liaise with participants, facilitators, and volunteers before, during and after programme delivery to ensure a seamless and supportive experience.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork and digital documentation — including EDI monitoring forms, feedback, and volunteer information — is completed, stored securely, and remains compliant with GDPR and organisational standards.
- Manage relationships with external facilitators, including onboarding, contracts, payment processing, and quality assurance.
- Coordinate across departments (e.g. marketing, community engagement, operations) to ensure strong internal communication and the effective promotion and delivery of all programmes.
- Maintain accurate programme records, track progress against plans, and ensure that systems are in place for smooth programme operations.

This is an externally funded post which will be focused on opening new provision and supporting existing provision in order to reduce waiting lists within specific funding areas. This is a very varied and rewarding role that requires someone who is self-motivated, organised, creative, tenacious, positive, IT competent and with a real interest in people. You need to be able to coach, empower and inspire our volunteers and cadets, both in person and remotely, to grow the Sea Cadets.

The Events Manager will develop an events programme that delivers excellent supporter-care to all fundraisers and supporters taking part in an event or organising their own activities, maximising income from these fundraising streams. Harnessing current supporters and leading the growth of our existing network of community and event supporters is key to this role, with a focus on developing pro-active individuals, corporates and groups wanting to engage with and support events. The role will be hands on, focused on operational delivery, supporting crucial short- and medium-term funding impact, as well as longer-term and sustainable corporate income for Richard House.
This role is offered on an interim basis, but with the option to become permanent.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- A track record in managing and delivering fundraising events, including participant cultivation and stewardship.
- Evidence of developing supporter-care processes to increase engagement.
- Experience of the practical application of the Fundraising Regulator, Gift Aid and Data Protection legislation.
- Experience working with volunteers would be beneficial.
Excellent communication and relationship building skills and an ability to interact with prospects and partners at all levels will be key.

Research grant management

The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) are one of the main partners for the London Borough of Waltham Forest, delivering activities which connect people and greenspace. The successful applicant will work with the London Borough of Waltham Forest representatives, Friends of Parks groups and local people, with the aims of improving nature conservation, health and wellbeing, through social engagement, gentle exercise and connectivity with the outdoors.
TCV are seeking an enthusiastic, confident and experienced person to join our London Health & Education team for this important post. The Project Officer will lead the delivery of three key areas of work in the borough:
1. TCV's Green Gyms - Lead the delivery of weekly nature conservation volunteering sessions for people (with a wide range of abilities), through the TCV Green Gyms at Leyton Jubilee Park (Thursdays) & Lloyd Park (Fridays). The post holder will actively seek new volunteers to attend the TCV Green Gyms, through continual engagement with local social prescribing partners, social media promotion & local advertising of activities. They will also continually recruit and train volunteers to ensure they have the maximum opportunity to develop their skills and experience.
2. Friends of Park support - Support the capacity building & training of the Friends of Parks groups across the borough, which may include anything from organising an external first aid trainer to deliver an event, to you organising & leading a workshop on how to create & manage a wildflower meadow or working to support them on a practical activity. You'll keep the local Friends of Parks group webpages up to date with advertising forthcoming events & updating member's contact details & producing newsletters.
3. Wider events & activities - The post holder will be expected to lead and/or support the delivery of wider activities as required, such as regular family events at Abbott's Park & large family events Love Parks week (currently 8 events during summer months). The Project Officer would also lead corporate volunteering days, likely to take place at the Meridian One Community Garden & Tree Nursery in Enfield.
The post holder will mainly deliver core activities independently, although they'll work closely with the existing colleagues in Waltham Forest, to ensure local people receive the best possible experience. They'll be occasions when there's a need to work extra hours, including evenings & weekends, such as during Love Parks week, which takes place each July & during family events at the community garden (approximately 6 weekend days a year).
The post is full-time for 35 hours per week. The Project Officer will be based in TCV's community garden in Upper Edmonton, Enfield. The community garden has an office from which the post holder will be expected to be based 3 days a week, in order to administer this project. There will be regular travel across Waltham Forest & occasional travel across London, for training & meetings. A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.

We are looking for a permanent and full-time member of staff to help develop and manage RSTMH’s profile within tropical medicine and global health. We need a passionate and creative communicator who can play a key role in meeting our communications objectives. This role is office-based in central London, with the option to work from home on Mondays.
RSTMH is a membership society formed in 1907, with around 1,800 members and Fellows in over 100 countries. We work to improve tropical medicine and global health by enabling and promoting research, sharing knowledge and convening networks through our members and Fellows and beyond. The Communications Manager will have the opportunity to develop and enhance RSTMH’s reputation as a credible and trusted voice in tropical medicine and global health.
This is a wide-ranging and exciting role. You will lead on implementing the organisation’s communications strategy, working with the leadership team to ensure it meets the aims of the wider RSTMH strategy. You’ll maintain and further develop the website and social media platforms, build links with media contacts, and source, commission and develop content. You’ll manage relationships with key suppliers, including website developers, strategic partners, digital media and creative agencies. You’ll also be responsible for delivering RSTMH’s newsletters to our members and Fellows, and global network of supporters.
We’re looking for someone ambitious and solutions-focused with a passion for communications to deliver creative and innovative content. You’ll have the ability to engage people in the technical areas of our work as well as the nature of the societal problems and context we’re seeking to improve, and establish analytical systems to monitor our progress.
The Role
- Implement RSTMH’s communications strategy, in line with the wider organisational goals
- Full ownership of the website, including content updating and monitoring for consistency and currency, managing any development work and integration with other systems
- Manage social media channels for RSTMH, and develop strategies to engage wider networks
- Accountable for our joint venture website, grow: including developing a strategy for updating and maintaining the listings and income generation through advertising and/or sponsored posts
- Commission, source, write, edit and proofread engaging and relevant content for the website and social media channels, providing editorial support as required and building a network of expert contributors
- Track engagement across media channels and email marketing, and produce monthly reports for leadership team showing activity
- Ensure RSTMH’s brand and editorial guidelines are maintained in all of the Society’s work, including all communications by the team
- Full responsibility for fortnightly newsletters for RSTMH members and Fellows, and monthly newsletters for non-members with strategies to convert non-members
- Create and maintain Society level communications calendar
- Monitor developments in global health and tropical medicine, especially in order to inform policy work with our Policy and Advocacy Committee
- Establish a network of media contacts for the Society to promote its work, signpost experts, and raise its own profile
- Represent RSTMH externally with key partners, at relevant conferences and industry events
- Support on income-generating activities across RSTMH, particularly new memberships, conversions, journal promotion and event marketing
- Establish and maintain systems to report and evaluate RSTMH’s digital platforms and activities
- Develop communications plan for all areas of RSTMH, working with department managers to execute
- Support key RSTMH spokespeople, including the Chief Executive, with media briefings, press releases and key messaging

Person Specification
Essential experience
- 5 years’ experience within a digital communication role
- 3 years’ experience developing and maintaining websites and social media for a campaign, cause or organisation
- Proven experience working in an editorial capacity, developing compelling copy for online audiences, with a varied portfolio of written work
- Experience of digital content creation, commissioning and management
- Proficiency in HTML newsletter creation, working to tight deadlines, collaborating with other departments, and using mail clients
- Experience of managing suppliers, partners and contributors
- Familiarity with design software for creating digital assets, such as Canva
- Knowledge of CRM databases
- Experience with digital advertising and promoted social media posts, analysing trends, reviewing efficacy, and adjusting campaigns in real time
- An understanding of the academic and research communities
