We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing and Communications professional to join our team and support both the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and the wider archdiocese in developing engaging communications and marketing our events and initiatives. It is an exciting time for the Cathedral as our retail and hospitality outlets are redeveloped. Based within the Communications and IT Team within the Chief Operating Officer’s Department you will support the sharing of the good news of the archdiocese both internally and externally within our parishes, with clergy, schools, officers and stakeholders. As a team we are focussed on growing and developing our existing platforms including our websites and social media channels, as well as supporting the Archbishop, our parishes, clergy and other departments with communication and marketing needs. This role will also lead on supporting the archdiocese in telling the story of the Cathedral, past, present and future and helping build the vision of the new Visitor Centre. We are seeking an experienced professional who can help us translate our vision and engage with our communities and visitors to our city. The successful post-holder will work between St Margaret Clitherow Centre and the Cathedral (2 days per week), with travel across the Archdiocese as required. As a Chef you will be operating within one of two full-production kitchens within two separate buildings (Remembrance and Aspects) to supply catering across multiple outlets including self-serve 380 cover restaurant, table waited functions room up to 500, coffee shop, 'pop up Foodservice outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum and hospitality. We are open daily from 10:00 till 17:00 7 days a week, we do some bespoke evening events in our Aspects building throughout the year.

If successful, the main duties of your role will be:

• Consistently maintain high standards of food service and provision to meet the expectations of our visitors
• Adopt operational responsibility for one area within the kitchen (for example one of the preparation areas, baking, hot meal production, etc)

• To operate across two full-production kitchens within two separate buildings to supply a 380 cover self-serve restaurant, table waited functions room, events and functions hospitality, coffee shop, and 'pop up' outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum.

• Ensure that the methods of preparation and presentation comply with the standards set by the Executive Head Chef
• Ensure that all areas within the kitchen and dining room areas are clean and tidy at all times, and all relevant documentation is up to date
• Daytime and evening Events catering up to and including formal banqueting for up to 500 attendees

You will have experience of working as a Chef in a busy kitchen together with a catering qualification and food hygiene training.  Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential together with the ability to work under pressure. 

You will be working 5 days out of 7 with the occasional evening work at events.

Key Responsibilities
 

Strategy Development and Implementation

• Leading the organisation through the iterative development and implementation of strategic projects to serve the ambition of Resurgo, to “inspire and equip organisations to deliver ambitious and sustainable social change”
• Provide direction and support to Heads of Department, setting them up to succeed in the implementation of ambitious plans
• Line management of the Strategy Managaer, who project manages and drives the delivery of annual departmental targets and strategic projects across the organisation.

Finance

• Line management of Head of Finance, providing strategic leadership in the development of the finance function and oversight of organisational financial management
• Lead the annual planning process, working with the Head of Finance and Director of People, Culture & Operations to shape and deliver annual financial planning

Oversight of Governance, Risk and Opportunity

• Executive Chair of the Strategy, Finance and Risk steering group, owning the most significant risks and opportunities facing Resurgo at an organisational level, ensuring actions are taken to mitigate risks and that we are set up to maximise opportunity

• To ensure that the methods of preparation and presentation comply with current recognised catering standards and those implemented by the Food Services Manager and Executive Head Chef.
• To take operational control, including supervision of all kitchen staff, of any of the kitchens, food production, food service and pot-wash areas as required by the Executive Head Chef.
• To assist the Executive Head Chef with menu planning, rota changes, staff training and stock control..
• To report any customer complaints and compliments and to quickly resolve any complaints to ensure satisfaction at the point of delivery wherever possible.
• To help ensure that all members of staff adhere to both statutory regulations and NMA's policies on food safety and health and safety within all catering areas.
• Work with the Executive Head Chef to ensure that effective induction, supervision and appraisals of catering staff are carried out and that training needs are identified and met.

The post will be working 40 hours per week on 5 days out of 7 basis.

Refettorio Felix is an innovative charity providing a restaurant quality 3 course meal freshly made entirely from surplus food in our beautiful space, for free, to vulnerable and economically insecure adults. It also offers wrap around care and support in areas such as housing, mental health and employment. 

We offer our services Monday to Friday during the day. At night and at the weekends the space is for hire as an event venue for weddings, parties and corporate events. 

The role is made up of three major components:

1. Focus on the delivery of the commercial events, being heavily involved in all aspects from marketing through to handling enquiries,  and then managing the client relationship and their event to conclusion. 

2. To organise fundraising events in the space. 

3. To assist with the marketing of the charity in general, including the day to day management of the social media channels. 

You should have some knowledge and interest in web sites, an interest in food would be an advantage. Specific experience in a similar role professionally is not essential, your knowledge could have come through voluntary activities, hobbies, university clubs or elements picked up through part time jobs. Main duties and responsibilities:

· Create and deliver fundraising events in the venue.

The Role:

The post holder will assist on the development, implementation and delivery of high quality educational experiences including school workshops, short courses, teacher training programmes and public events related to Adventure and Nature Based Outdoor Education.

Our Adventurous and Nature Based offering is currently delivered from The Tamar Manoukian Outdoor Residential Centre on Dumfries House Estate through practical hands-on workshops and events, targeted predominantly at primary and secondary school aged learners. Our offering is being expanded through the Tamar Manoukian Sports Hall. Both centres, alongside our extensive estate grounds, provide workshops that focus on harmony with nature, physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing and opportunity for personal growth and development. The centre’s vision is to ensure there is an understanding between people and planet utilising the importance of green spaces. Due to the holistic nature of our education strategy, the post holder will have the opportunity to work with colleagues, on interdisciplinary programmes, from the wider education team including STEM, Food and Horticulture, Farming and Rural Skills, Hospitality, Textiles and Building Crafts.

Key Tasks

Supporting the Education Manager to ensure the smooth delivery of the King’s Foundation’s education strategy and core TMOC programmes by:

• Delivering Adventurous and Nature Based workshops and activities to a variety of age groups and abilities.

• Designing and evaluating workshops and activities that are in line with the aims and vision of the curriculum area.

• Keeping up to date with current practices and policies in outdoor education and industry, through networking, CPD and personal development.

Contributing to the overall education aims of The King’s Foundation by:

• The post will be based at Dumfries House, Cumnock Ayrshire. Some travel within the UK may be necessary.
